Bromley is ok but in the last year, shopping centre now has a lot of security measure due to bags being snatched and assaults in or around area in broad daylight - another area where before, felt fine now more alert.

Well if not housing with a bit of social attached, perhaps a local supermarket or a restaurant/ chain food place. Can’t think of anything else that would for the bill unless a private dentist or even something like Tessa Jewel to serve that section. Pity that skate park might go - guys and gals put so much work into it but have to move with times. Community centre? Anyone have any other ideas? Nice to explore….. Meant Jowel - not Jewel…

That totally passed me by- agree with you totally - think she must be going thru a bad patch - as Jazzer has mentioned somewhere else, has totally changed her tune but saying that, we all have bad days and need to get things off our chest. Moving on….never been a fan of Croydon myself - use to have to relocate clients there years - like everywhere some nice parts and some not so nice. Not a place I would go to for a mooch or shopping myself.

Person was letting others know, found a nice place - just like person who recommended great Italian restaurant when I had a bad vibe about Love Dulwich.Well did not expect new ownership - thought same owners and staff but just changed menu-previous manager had told me that was changing from cafe, do glad I popped my head in. what difference does it make if they are connected or not - none of our business at all - we can go and try or not as we choose.

Well let’s put it this way - certainly alot more alert when I am in town than I use to be . Don’t feel unsafe just a lot more cautious and aware of my surroundings. Tend to avoid walking anywhere in town as in London or Dulwich etc when it gets dark. Personal choice and certainly more people muttering or talking to themselves than before. Witnessed road rage years ago on Ladbrook Grove in broad daylight - memory still haunts me!!

Well why don’t you start totally backwards and have an idea as to what nursery and primary schools you want to target - plenty of good schools as you know each offering their own take. large home - what are we talking about here 4/5 beds I assume with a large garden. North Dulwich Triangle - are you talking about Half Moon Lane and up to Herne Hill plus the other side say Stradella Road etc but don’t think your budget would stretch that far ! So really you want to reproduce what you have in and around Abbeyville Road but in Dulwich area to access both the good private and state schools - use to Live in Rodenhurst Road years ago - now they are nice big house with good gardens. How long do you want to commute to get to the City.? I assume you want to aces the city via ED Station or ND station and Denmark Hill Station. I know some people who actually cycle to work in the city - faster and not trapped in carriage like a sardine.! One would hope for the money you are considering spending, you won’t be undergoing major works. Dulwich Estate are not known to be the easiest to deal with and my recommendation if you are gonna be knocking down walls, building out or up is to get your self a good surveyor who is use to dealing with Dulwich Estate. My other suggestion would be to try out the trains in rush hour or when ever you both need to get into the City to work. Go walk in Dulwich Park and talk to the locals - that would give you an idea as well or do you have friends living locally. Houses around Telegraph Hill area would tick the boxes and although limited with schooling might be OK. Good schools but not as much choice as Dulwich. To be perfectly honest, with that budget and given the ages of your children why don’t you move to the country. - much better for bringing up kids, commute would prob be under an hour depending on how far and which county. Your kids are still young so really education atm is not paramount. If moving to the country is too far a jump then why don’t you consider maybe Beckenham or Bromley - lovely areas there as well. schools all decent to. Wishing you the best in your journey.

Walking around Belgravia and Knightsbridge stopping to look at window displays in Harvey Nics and Harrods. Tea at The Ritz and Burlington Arcade. Theatre without doubt - concert at Royal Albert Hall. Must go to Fortnum and Mason and Foyles Bookshop. London is magical at Christmas Time whoever and whatever one does. Personally, avoid Winter whatever it's called in Hyde Park - usually near Hyde Park Corner - got it Winter Wonderland. Expensive, tacky. See what’s on at Sachi Gallery in Sloane Square - sounds really crazy but a walk thru any of the parks and even a row on the Sepentine plus visit that gallery.

March46, thanks for posting letter - and mentioning a comment I made. Alice - Ilona started this thread to raise awareness of a police appeal to the local community. Think it was very nice to have taken the time to make the community aware as we all live stressful and busy lives. What has resulted is a discussion, opinions call it what you like with local members of the community on this forum mentioning what I personally think of as this person over the months has been sighted. If to quote you in your last paragraph beginning “It’s a load of rubbish……. - all I can say, is I hope the incident never happens to you..this was nothing related to Robinson at all - but unless you live under a rock, you would understand the enormous pressure the Mets is under and what a great job they do. Just read the letter that March46 shared with the whole forum. And before you start off again, of course there are “bad apples” in all the forces - worldwide.

As I age, I understand a lot more about community spirit and people’s fear in the current climate of going to the assistance of a person in need. Yes, this might in part be aged related but is also driven by not wishing or wanting to help but a combination of self preservation and yes, fear of what the attacker might do or even worse get stabbed or physically assaulted. Whilst it would be great to have more police presence to reassure community and hopefully act as a deterrent to people whose aim is to rob people or home and attack people, due to the cutbacks and not sure about my next comment but lack of police officers in general and reduce number of recruits, let’s face it - we as a community should step up to protect our community and assist police. Years ago, I attended one of these evening meeting with the local police officers - turn out was less than a dozen local residents. Yes, was in the evening when a lot of families were dealing with homework, feeding, after school activities and obviously there are housebound people and older members of the community who understandably would not wish to come out. I believe that to address this, the church at the top of Barry Road near the library have over the last couple of years advertised and organised day time meeting with two local police officers responsible for the area to address issues concerning the local community. What happened in daylight might as mentioned above been in part caused by an individual with possible mental health problems - the point is we should all feel safe on our streets in London and without doubt if you read the news, seems like stabbing, assault is now just the norm - a reflection of modern day society in any large town in the UK. If memory serves me correctly, not related to assault but was not someone stabbed a couple of years ago near the junction with the organic shop? And I believe mentioned recently someone died in the local community from an assault. Would be good to have an update from the police or someone known to the individual attacked. I was in East Dulwich just last week talking to a friend in Barry Road and was surprised to see two bobbies walking along the road in broad daylight so now having heard about the assault can only assume police presence has been increased.

Without doubt a busy road with constant traffic - but can always put in double glazing. If you have a car, don’t expect to park right outside - prob further away but with walking distance. Agree with PeckhamNicola re train times and freight but at least not wizzing by every few minutes! Sorry but little experience in state schools - obviously you have plenty of private - Jags Dulwich College, Alleyns. Judith Kerr on Half Moon Lane - good rep - no idea whether secondary or primary - think primary. Also Charter School North - good reputation and Ark Evelyn - no idea! You might also look at West Dulwichand Crystal Palace Schools. Try Harris Academy as well. All the best.

Doubt Love Dulwich under new management will be there next year. Personally. will stick to Italian or Viet if latter is in same hands.

Personally can’t stand carpets however where I am renting has carpet in bedroom and hall. Not great quality and certainly not cleaned. Was in B & M recently and looking at carpet shampoo -wow got a can costing £2.99 to test.. No scrubbing as others seemed to imply. Spray, leave and poof - smells great, no dabbing or scrubbing and c leaving rubbish. First to admit is only temp solution but no need to hire carpet cleaner instantly or pay for a company to come and deal with professionally. For 3/6 months happy to have used this - Have a carpet cleaner and in a month or so plan to use it. Buy a steam cleaner for floors - not expensive - much better than mop and bucket and more hygienic all round. Can pick up second hand ones on e bay.

Well the Italian on Lordship Lane recommended here was delicious. Thank you so very much -my party were extremely pleased with ambience, location and lovely food plus puddings to die for. They are also on Deliveroo. Will certainly be back when I am back in 6 weeks time. Went past Love Dulwich at lunchtime on my way to Italian - only a party of 2 - food might be excellent but decided to give it a miss - wasn’t impressed with manager who admitted he had only been there 2 weeks. Might be being totally unfair but doubt it, as no comments since about a month ago from Pugwash.

Viet I assume would be noisy in the evening but I don’t go then - early evening and late in lunch shift is quiet. Yes, agreed a little pricey but always had good service and food. Owner is lovely. Really tough market - was just walking down this morning noting all the eateries. Pity that Georgian Restaurant only had lunch menu but looked very tasty - would have liked to see evening as well as no idea if it is different. You got any comments on this one ?
