The walled garden in Brockwell Park is looking gorgeous and smelling delicious right now. There are big fat peony buds just about to open. A great place for shirkers like me to spend the afternoon with a book. -
It's substantially the same story and wording as the posts Jellybeanz made here yesterday. Makes you despair for the world, really

(ETA this was in response to Admin's post) Exactly, and thank goodness for that. ITATM, I wasn't suggesting that the pub would post here but the OP's previous posts said they'd add the manager's response when they heard from them so I assumed that hasn't happened. I understand the pub manager is aware that it's being discussed here.
-
My guess is that the OP has calmed down a bit (or Admin is keeping an eye) as the word 'racism' has also disappeared from the title of the thread. Knowing the pub involved, I suspect RH is right that it's cock-up rather than conspiracy, but clearly there's a case for them to answer and I hope they do that quickly. To be honest I don't see why they couldn't have responded yesterday as it can't have taken long to investigate.

I suspect the two threads / three posts that were deleted infringed the forum's Ts&Cs on defamation (aka libel). Unfortunately the one that started this fourth thread seems to extend the defamation to include the forum, which is silly, and tends to undermine the original argument. Look, I completely understand that you're both angry and upset, and that this is your interpretation of events, but you must see that you can't publicly accuse someone of a criminal offence without allowing them to put their side? If your version of events is proven - proven - then by all means go for it. Otherwise trial by social media is just bullying, isn't it?
-
I'm with rendel on this one. Your OP made me quite uneasy. While I can hear that you're very angry, it's a concern that you've posted this (twice, and with a third post in another thread) without allowing the manager time to investigate and come back to you. Accusing someone of racism is very serious and could be a police? matter, and I'm wondering how you'd feel if it should turn out that you're mistaken but by then your story has ended up on, say, the Daily Mail website (as in the Brick House case)? I have no connection with the pub or anyone involved, by the way. It just feels like something you might regret later.

Now six fluffy grey cygnets swimming on the pond in a tight group, one parent in front and the other close behind. Can't help wondering what happened to number seven. -

Or if your dog is, or is thought to be, out of control - which sounds very unlikely in your case! Most decent dog owners wouldn't need to be asked as when you see your dog misbehaving or someone looking worried about them, the first thing you do is call your dog away and/or put it back on the lead. I think the new order is more for the small minority who aren't responsible. -
Council Enforcement Officers in Dulwich Park

Have you clicked the link above and read the details of the order, ali2007? For our local parks the main points amount to clearing up after your dog, putting it on a lead when asked by an authorised person and keeping it out of the children's play area, plus obeying any existing signs about keeping your dog on a lead in specific areas. Seems reasonsble to me. I'd love to see more enforcement in Dulwich Woods. Yesterday between 12 and 1 I counted about ten dogs off the lead in the nature reserve, several chasing birds despite the notices about breeding season, There was also a woman on a bike so they could deal with all the other antisocial behaviour as well. -
It was the links I thought might possibly lead to downloading a virus or worse, rather than the posts themselves. (Felt like I needed to explain myself.)

You may have a point, Penguin68, but to a legit local company I think this forum is still a powerful influence. If it were a decent building co and there was a sign on the works with their name on I suspect they'd react as it could damage their chance of business in the area. Remember the now defunct local restaurant that for a while no one was allowed even to name? -

Oh, I don't know. These days the threat of reputational damage on social media is an effectve way to get a company to take a complaint seriously if they've been unhelpful in other channels. If this thread disappears it might mean it's come to the notice of the builder involved and they take it seriously enough to complain to Admin. Say if it was a disgruntled employee behind it. -

They/he/she may well have a genuine grievance by the sound of it so I'm not completely unsympathetic! -

Looks like the three people who've made complaints above are all first-time posters with profiles created today. You may well have a good reason for doing that. On the other hand you might be one person with an agenda. -
I assumed it was a virus-spreading spam bot! If anyone clicked on the links, what happened?

Well, maybe he hasn't seen it if he's only going as quieter times. I'm ashamed to confess that a friend's dog invaded quite a few picnics in Dulwich Park while I was looking after them. So embarrassing. -

That's rather a binary attitude, Ilona. You've chosen to post this on a public forum so I think it's fine for people to discuss both the issue and the petition. You post a lot of petitions here so clearly you're passionate about things. Just my opinion but you'll get further with them if you don't push away the negative reactions.
