  1. Not a term for Dulwich I've heard before. Can anyone shed light?
  2. Sorry, it's not me. This appears to be a serious newspaper article.
  3. I've seen a Foxtons' "SOLD" sign in Overhill Road.
  4. Big surprise.
  5. > that aliens would be able watch our TV broadcasts is a myth Never seen Galaxy Quest?
  6. It is probably a good idea to name the distribution company. This would protect East Dulwich businesses who might be considering using them.
  7. Help is on hand from ex-Foxtons employees.
  8. The comments about the Chestefield Grove iron railings made me think of these posh railings. Mostly in old photos you only see these houses from across Goose Green. Note the clay soil settlement this early in the life of the houses.
  9. Maybe another rare one.
  10. Oh yes, Christine Reed, shops at Peckham and Forest Hill. None of this modern day browsing stuff. All LPs filed behind the counter by record label and catalogue number. Bought EKL 4005 there.
  11. It could be that Marks couldn't even open a kiosk inside Foxtons.
  12. It's Camberwell. No doubt about it. Some people confuse postal districts with other boundaries.
  13. See Ordnance Survey, London Sheet, CIII.
  14. Talfourd Road is in Camberwell. The Camberwell boundary ran along the centre of Victoria Road (now Bellenden Road North of Chadwick Road).
  15. The East Dulwich Arts Centre. Dream on, MacRoban.
  16. > especially with the oldies who are out for the day So sorry. I'll try to stay indoors more often.
  17. Sell at ?390m and buy back for ?1.
  18. Unfortunately this book is long out of print, and secondhand copies are expensive. Try Southwark Libraries?
  19. Perhaps you could drop the LP in on John at Dream Machine and he could make a bootleg CDR. I'd buy one.
  20. Did they play pubs in the Brayard/Gordon Road area?
  21. taper, this puzzled me: "Area west of Peckham Rye station is lovely [...]. Some of the housing stock is far better than the rather limited late Victorian stuff [...] you get in East Dulwich." If "late Victorian" runs from c1870 to c1900 then Bellenden Village housing stock is pretty much the same as swathes of East Dulwich. Post-1900 East Dulwich has far more variation. MacRoban
  22. Don't trust Foxtons. Try this impartial web-site.
  23. An update on HMRC investigations.
  24. Rentals are going through the roof in Bellenden Village?
