  1. Sure it was a dog?
  2. Found at about 5.15pm today on Woodwarde Rd close to the pillar box opposite the end of Druce Rd: set of doorkeys, 1 Ingersoll and 2 Chubbs. Keyring has Cardwise tag but the contact number on it is old and the company appears to have gone out of business. If you know who they belong to, please PM me. I tried the house closest but not theirs. Anyone know what to do with lost doorkeys now we don't have a police station?
  3. I agree it's horrible. That said, they've always gone on in this area. It might be more true to say they're less frequent so we notice them more. Ten or fifteen years ago I remember several close together in Barry Road, Melbourne Grove, even Elfindale Road.
  4. How far would you take that argument, Abe? Presumably rats and cockroaches have an even smaller carbon footprint.

I see your point, RH, but think it depends. When I posted that, I was feeling annoyed and frustrated as an observer but not in the shocked state of someone who's been a direct victim of a crime or someone close to them has. When my glasses were stolen practically in front of me a few weeks back I couldn't say much about the perp other than gender, ethnicity and age group.
  6. For what it's worth, earlier this week in another thread I identified someone as a white male. No one voiced an issue with it.
  7. That and 'libtard' is disrespectful to people with learning difficulties or cognitive impairments. Shame on you, though mainly for still thinking The Thick of It is a style to aspire to.
  8. You could try the meetup thread a few below yours.
  9. Gone now. Joking aside, you wouldn't have been happy if it was your road - look at how you all kicked up when they were on Peckham Rye, not actually close enough to houses for noise to be form issue.
  10. I'm one road over and you can hear it from here.
  11. Southwark Noise Team: 0207 525 5777
  12. Now with the addition of what appears to be a load of travellers camped on the old Audi garage site.
  13. Appear to be travellers - families in about ten vehicles, with several very noisy generators. Just what we need to fill in the small hours while the roadworks are paused.
  14. Due to start tomorrow morning - see above for details.
  15. You're spending time standing outside a primary school 'looking at the uniforms'? Sounds like a safeguarding issue.

However, looking back at the original schedule they circulated, it appears to relate only to the area alongside the old churchyard, ie literally the distance between the signs they have up. What this appears to mean is that most of Court Lane will remain open and drivers going north may only realise once they reach the works, thus turning the side roads, particularly Dekker Road (guess where I live - already treated as something of a car park by parents and teachers at Dulwich Infants) into roadblocks as there's not enough room for two cars to pass on them. For five weeks, then two weeks off, then another three weeks. Unfortunately the planners/contractors either haven't foreseen this or don't give a 5hit about local residents enough to inform us or mnanage the issue. Apologies to the Labour party canvassers who knocked on my door shortly after I received this, but (a) I'm plagued by noisy builders as well as angry drivers who think sounding their horn will change the traffic lights, (b) you were the second random caller in a few minutes and© don't ask me for my support again unless you can tell me you've done something to improve this.
  17. Big shout out to white male, 40s, short thinning mousey hair and beard, blue jumper, dog lead around your neck, in Dulwich Woods with two small dark-haired boys, presumably your sons, and a white and tan bulldog this lunchtime. You stood smiling and watching as your dog defecated beside the path next to the old railway bridge and then walked on without doing anything about it. Guess you don't care about anyone else's kids stepping or falling on it as long as yours don't. Yes, I know it's passive-aggressive, he probably doesn't use the forum, blah blah, but he looked classic EDF to me and if he doesn't read this I bet someone who knows him will. Drives me nuts. If you're not going to pick up after your dog, it's a sign you're not ready to have one.
  18. Not glitter! Best thing about Christmas. Blooming nanny state.
  19. It's not going to be fun. Calton Ave and Woodwarde Rd are going to struggle. Wouldn't it be great if, just this once, a temporary through-way could be opened up through Dulwich Park. The Estate has no empathy for local people though so it'll never happen.
  20. Heads up: Court Lane is now going to be closed for a month from next Tuesday 21 November to Friday 22 December, then open again over Christmas, then closed again for another three weeks from 8 to 26 January. Just got a notice through the door.
  21. Thanks. And another thing: why does car hire have to be so complicated and intimidating? It's like dating a psychopath: they start off sounding open and attractive, and as soon as you choose them you're sucked into a sh1tstorm of bad things that might or might not happen, with the implication that unless you pay for everything they suggest they're going to get you one way or another. I saw one with an UNLIMITED excess that you have to agree to up front - goodness knows how they take that off your credit card.
  22. Thanks, that definitely sounds worth a try.
  23. Thanks. I had no idea that Vauxhall Bridge and Park Lane were outside it; thought it was extended as far as Kensington a few years back. I'll be heading for the A10 but otherwise that would be a useful route from here.
  24. I'm told it's possible but as an infrequent driver I've never done it. Is it Peckham / Old Kent Rd / Tower Bridge / Bishopsgate? Thanks.
