  1. I imagine closed as crowd control . Peckham Rye station had notices up yesterday advising they would close if necessary to prevent dangerous overcrowding .
  2. Denmark Hill/Peckham Rye to Victoria is SouthEastern . So no doubt rammed but running . http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/static/documents/content/SET%20Network%20Map.pdf
  3. I'm not a follower of football but Mr Texas tells me it all ended in tears today . So I've logged on hoping to read all about it .... but there are no threads .
  4. Penguin I've been thinking that . Poor nanny/au pair hope she's not reading all this .After all she did thwart the alleged "perp" .
  5. You don't need to be on twitter .They'll update you by calling your landline or texting your mobile .
  6. I can understand your frustration . Would definitely phone HO to get chapter and verse .I imagine they would accomodate you if you committed to a regular purchase say every 4 weeks of 56 cartons but probably not if you irregularly buy all the stock .Would cause dissatisafaction from other customers who sometimes can't buy it . MUCH more concerned by your breakdown "service" . Horrific ,death and injury could have resulted .

  8. I agree with Louisa ,though I might express my views less ,um ,strongly . And when I struggled pushing a wheelchair it was NEVER the trees I minded .I'd sacrifice a little inconvience over keeping trees anyday .Though w/c users amd less able w/c pushers might have a different experience . Don't get me started on wheely bins left all over the pavement though .
  9. "Thames Water ‏@thameswater 1h1 hour ago Sorry to customers #SE22/#SE23 with no water. This is due to a burst pipe in the area. A repair has been arranged to go ahead ASAP"
  10. I went past this earlier today .Shocked at the amount of water . A motorbike policeman was photographing .No workmen present .Thames Water repairing tonight if I'm reading their site correctly .
  11. Can't help ,but very much feeling your pain and hoping someone will step forward and provide the assistance you need .
  12. is it a) something to do with that situation you get when there are 2 or 3 buses all stopped at the same bus stop ? and it's hard to know whether you wait at the bus stop or walk down past 2 stationary buses to get to the one you want at the rear ??? or b) something to do with the 12s waiting in Etherow St before they start their shift and drive down Barry Rd ?
  13. The lovely Colin has just finished a small job for me .Came round at short notice and figured out a way to do something that had defeated other lesser mortals . I've not found all the recommendations on this forum live up to the hype - but Colin does .Great guy .
  14. James - makes no sense to me that S'wark only rank a road as being under parking pressure if it's got a CPZ .Which is the officers statement in the planning report . Even if that's just a badly worded way of saying that the residents haven't asked for a CPZ therefore there is no parking pressure ( which seems to be what you're suggesting ) that still makes no sense . Asking for a CPZ doesn't equate to there being a parking problem .
  15. Another migraine ? I hope you're ok .
  16. James what do you make of this extract from the officer's report quoted by Sidhue on The East Dulwich Hotel thread ? "Officer's Report The site is not located within a controlled parking zone and, as such, the location is not considered to be under parking stress." It reads ,to my mind ,as though only roads in CPZ zones can be considered by Southwark planning as being under parking stress . That seems odd ,and wrong ,to me .What's your view ?
  17. That's cr*p gaby ,I feel your pain ! Don't know if this http://www.vivantage.co.uk/viva-medi-tartan-transit-wheelchair.html?utm_campaign=ShoppingFeed&utm_source=google&utm_medium=merchantcenter&utm_content=Health%20%3E%20Wheelchairs%20%3E%20Wheelchairs%20-%20Transit&gclid=CjwKEAiAjvrBBRDxm_nRusW3q1QSJAAzRI1tFjImhPvTQlJhAyYKVhRpm3Qc4z8NgrjZjWZPB0yjjhoCObrw_wcB is of any interest .Took me ages to track down when I needed it for someone .It's more comy than it looks and is much easier to offload from a car . Not that it should be necessary for you to make such arrangements .
  18. Wouldn't the leaves have to be in those paper garden refuse sacks that you can get from the library ? Will they take if in plastic bags ?
  19. Sue ,of course .I'd assumed that was a given ,code of honour amongst us more senior EDFers and all that .
  20. ooh shell no need to nip to the tip ,a lot of us will like your bagged up leaves ( just leave for 18 months or so and voila leaf mould for soil conditioning and mulch ) . If you're fairly central East Dulwich say the word and I'll be round .

  22. Thanks Renata ,that's really helpful and good to know .
  23. Is there a jinx on the cafe in Dulwich park ? Is it positioned at the junction of malicious lay lines or something ? I've known it for over 40 years and it's always been a joke . Maybe there are reasons why from time to time they couldn't produce hot water ,lids for takeaway coffee ,chips ..the list goes on . But what would be the reason for the succession of (mainly) unhelpful staff who would never apologise or offer any grace .It has so often felt to me that customers were a nuisance to be endured - hot summer days ,not only do we stick to our ridiculous early closing time but half an hour before that we put two thirds of the seating out of action and set about cleaning around any who have the temerity to try and finish their drinks . Is the rent too high to support adequate numbers and well trained staff ? Does the demand fluctuate too much /is insufficient to make this work as a business ? What is it ?
  24. Yes ,yes the staff at Peckham Rye station are lovely .Helpful ,cheerful . The lady by the ticket barriers saves a copy of the Metro for an old lady who staggers in later in the day .
