Bizzy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Take Church Road as a hint then. Each neighbourhood should have a variety of community facilities. Taken together, the facilities across a wider area should address a wide range of possible interests. As others have already commented on this thread, there is already a Multiplex-style cinema within walking and cycling distance for many around here. Or are you proposing that every food outlet should be a MacDonald's and every supermarket a Tesco? Is this your only > alternative to stop another Church from opening? I think you misunderstand. I said, and I quote: "There are many valid grounds for objection to a change of use. Take a look at the Bromley Local Plan. For example, the preservation of different kinds of 'community facilities' is very much part of the planning policies." In other words, all kinds of planning objections can be made that make absolutely *no" reference to church (specific), or churches (in general). The mere 'change of use' is a planning issue in itself, never mind what the proposed change of use is. Take a look at the Local Plan. It's worth reading in detail, and reflects central government policy (through the Planning Policy Guidelines referenced) on communities and neighbourhoods etc.

If you're near the library, the 12 to stop before Parliament Square. It's a different route from the 176, but often faster. It's great getting onto an empty bus. However, the 12 may be very full on your evening return trip. If you're anywhere along LL the 176 until Waterloo Bridge, then walk. If you're near ED station (or any other station), take the train option and change at London Bridge, to go to Charing X. If you need to get a bus to get to the station, you might as well take the bus.

HB, you have a particular form of the condition, the proper nouns variation. This is a clearly less extreme version, as there are fewer proper nouns than nouns in general. I think we can call the general condition Lyrical Contamination Syndrome, or LCS.

Take a look at the Bromley Local Plan. For example, the preservation of different kinds of 'community facilities' is very much part of the planning policies. Absolutely nothing wrong with a church in a road of any particular name. Road names are historical artefacts reflecting past political or social trends or fashions. We have a Silver Street in thousands of old towns and villages, but the silversmiths are no more.

So what's our condition, JoJo? Do the doctors have a name for it? Will it entitle us to invalidity benefit? Can we be cured? Or will it just continue to worsen as the years pass, leading ultimately to an inability to utter any expressions that are not composed entirely of song lyrics?

Why not re-read what he wrote. He was saying, if I'm interpreting correctly, that the dog (one location) was a long way away from the owners (another location). But we would generally expect a responsible owner not to go too far away. That is all. Postcodes don't come into it.

Pek-um Doesn't have the same ring as Clahm. Or even Bal-haam, gateway to the south.

A little sad that modern youth should have so little to rebel against that they should come full circle and adopt the conventional. This is sleazy sales rep territory. If this is the way they think they're going to irritate their elders... they're right. :-S

Indeed it is. Hannah Montana, G-Force. While it's great to have a cinema in Peckham, I believe Picturehouse (Ritzy, Duke of York's, Picturehouse etc.) would provide a different kind of programming, plus much more (e.g. in Brighton they show films by local film makers and so on). We're also talking about the restoration of an old cinema to its former fine state. And nothing wrong with two cinemas in local walking/cycling distance!

Or even, 'I'm going to kill you'. Now, we've had faith-based politics, and faith-based education. How about setting this god loose and having some faith-based oil exploration, say? Surely if they believe, it will be so, non?

The pledge for this campaign is now on the main page of Pledgebank pledges, as another kind soul has signed up. http://www.pledgebank.com/list and its own page: http://www.pledgebank.com/saveourcinema Please consider spending a few minutes objecting to the church's planning application (it'll probably be some time over the next few weeks) and sign up to the pledge. Let's see if we can get a proper cinema back in Crystal Palace!

That's it. You can take your pick... For example, If we took a holiday Took some time to celebrate... or Cliff (argh!!) These are songs I do not want in my head. But my entire brain seems to be indexed by song lyric.

Nero, I currently have three, no four of them sitting on the outside of my window/frame, basking. They just seem to love it here. I'm wondering if it's the new Osmo paint...

Moos Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Ha ha, is it 'I heard the news today, oh > booooyyyyyyyy' that does it for you? Nah, it's more like I see the words Assisted Suicide, and I immediately think of all songs about suicide, or indeed any toon by the band Suicide. Then I see the thread about clowns, and immediately Send In The Clowns goes through my head. Which I hate. And then someone mentions the word 'holiday' and... You get my drift. My most frequent response to anything is 'There's a song..." Does this make me OC/dork/geek/Asperger's? Or is there a more appropriate moniker?
