  1. some broadsheet quotes from this morning "...when Bale plays like he did last night there is not a full-back in the world who can live with this 21-year-old phenomenon...." "..It was, quite simply, the most exhilarating performance from a young player in recent memory, even by the standards of his hat-trick at San Siro two weeks ago..." "...Such was the 21 year-olds excellence that such experienced internationals as Maicon, Walter Samuel and Lucio conducted a brief second-half inquest full of hand-waving and hand-wringing into how to halt the Welshman." "..Redknapp was dignity personified when asked whether ''big clubs might now come in for Bale. Spurs are going places under Redknapp and Bale would be unwise to leave the party early." "...The runaway train of Bale's talent is being hailed all over Europe, with Internazionale's Luis Figo, no fool along the flanks, telling Redknapp as the two left the field together: "He's just amazing, amazing. He killed us twice." "..To call this a performance worthy of Roberto Carlos in his prime would not be hyperbolic." "In one of the most mesmerising displays of the modern era - comparable perhaps to George Best's destruction of Benfica that resulted in the legend of El Beatle - Bale rendered Maicon ordinary, vulnerable, almost fragile."

    Great Gigs

Terrible venue, but for the right fans it's some line up.....i've never been a huge fan of Flaming Lips, and ashamedly Dinosaur Jr passed me by- but i'm sure for fans of either or both this is a special gig. ATP do put on some amazing stuff. Wayne Coyne and The Flaming Lips will return to these shores to play a special one off gig in London?s Alexandra Palace on Friday 1st July 2011. The band will be playing their ninth album ?The Soft Bulletin? released in 1999. The special show will also feature Dinosaur Jr performing their 1988 album ?Bug, and Deerhoof Performing 2004?s ?Milk Man?. Tickets will go on sale this Friday.

I loved the tame impala single, but not got round to listening to the album yet...similarly with best coast; i adore 'when i'm with you', but the album just seems like the same song over and over again. The whole 60's surf pop sound is very in at the moment, and it seems to me like they're just riding the crest of the wave (excellent pun very much intended) without offering much new (i know, why change a winning formula?). For me Wavves second album does it a lot better though.

  21. wot a geezer eh?
  22. Am I the only one that finds morris dancing quaintly entertaining? Probably. But perhaps it should be reserved for real villages. St Georges day? Nah. As a country we're far too secure in our feeling of superiority to outwardly celebrate ourselves. It's just not English.
  23. Got Friday standing
