Now I don't know if you are pulling my plonker or not Rosie.:))...but I can tell you that that area was totally safe, you could play out all day and night, as children and walk home at 3.00 AM/4.00AM without a care in the World, as Adults. The people had little but "most" would do anything for each other and there was a real Community Spirit, I have to say. The irony is that I actually praised Dulwich, generally, just 2 minutes later on The East Dulwich Issues Page on the "Is Alleyns School a Cuckoo?" thread as follows: "Alleyns is one of the Jewels In The Crown of Dulwich. ".

Please tell me and I'll have a word in their shell-like Rosie. I mean, I know I didn't and I'm sure you're not saying that so who? Name Names! Secondly, if you or anyone else think that I'm going to let a comment like this go unanswered "If ever there was an area to be underwhelmed by, that's it. " by Pickle at 8.13PM you're very much mistaken. btw You are being rather selective aren't you Rosie? I was RESPONDING to a criticism of the Area where I was Born and had an idyllic childhood and Youth so its all right for someone or some people to slag off MY Hometown but not all right for me to reply, accordingly? How does that work?

Just heard about The Greenford, London murder last week where a peaceful, friendly Guy had his throat cut, then the 2 Barry Road Murders, then this.

Is Alleyn's School a cuckoo?

Alleyns is one of the Jewels In The Crown of Dulwich. You are very fortunate to have such a fine Educational Establishment in your locality. -
Our Year had the ignominy of being the first where The Sixth Form of The School was no longer simply divided into "Upper" and "Lower" as they introduced "The 6th Form Generals" so the whole of the year turned up on the first day of the new term with one hand hidden inside their shirt a la General Napoleon Bonaparte.

LOL...I'll take the average good denizen of The Elephant and Castle over the average Good Burgher of East Dulwich any day. No cancel that! I'll take the average inhabitant of The Elephant and Castle circa 1955-1980 where I was born and I grew up. Most, would do anything for you. Not so sure these days, though they might assist you with House Clearance, if required.

Get a Cook, Gardener, Chauffeur, Mistress, Extra Couple on the side (to be on the safe side) and have an, er, open relationship and then go to as many Casino's, Racetracks, Theatres, Social Events as you can afford. Alternatively learn to play the Guitar and become a Rock God. Remember you are only Middle-Aged once>:D< Now get up and enjoy every minute of every day and never forget there's plenty of time to sleep when you're dead... GO ON MY SON!

ruffers Wrote: Perspective.....? Perspective? This is EXACTLY how the last World War started!:X...something deemed relatively trivial by some, in that case "invading Poland", suddenly degenerates into somethimg far more unpleasant. Napoleon 1 said "L'Angleterre est une nation de Boutiquiers", now within 250 years we have become a Nation of Daffodil-nickers. Its absolutely disgraceful. Adam Smith won't be amused either.

Commendable thread, utterly commendable.

Max It is sure as you are Maxie, Were I the Moor, I would not be Maxie In following you, I follow but myself; Heaven is my judge, not I for love and duty, But seeming so, for my peculiar end: For when my outward action doth demonstrate The native act and figure of my heart In compliment extern, 'tis not long after But I will wear my heart upon my sleeve For daws to peck at: I am not what I am. I am Sir, Your Obedient Servant. In order words I'll Piss Off....

Jones and Higgins was so quintessentially Middle-Class Peckham back in the day. If either Mr. Jones or Mr. Higgins are reading this from that Great Department Store in the Sky, you are sadly missed Gentlemen.
