  1. Otta - I can't think of ANY post on the EDF that is necessary .Mine included .It's a forum ,people express views . Londonmix - "rude and unkind" ? Yes gillandjoe was critical of other posters . Happens all the time on the EDF ,why single out this post ? You say "GillandJoe would NEVER have the balls to say that to people's face" but send a PM calling someone names rather than expressing disaproval on the thread ? Isn't that hypocritical ?
  2. One person's "need" is another's wildest dream , coming long after they've found the money for essentials like food and rent . I agree with gillandjoe's post - the language of living through and surviving grates.
  3. If I parked with 4 wheels on a pavement forcing pedestrians into the road and obscuring a junction wouldn't I incur some kind of penalty - parking ticket at the least ?
  4. sanity girl - my thinking as well .Wish you were my neighbour . previous neighbour ( a doctor so one would imagine educated ) thought that garden waste for the brown bin included old flower pots .plastic compost bags ,broken garden tools....
  5. This was brought up some time ago and is horribly sad . I've really no idea what can be done to change the policy .
  6. Mugglesworth ,I have similar feelings . That's why I'm checking if my understanding is correct ( probably not ! ) . seems to me that congestion /people adapting their habits because frustrated are elements . But surely that should apply to ,for instance ,the increasingly congested M25 and other motorways ?
  7. I'm no expert and don't know the details of your case but the " causing obstruction/inconvience " is a pretty catch all phrase .And rather subjective .
  8. Is the theory - close a road ,traffic forced on to route b ,route b becomes congested ,people eventually become so annoyed that they give up driving /traffic evaporates ?
  9. " Most of these are avoided by developers who want to have a longer-term relationship with Southwark council. " Is it just me or do these words sound a little sinister ? Developers don't take Southwark to task for tardiness because although they could, they're afraid of damaging a long term relationship ? They'd be disadvantaged in future dealings with Southwark because they'd pulled Southwark up for failing to meet a legally set target ? Don't complain or you'll suffer .That can't be right surely ?
  10. James ,as this appeal is based on a technicality ( Southwark not deciding within time limit ) forwarding orginal comments or making new ones is not so relevant for objecting neighbours . But - in case there are people reading in other appeal cases - they shouldn't rely on their original objections being forwarded but make fresh objections against the applicant's reasons for appeal .
  11. GBK has terrible acoustics and is always noisy ,so don't feel too sorry ..
  12. Thanks for the update MarkT .
  13. Would you store the apples until February ? Seems odd to have an apple day event at the end of February ? What am I missing ?
  14. I always rinse ,bottles cans etc but I'm never sure about pizza boxes - lots of cardboard but inevitably a bit greasy ,and olive oil bottles . Should I lever off the plastic pouring bit and use lots of hot water to rinse ?
  15. Hoping they can build in the back garden indeed .Tsk. Tsk.
  16. Maybe it's me . It's not the speed that is a concern ,it's the congestion ,squeezing in and out .
  17. Please not a cycling route down Adys Rd . Unless parking restrictions and a one way system is introduced . I would NEVER cycle up or down Adys Rd ,it's difficult enough to drive along it . Am I the only person who thinks this ?
  18. oh I love an old photo ,that was a treat d2a .Don'nt suppose the South London Press would print any of them - they have a historical page ....
  19. I know I'm old and a kill joy but ...I wouldn't half prefer virginia creeper or similar .
  20. Some thoughts here http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health/2476090-Junior-doctors-contract-please-read
  21. " Southwark didn't want to circulate the draft designs more widely " - how bizarre .Either you bring plans along to a public meeting with the aim of disseminating info and provoking discussion ,or you don't . Consultation lite ?
  22. sheff - robin ,poster rch has been trying to arrange a speed monitoring exercise with police and residents to look at speed on Barry Rd . I'm not up on all the details or ethos ,but believe that such action is a first step towards "doing something " ( don't know how to express it better before imbibing my first coffee ) . If you ( or any one else )is able to join in any speed monitoring sessions that would be great .
  23. maybe send a letter to the letters page of the south London Press - [email protected] ? hope you get some replies !
  24. chazzle - you will be sent copies of the applicants appeal by the planning inspectorate and comments will also be invited by them .http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/planning/appeals/ Julie Greer of GreerPritchard http://www.greerpritchard.com/services/planningAppeals.asp lives locally I think ( Gilkes Crescent ? ) and is an appeals expert . I don't know how much she charges though . Really sorry you're going through this .
