Will not spending it make them any better off? What about waiters who serve the special celebration tea and get a tip to take home?

I'm not talking about parks in general and I'm fine with dogs running around off the lead wherever that's allowed, but a lot of conservation work goes into the woods and nature reserve, and during breeding season dog owners who don't keep dogs on a lead are compromising the birds' chances of breeding. We're so lucky with green spaces in this area and they do a lot to offset the pollution we create, so please let's all do our bit.

Fortnum & Mason. The Parlour on the 1st floor or upstairs if you have money to spend. The mezzanine restaurant at the BM is also good and a lovely setting. If local, Dulwich Picture Gallery cafe is good.

I think the OP means the one in the centre of the village outside the wine shop, next to the zebra crossing. I'm sure there used to be another one at the back of the gallery but not sure if that's still there. ETA: the one behind the gallery is still there and looking good, so probably not the one the OP means.

Despite notices at each entrance and in the reserve itself saying bird breeding season started on 1 March and dogs need to be kept on a short lead, most of the dogs I saw earlier today were running around loose. If you have a dog, particularly working dog breeds like spaniels, setters, pointers, labs etc that have strong instincts to flush out birds, please do take care and keep them on leads until the breeding season ends in July. There are lots of other parks locally where dogs can run around freely so hopefully everyone can support this.

I passed one recently which was being used as a tiny mobile phone repair shop. Very cute. Think it may be part of this lot: https://www.mirror.co.uk/tech/worlds-smallest-mobile-phone-repair-10507521

Same thing but when you carry an expensive handbag rather than a rucksack.

A bit harsh, surely? She's entitled to her opinion and it can be confusing as businesses have different policies on this. It's been a couple of years since I had a business account, but I assume you still choose a package that suits your trading pattern, so a heavily cash-based business like a newsagent will have one that lets them bank cash more cheaply but perhaps pay more for cards, transfers and cheques. I always feel a bit guilty when I buy something small like a bottle of water from a supermarket and pay by card; I presume they're losing out but I guess they know what they're doing.

I was always told to carry a small amount of cash for personal safety purposes and although we now have mobiles and cards I just don't feel safe without it. Also means you've got something to give to a homeless person or anyone else who needs it.

Things I am grateful for this snowy day ....
Robert Poste's Child replied to Sue's topic in The Lounge
Neuroscience backs that up: apparently regularly finding things to be grateful for, however small, encourages the synapses to do it more easily and quickly, making positive thinking a habit and creating a positive filter on life. It can feel really hard at first though if you're used to focusing on threats and problems (which is arguably a more natural thing for our 'reptile' brain to do, when you think about it). -
As these are business premises perhaps it's a guard dog? If so the barking may seem like a good thing from the owner's PoV and they may not realise it's becoming a nuisance to others. This seems to be the main basis to involve the authorities or speak to the owner as from the OP it sounds like the dog is inside so may well have a shelter you can't see from the street.

You can also call 0300 500 0914 and tell them the location of the person you're worried about. -
Worth adding that it's a myth SH is a teenage thing. It's done by both/all genders, and some start or get worse later in life.

A sign of serious mental distress? Instances seem to have increased in parallel with the rise of social media and the pressure users can feel to live up to what they see there, although a health professional will probably also wonder if there has been sexual abuse.

Returning to the topic, I'm sure I met the woman whose land has been unfairly encroached on a few years back, via this forum in fact. She was lovely: kind, cheerful, warm, fun to be with, and has lived in the area quite a long time. Perhaps the 'Google chief', as the ES calls him, is trying to use the media to shut her up and get away with it.

You created a profile just to revive this thread plugging a business. Do you have connection with the business, by any chance? -
A pound coin, if you can find an old locker that's not broken, or your own padlock for one of the new ones.

You're right about cars continuing to turn right from DV into Calton Ave after the light has change to amber and then red, but as the Calton Ave / Turney Rd cycle lane goes next this means they're risking hitting cyclists rather than cars. -

Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage
Robert Poste's Child replied to PinkyB's topic in The Lounge
'Please hold on, the bus is about to move.' I get that safety is important, but this is only helpful if it happens BEFORE the bus moves. 8 times out of 10 it's happening afterwards, and it's starting to grate.
