  1. Thanks for the PMs. Red Devil- no idea. Although the code hasn't changed in a while, and there have been a few ins and outs next door (who share the door/area).
  2. Hi, just a general heads up. My bike was stolen from under our house on the Gardens (locked to a stand withn a d-lock behind a coded locked metal gate). They've cut through the stand itself and taken the bike, lock, helmet, gloves, pannier bag etc. It's not a bog standard bike as it's had quite a small upgrades. So if anyone gets offered the following or sees it out and about (not likely i know), i'd be grateful if you could PM me: - extra large dark, metallic blue Pinnacle Lithium 5 - upgraded silver coloured back disc brake (looks odd as front one is standard black) - upgraded Shimano Deore crank set - upgraded black metal pedals - new Schwalbe Marathon Plus front tyre - black Topeak pannier rack with grey Altura pannier bag - with Lezyne front USB light - Cat Eye rear light - Black specialized helmet - Sealskins waterproof gloves It's the second time a locked bike has been stolen from the same place. Make sure your bikes are double locked to something very secure.

  4. Foxtons on Rye Lane or McDonalds on Lordship Lane which would be worse?
  5. I'd always been aware of swans without really listening- but that album blew my tiny mind
  6. did you enjoy the last swans album Miga?
  7. all very interesting, cheers. Will listen to the Taman Shud album on the way home from work.
  8. Brilliant- thanks folks.
  9. Jah- how are they connected to FWF- just label mates?
  10. I expect this thread has probably been done to death in the past, so please bear with me. Since Hoopers closed I can't seem to find a decent put in the area for The Rugby. The EDT used to be good when they had the biog screen, but straining your eyes and neck to see the telly on the top corner now is awful. Are there any others? Does the Victoria show the 6 Nations?
  11. I'm also (just) a 40-something, but have a lot of younger friends, mostly late 20's early 30's and they all listen.
  12. I occasionally see Don Letts DJ out- usually as a gig warm up, and he never seems to play anything you wouldn't expect him to. I don't have a great Reggae knowledge but he always seems to play tunes I recognise and ALWAYS plays a few Clash songs (excpected, i know). Thinking about it, 6music seems quite under-represented when it comes to Reggae. Cerys and some of those others i mentioned (Coe, Robinson, Ravenscroft, Huey) occasionally play a tune or two, but surely there's scope for a late night show dedicated to reggae once a week.
  13. I don't get on well with him or Don Letts.
  14. + Giles Petersen Knew i'd forget someone
  15. oh, and it's worth the licence fee alone. That and spotify premium are the best possible way to spend ?10 per month in my opinion.
  16. Radio 1 always had a handful of decent shows- but generally at indecent times. I catch the end of Steve Lamacq sometimes before Mark Riley's show, and he still thinks he's doing the evening session from Radio 1- it's devoid of anything remotely interesting. But, if it means the station survives long-term then so be it. I find that if you don't listen before 7pm, except on Sundays, then you can't go wrong. Although, i've always had a weakness for Lauren Laverne, but have never really listened to her show. I find that listening to Marc Riley, Tom Robinson, Gideon Coe, Tom Ravenscroft, Stuart Maconie's Freakzone, Cerys Matthews, Jarvis Cocker (is he still on?), Huey Morgan (most of the time), Craig Charles, Iggy (but I think he's gone now) is guaranteed to enhance your life.

I know that there are a few ex- Radio 1 DJs on the station. I only ever tend to listen in the evenings or on a sunday, and that is as it always has been.

Indeed. 12 albums in and tragically two dead band members 😞 still making some delightful music.

  20. The opening track of the B&S album is just adorable.
  21. I've never really got on with Belle and Sebastian but am really enjoying this latest effort. I've tried to like the Decemberists- many times. I usually like earnest, pretentious bands but I can't listen to that geezer sing without wanting to harm innocents.
