  1. They don't cost ?7.50. That's a price DF made up on the spot. I know that when Cooper ran the Dogfather the dogs were 100-per-cent kosher beef and bloody delicious at around the ?4 - ?4.50 mark.
  2. Apparently, re-opening sometime in April but don't hold your breath.
  3. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is there actually a place on North X Rd selling > hot dogs for ?7.50? I doubt it, Jeremy. DF has obviously plucked this price out of the air. BTW The Dogfather (Coops) sold his franchise a few years ago before moving back to Australia. It still trades on the NCR.
  4. No one has suggested they are and you're the one who said the food stalls on the market were pretentious. You just make it up as you go along. Anyway... ?7.50 for a fecking hot dog. That's not sophisticated or pretentious, just expensive. This thread is supposed to be about Xoco, right? Any updates on that or is this conversation headed for the lounge?
  5. Hit some good form at the right time but three games in five days is a tough ask. Go on you pink n' blue.
  6. Sri Lankan, Vietnamese or Korean would be great.
  7. Similar things are happening with the businesses in the railway arches in Brixton and Herne Hill. Those businesses are being pushed out due to very high rent increases.
  8. It's social cleansing. Nothing more nothing less. They don't want them there. Simple as that. Sadly, it happens a lot when places likes Peckham get gentrified. Most of those salons will go out of business.

Ah, the sands of time are catching up with me. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure it was Bells before it became George's. I remember when Elvis opened his shop in North Cross Road as I was living in Lacon Road at the time. Nice fella. Shame it all went tits up for him.
  10. I remember when it was Bells Fish & Chip shop. You could eat in and there was a guy worked there whose name was Elvis.
  11. There's a deli in the village.
  12. I just wish I'd remembered to watch it. Amazing performance and result.
  13. Ah! I think I might have it - Cumberground. I worked with a few in my time. http://www.yourdictionary.com/cumberground
  14. Yeah, come on give us an answer. I nailed this on page one with bungler, though you can have this one as well for free - incompetent.

When I worked on The Sporting Life back in the day and we were based at the old Mirror building on Holborn Circus a colleague of mine would lie to his wife and tell her he had to be in the office early so he could go drinking in a pub at six in the morning by Smithfield Market. Half a dozen large De Kuyper's (Dutch gin, for that was his tipple) later and he'd stagger into the office at 9am all bright and breezy by half ten he'd be banging on the door of "The Stab" downstairs to be let in for round two. They usually obliged, for he was a good customer. There were a few Daily Mirror journalists who were known to do the same. I've done it myself after a mad night out back in the day. But the real breakfast of champions is a big fat line of cocaine washed down with a healthy swig of Jack Daniel's and a spliff to take the edge off. Been there and done that too. It ain't big and it ain't clever. Also going back to the first morning gasper - when the body has been asleep for seven hours of so without a cigarette the body is craving for that first nicotine hit of the day and what a pleasure it is to the confirmed smoker.

The Globe is a proper gastro pub now. Also gets used in a lot of film shoots. It served as Brigitte Jones's gaff in Brigette Jones's Diary or whatever the film version was called.

Thank you Sigmund Freud, that's quite a leap. It hadn't occurred to me that every time I light up it's because I want to suck on my mother's titties.

I breakfast on coffee and cigarettes. It's a great combination and I'm simply not human until I've had that indulgence first thing. I love to smoke. The first cigarettes of the morning are a deep joy to me.
