  1. Thanks, Sue, and you too. It's not helping my Thin January effort.
  2. Yesterday I was about to leave the house and had to stop to clear up the dog mess that someone had walked up to my door (possibly my neighbour who shares it). The pavement seems to have a new pile every day, quite possibly from the same dog as it's the same size. Going to have words if I catch them
  3. Or to punish someone close to you. An ex-boyfriend used to treat a cold by crushing a load of garlic cloves into a cup and steeping them in boiling water. Separate bedrooms a good idea.
  4. Thanks for that, Sue. When I've stopped coughing enough to get back on the bike I'll give it a try.
  5. If the Post Office moved into the Coop, would that be Poop?
  6. You'd have to take a hell of a lot for a long time, DF. The RDA is 400iu a day and the safe limit is 4000iu, but those are based on the average needs of healthy people and Patrick Holford would argue that when you're ill the remedial dose may need to be higher. If I'm coming down with something I can sometimes zap it with a high dose for a day or two.

  8. Good point, and although I hate to say it, Lisa, you mentioned 'mid-life'. Not sure what age you are but it could also be to do with the lovely menopause (sorry). Your GP can check for that with the blood test.
  9. I didn't know that, Sue. Is it the kind of place you can go and feel comfortable as a lone female?
  10. Have they stopped doing proper fires? For me that was the big attraction as I'm not a pub-goer usually, but every time I've looked in this winter there has been no fire.
  11. It was rather spectacular. Hopefully all involved are feeling better and cleaner now. The woman I mentioned seemed strong-minded and resilient, luckily. Not sure I'd have handled it so well.
  12. Louise Hay, a major influence on many new-age therapies, would probably say to ask yourself what you must be thinking in order to produce the feelings, then work on changing that - so the underlying cause rather than the symptoms.
  13. eastDAG, your second post completely ignores the questions people have raised. As you're asking us to cooperate with your project, it would be courteous, and more credible, if you were to acknowledge and respond to them. I'd suggest starting by establishing your credentials so people know who you are, what if anything you're affiliated/answerable to and a spin-free set of objectives.
  14. Even worse if you do that turn on a bike after catching the end of the green light for cyclists as traffic waiting at Calton Ave goes next and are reluctant to let you through, and meanwhile traffic from Turney Rd comes up behind you and tries to force it's way past. Hope they get back to finish this off soon.
  15. Not if you're feeling low already though.
  16. Someone was violently sick over other passengers on the no. 12 on diversion in Kennington just now. One poor woman left trying to remove vomit from her hair, face and clothes. Horrible. All turfed off.

  18. Have you had a bad cold or flu? You can sometimes get a low after that. If not, perhaps you could use it as a springboard to explore what you want from life? There are lots of self-help books and materials online, so it doesn't have to mean paying for counselling or a course.
  19. At 27 you're definitely not too old to change paths; lots of people do at your age and older (I graduated when I was 31). Do you have a specific kind of role or industry in mind? One way to do it might be to think about all the skills you already have and identify what's transferable. For example, could you use your industry experience to take on a sales job and use that to explore next steps and get some office-based experience on your CV? If you want a complete change, as Natty as said, you could look for a voluntary admin role with a local charity. Go for it! Best of luck.
  20. Penguin68, I'm not going to argue with you. My interest is the man involved and how best to get him to accept help from the available services so he can live more safely and comfortably.
