Usual argument prevails. Its all about proportion and extent of criminal activity. There was a Murder in The Orkney Islands, I understand, this year, the first for 24 years. By living in certain areas you drastically reduce your chances of having your door kicked in, for example. I never lock my car in my drive and when a friend is staying, I leave the back door unlocked and my side entrance is open, and yet I don't envisage any problems here in Bexley. Point is I would be far, far more reluctant to do this in Walworth (where I was brought up) or 100 other Inner London Areas, circa 2009.
