  1. Indeed.
  2. Don't you just despise the Mail? Apart from the story itself which is obviously ooh, shock horror, a commie at our posh school type shit which doesn't help her in keeping her well paid job but also you get "?36,000 a year Dulwich College," says in the headline but by the time it gets to the picture caption it's gone up to ?39,000 a year. Suck on that.

  4. I don't want to stick the boot in but I felt once they got rid of certain key staff at least six months ago, staff, that new customers had become friendly with and also at the same time became regulars got on with, that was the death knell. Having said that I wish them well though it's not somewhere I've been in since the mid summer. ?4.40 for a pint of Guinness. Get ta fcuk with ya. I just hope they can address the faults and turn things around.
  5. Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. Both of whom have been creatively dead since the 70s, unlike their contempory Jeff Beck and fellow Yardbird who has continued to explore and generally not be boring. This from 2001.
  6. Indeed. You don't expect me to read the damn thing do you.
  7. I think balance needs to be redressed.
  8. He was two footed RD. I remember one goal against Leicester City (not in the edit) in 1968 where he left four players on their arse and rounded a young Peter Shilton that was as good if not better than the ones in the edit. Oh and he got a hat-trick that day too. His third of the season. Scored four in a cup-tie four days later too where the headline in the paper the next day that I remember clearly was Four Goals Can't Equal One Cap. There was a big push to get him back in the England team ("Jimmy For England") but Ramsey wasn't having it despite the fact he'd again finished as top scorer in the country with 36 goals that season.
  9. If you think you've got it tough please spare a thought for this poor family in the Cotswolds and think how lucky you are. http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/ag237/jahlushhead/10472878_830125543705218_7665761801838216356_n_zps5d0867ec.jpg
  10. Yeah, Forest Hill Road PO is tops. Really nice people who run it. I never bother to use the one on Lordship Lane anymore as it's nearly always hellish busy.
  11. Jimmy Greaves could do what George did i.e leave four or five players on their arse, round the keeper and score. He did that a lot. He'd get all the tap-ins too. Genius. He was also George Best's idol.
  12. I need to get my sorry arse back up to Gipsy Hill and sample the delights of Beer Rebellion. Haven't been in the newly opened one yet. Can't wait.
  13. Ahem. George Best was from Northern Ireland.
  14. It's another reason why I admire him so much. I'd just started working on the Sunday People as a 16-year-old when Jimmy broke the story about his alcoholism with the journalist Frank Thorne. Probably the first used headline of 'My Booze Hell'. He came into the office a few times and I so wanted to go up to him and shake his hand and tell him how much I admired him but felt it wasn't appropriate at the time. He was going through such a rough patch I felt very sorry for him. Everyone in the office was in total awe of him. There was a hell of a lot of love in the building for him. He was such a hero to us all. I met him 30 years later and he is a really lovely bloke and whenever I see him I'm still that little kid playing football in the park who wanted to be him.
  15. I just got all misty eyed watching this. My boyhood idol. Still no one to touch him as far as I'm concerned. 44 goals in 57 England caps including six hat-tricks (more than anybody else). And for anyone who thinks the game started with the Premiership you can forget Alan Shearer's record because Jimmy pisses all over that and still holds the record of 357 goals in top flight football and six Golden Boots as the top flight's leading scorer. 466 goals in 659 appearances. I could go on. I was gutted when he left Spurs for West Ham and I was inconsolable when he quit football a year later at just 31. I love him.
  16. Also featuring a 17-year-old Ry Cooder on slide guitar.
  17. Brand is an idiot for telling people not to vote. I'm not overfond of him either. Too gobby and his ego needs a planet of its own.
  18. steveo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > When people dump their fag packet litter not five > feet from a bin, why aren't they smacked in the > face like they just trod on a rake? It's not just fag packets though is it. Cans of drink, takeaway food etc etc. I tend to show them where the bin is. I hate litter bugs.
  19. Gotta have my current faves in here.
  20. It's on my copy. Aha! Mine a re-released version. Lost the original many moons ago. So I stand corrected.
