  1. All good recomendations here but might I suggest that the Magdala does have more screens. Personally, I'd watch it in the CPT but then that's just me.
  2. On the rare occasions Bent did get on he certainly got the service but kept fluffing his lines. When he was at Charlton he played on his own up front most of the time and did very well in a struggling side, well enough for his price tag to rise dramatically but he has a long way to go to justify the fee. The thinking was that he would work well with Defoe but it just didn't happen for them. I'd have preferred it if Bent had gone rather than Defoe but you certainly wouldn't get anyone willing to shell out the ?16.5 million that we paid for him now. So far he has proved to be a terrible waste of money. I'd love it if he came good but I really can't see it happening for him at Spurs. I hope he proves me wrong though.
  3. I've got it too Rolo but thanks for the offer.
  4. "Ambition is the last refuge of a failure." - Oscar Wilde. "Outside of a dog a book is a man's best friend. "Inside of a dog its too dark to read." - Groucho Marx
  5. Hmmm...sorry, but the words cloying and desperate spring to mind. Over to you Dom...
  6. Bye bye Defoe. I thought Jermain Defoe was very patient in the hope of getting a regular starting slot at Spurs but he will do very well at Portsmouth and score plenty of goals. You can't blame him for leaving as he was not getting enough first team action and not getting into the latest England squad had obviously made up his mind to leave. It's a good move for him and I hope he does well. What I am a little worried about though is we haven't got enough cover if Berbatov or Keane get injured. Darren Bent (injured at the moment) is just not good enough. He really needs to raise his game. So far he's been a complete waste of money.
  7. Yeah...good luck with this. Errr.....I wasn't even a twinkle in my father's in '55.
  8. I bumped into Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs of Saint Etienne at Forest Hill Station a few years back. There is a recording studio nearby. Has Bob moved to Dulwich then? This is gorgeous by the way.
  9. Black Angel Death Song - Velvet Underground.
  10. Lol! Yeah me too. I saw a girl in the crowd, I ran over I shouted out, I asked if I could take her out, But she said that she didn't want to. I changed the sheets on my bed, I combed the hairs across my head, I sucked in my gut and still she said That she just didn't want to.
  11. Good call on Nick Cave Sean. He's seems to be like a fine wine...gets better with age. Yeah! looking forward to the new album and it's about time I saw him live.
  12. It's been keeping me out of the pub Sean...no bad thing that for a pancreas like mine. I'll be begging someone for the second series soon.
  13. The Drum is on North Cross Road and Orisiwu Spot is on the Greendale Estate.
  14. It's our gain and you're loss
  15. Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves - Eurythmics.
  16. I don't watch much TV but when I left CWALD's post a few brandies after walking her home from the last Forum jolly up at the Dog I left clutching Series 1 which she has very kindly lent me. It's brilliant and I'm utterly addicted.
  17. Sister Midnight - Iggy Pop
  18. Lee "Scratch" Perry who along with King Tubby invented dub/remixing/sampling and whose output has gone into literally thousands of records over the last 45 years and is still going strong. A singer/writer/composer, producer, mixer, engineer, record shop and label owner, dj.... And doing all that way before anyone else. More recently for the same sort of thing - Soulwax and David Holmes.
  19. Of course but it's not as bad as it used to be where the cabbies would just shirk and say "Sorry guv, don't go south of the river." The thing to do is to get in the cab first and then tell them where you're going. Another tip is don't say Lordship Lane - say East Dulwich. There is a Lordship Lane in Tottenham which isn't the most salubrious of areas and they don't much like going there either, especially after dark.
  20. Very good. I remember seeing something similar when that idiot Bush got in first and and God help us second time round.
  21. Midnight Rambler - Rolling Stones
  22. I agree with what you are saying about young Damon. You've also forgotten about his African collaborations, his record label Honest Jons and....well the boy is doing well isn't he. He was certainly shall we say the latter part of the 90s.
  23. Because unfortunately over the last couple of years he has been injury prone hasn't been fit enough to command a regular place in any starting line-up.
  24. Steveo about time you posted, yer blinking lurker you. Shameless self-promotion going on here but having read the book twice and sub-edited the first draft and lent you god knows how many books for research and given you the utmost encouragement without any mention in the damned acknowledgments (what acknowledgments!) I can only highly recommend it to everyone on here. Go buy it and enjoy and make this man some money so he can buy me a drink.
