"Two men have been charged in connection with an incident which led to the bomb squad being sent to the home of football legend Kenny Dalglish"..... Nobody was injured and yet this story is still running. Blown out of all proportion i.m.o.

At The Cold Blow Lane End, Millwall with the 'dads' and "lads" for the first time - noise, smells, unruliness...that incredibly green pitch AND in the middle of all this tribal chaos the sudden apparently random unified belting out of 'Knees Up Mother Brown'...still remember it over 45 years later

I didn't mean to chase you away, i just wanted you to shut up with the bigotted stuff cos i couldn't take any more of it. Your other non-offensive stuff is often quite amusing.). I actually feel a bit quilty cos i was a bit harsh on you and Steve, but Steve is as thick skinned as me, so has continued posting. But you seem to be made of more sensitive stuff, and i want to apologise for hurting your feelings. Thank you but fear not as it matters not one jot:) No need to apologise either but thanks again, anyway.

Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities. It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak. Was Tommy Carlisle correct? Discuss or if you are feeling strong enough, discus..?

Santerme Wrote: I am not going to repeat mine...However, continual repetition of theories without substantation is a bit like an inebriated man trying to drink himself sober Tony. All the evidence is against your assertions and you are basing your arguments of hearsay not trackable data. Point taken regarding Asylum Seekers Santerme but Refugees, nearly all by definition, regarded as "Homeless" would automatically go the top of our Points based system and join the relatively small percentage of people already on the list at the forefront of the housing stock queue would they not? So all those already on any existing queue which they joined would have to wait longer accordingly. Now add to that all the people who have come to The UK over, say, the last 50 years, a proportion of which would also be categorised as homeless and they, over the years that this system has been in place, would also, be at the forefront of the queue that they joined and everyone of those people would have pushed further down the existing queue all the people already on it. Would you say that this priority treatment is right?

To re-iterate my view I'm reproducing what I wrote earlier today on another thread. As you will see my comments have far more relevance to this thread. "Nearly all immigrants have made difficult decisions, worked hard and made sacrifices to make a new life, often struggling to adapt to a new culture, raising families under difficult circumstances, studying/improving qualifications, making professional advancements, gaining useful skills. They have too, sometimes, encounter prejudice, invisible walls and, in the much wider Society outside East Dulwich, a commonly held view that they do not belong here, or should not be here at all. It certainly can't be easy and many make it, despite , not because of the system in the UK. They deserve the utmost praise. Knowing the above, however, does not stop me believing that, as by definition ( almost), every Refugee and Asylum Seeker is regarded as "homeless", that they then should automatically join the, relatively, small proportion of people of existing Brits who are also near the top of the Housing Points system as they are categorised in the same way and ABOVE everybody else who are already on the system and waiting and are not regarded as homeless. Those people now pushed further down below them are also in need, sometines desperately so, and, by definition, their time on the Housing waiting list MUST be increased for every occassion that a person considered "homeless" is placed above them. Obviously this problem has been exarcerbated by the widespread sale of housing stock. The salient point is that while only a cetain percentage of people in need, currently on the national housing lists are regarded as homeless, nearly every Refugee and Asylum Seeker is regarded as such, and placed at the forefront of the queue, accordingly, joining everyone else who is categorised as such. I do not agree that this is right."

I'll leave that to the likes of Legalish, they are far better at it, having had more experience it seems. Apologies for the lack of insults and foul language and personal insults which I can see really amuse some of EDF's finest. -

I think it only right MM that I have my say before any such action is taken on this or any other thread. I've been extremely civil and polite throughout this while experiencing and witnessing more abuse, insults, smear, lies and downright rude, vulgar behaviour in the last week than I did in thousands of comunications on Blacknet, for example, where I debated (as often the sole non-African ) for 5 years and yet though we disagreed on many issues there was never anything approaching this type of aggressive ranting from members of Her Majesty's proud Middle Classes. Naturally my reply will be civil, polite and respectful but, having been placed in the dock by the likes of Lindylou, Crystal Clear, Legalish and all the usual gang/clique ( which does not exist, repeat not exist,) and the other bog-standard suspects, I will, briefly, state what I did say. -

To LE.... I will reply tomorrow as work beckons but I would love to show your post to the millions of Londoners who are still alive and lived in London from 1960 onwards. The overwhelming majority would utterly despise you. I do not. You are just a blatant hypocrit with a Law Degree who is, surely, no longer in need of Social Housing but you STILL are in your Council place... Incidently, how do you fae so well under the points system to acquire one? You have a Law Degree and yet you are still in Council Housing..utterly fantastic and that sums my impression of you up beautifully. -

Your well-reasoned, thoughtful, insightful, loquacious and cogent thoughts have made me re-appraise my view, both on the Subject matter, and, indeed, in life, generally. Forgive me if I do not insult or belittle you in reciprocation but I always leave that to the articulate other side of the Debate. Off to work now. -
