  1. Best post office is the one n the village inside the chemist… great service….
  2. Food not consistent at all at Plough and if not lunch menu, well going rate really…these “ children” seem to be the problem regarding food.. others being adults hopefully more adaptable.. new thought for you, choose a restaurant/cafe etc for all of you and why not get M & S food that can be heated up for children? I am sure if you explain to whoever you choose they will accommodate you. In this day and age, most children I know and yours are not young either, have tried and tasted most cuisines — frankly, built rod for your own backs here.. I get veggie and vegan but most east Chinese, Thai …..and of course usual cafe offerings.. Indian an acquired taste … so normally fried rice for example with veg suits most… Really interested to find out who the lucky cafe is going to be..and where.. East Dulwich, Peckham? Other thought is pizza…not my personal choice for a celebration meal but does cater for all your various diets… maybe you could make it special buy adding a lovely cake at the end or in your case prob two,,
  3. My understanding is that all developments whatever size, have to have an element of social housing…affordable housing… council housing..No longer sure of percentage but clearly less than years ago.. The point is house builders clearly make a profit or they simply would not continue building what I refer to as modern boxes! Putting housing condensed or what originally was one house with land attached. Huge development going on in Beckenham - 200 social housing and rest open market.. sited over several houses now demolished… up the road from the park on way into town centre.. might even be completed by now.. haven’t been that way in last year… certainly can’t miss it.. So, for example, let’s say a developer builds houses and flats on a site… social housing I assume would be in a separate block to other flats and I assume house as well. Ie to put it bluntly, away from main site.. Nothing wrong in that at all. Many years ago, near Borough a developer built flats divided into blocks. . Price range £300/400,000. Social housing was in a different block…. Can’t remember how many… so families , couples etc got a brand new flat with modern kitchen and bathrooms, flooring etc and could not even keep common parts clean.. trash thrown out and left including out of windows etc..total disregard for community and certainly not grateful for brand new property and a home.. I hasten to add, not every flat in the social housing sector but certainly a fair few behaved that way.
  4. Yes but 6!!
  5. How can councils reduce social housing element? Is this just London or through out UK? Housebuilders making enough money as it is!! When are housebuilders going to understand their social responsibilities — with a shortage of property throughout UK, guess like everything, does not matter whuch Govt in charge… back handers, mates blah blah.. Been going on for years… Europe as a whole, well most of them can find ways of supporting homeless with pods etc, turn containers into housing and we in UK? Do what? Govt - all for some extraordinary reason are not accountable for mis using tax payers money.. NHS not held accountable either for mis use of funds and yet, we expect and complain if overworked doctors, nurses etc are doing their best in a very difficult situation. Years ago, wrote a paper on elderly care, bed blocking, dementia and no plans going forward to accommodate or in deed plans in place to sort out social care.. No wonder, medical professions are looking to work or relocate abroad.. Simply do not get it at all.. changing names of govt departments to something what? Acceptable in 21century is not going to solve the problems… Same goes for police, fire department, ambulances, schools etc.. only sector that seems to be having and have had for years, monies and support is sport… Education is in same situation - having to ask for donations for books, musical instruments etc and now expected to train toddlers in how to use utensils for food, provide food and train/assist potty training to use of toilets…plus normal teacher and or assistant duties. Not even going to go down route of SEN needs… Rant over..
  6. Def going to check this out in Feb when I am back.. love Asian food and one in Underhill as well - never knew they even existed…
  7. Hi, My Nut Dog, destroyed it earlier this week.. Anyone have one lurking at home that is free or not retail price please? This one was only five months old..new.. my rescue dog has gone back into stress mode… not his fault either and no idea what has caused it but crate reduces barking and he settles. Thanks in advance..
  8. Check pugwash …recommended place in East Dulwich Grove.. can’t remember name of Italian near bus stop just before where Poundland use to be..lovely staff, quiet back area..might be abit cold but inside area as well. Only drawback is steep steps to toilet downstairs. Personally like Viet place.. no shouting and toilets on ground floor. Lovely staff but some do have abit of problem understanding English! Someone else also recommended some place in Underhill Road - open at night. Check Sue, kindly forwarded menu earlier on today. Think Italian place is due Fratelli… went earlier this year and staff were so accommodating with menu, seating etc…
  9. How much was lunch special ? Thanks for rec…. Keep on forgetting that part of ED… Can’t you go there for your family meal?
  10. Microchipped? Prob not… you must think he is a wanderer… !why not ask parade of shops in Rosendale? Ot Tesco square shops.. help if you gave an aprox address so people can look out… beautiful Maggie. Hope you are reunited…
  11. New thought for you… since people have recommended the Chinese place in Uplands Road, no idea whether it would accommodate all of you, why don’t you pop in, chat to th em and see as a one off whether they would stay open? Prob going to now say, your tribe don’t eat Chinese as you have already mentioned not all eat Vietnamese… My comment about £20/30 per head was including two/ three courses… now a days a main course is around £15.00… Hope Persian is open…more for your sake! Following with interest…. Friday night in my experience is going to be noisy where ever you go…
  12. So authentic Cantonese food… are they open every week day and where please.
  13. Would have thought Oru/ Trinco would be noisy… certainly is at mid afternoon. Do let us know when you have been what is was like and where you finally settled on.sure we are all interested as your requirements are quite specific and good to know or have reviews on places, especially from you with different needs and requirements. Actually, given the numbers involved and as you say a special occasion, assuming £20/30 head, you really should have a chat with Suzanne. Maybe your kids could chip in a bit more as they are working.. You could always provide a cake yourself for after. Her food is special and well cooked.. know what you are getting..! Italian place is also good as well and would cater for your needs except of course the toilet aspect which is a steep climb down stairs… even I struggle. Yes, , know you are not a fan of Vietnamese place after tea incident… Owner now does all the cooking and so nice and accommodating but you won’t go there.. Wish she got more support… had a bereavement recently…
  14. Not sure if it is open on Fri pm , but why not Blue Brick cafe, take the whole place over..not large anyhow. How about Italian food critic recommended.. food and staff great but just remembered toilets down stairs.. always Spinach.. personally too noisy for me and my fiends Viet place near Goose Green that you slagged off for cost of a pot of tea.. Meets all your requirements but prob not for you.. You both like value for money… tough requirement for so many people with disabled access to toilets, gluten and veg free.. What you could do as it is special occasion is speak to Suzanne, treat yourself with family with a tailored mad e meal for all.. She might even deliver so you only need to heat up whatever or for a few, let you use back room in North Cross Road..
  15. What I find strange, was when I was up here in Sept, fags were a pound or two more - fair enough. What I can’t get me head around is how-in 4 months it can go up that much… I use either Waterloo or Paddington Stations and what has become very clear over the c last six months is how all retailers have added a pound or two along the way on everything.. M and S, Starbucks, and all the chain or independents in stations. In future, thing I will be bringing my own sarnies for the journey - £2.80 for a cup of coffee on the train sounds very good compared to the prices of chain cafes.
  16. Yes, should have given up by now but haven’t. Was waiting for my train yesterday and went into WHS on platform to buy a pack of fags. Almost feel to the floor when guy quoted me £28.00 for a packet of Silk Cut purple. Was a long day for me and thought I had totally misheard him! Asked again, only to be told that that was the price whuch is well over the odds..when I queried it as have bought, admittedly end of last year was told “ this is what management charges”. Surely this can’t be right…fags stayed in WHS paws while I bought some in Herne Hill at normal price. Still reeling over shock…..
  17. Going to be really inconvenient for folk to go that way as has been stated.. why not just move to Camberwell which I would assume is abit nearer and better travelling wise or have vets in both places from Lordship Lane Branch.. Must have been massive flood if going to take two months to dry out, electrical tests to make sure all good… From upstairs? Or where?
  18. Poor dog….how bloody stupid of owners who clearly have zero recall of their dog. Not good recall, don’t let your dog off the lead or have it on a long line. Why did you not hop over fence and get into water to try and rescue dog? Dies in cold water. Totally disgusted but then not surprised by people … No different from people walking their dogs on cliff paths when know might fall off…an advised to keep on the lead.. do they pay attention….No… what is wrong with people? Don’t they have any common sense? And why wait for fire department? Not exactly strong currents like sea… RIP woofer… no sympathy for owners whatsoever…
  19. Well that is pure insanity to have available accommodation be it for students or medical staff remain empty when folk are crying out for accommodation… let’s face it, it is tax payers who are paying or subsidising all these hotel accommodation, etc…. kings wouldn’t… why would they? Having said that, with the dire condition of nhs, would have thought they would not turn down a way of generating income after all they have maintenance Sept and if thru council , which ever rent is guaranteed… Finland might be smaller but a much cheaper solution than what we doin UK… and yes, totally agree need to look at total picture, education, health, jobs, schooling etc…
  20. Strange isn’t it…..other European countries s actually come up with solutions to house homeless people, which are pod structure, use of office blocks, etc. homeless are provided with thermals, warm sleeping bag and tent or pop up tent plus tech friendly clothing which means they are warm in extreme conditions. Us in UK? Nothing but chuckinto house of multiple occupation, which is usually not warm and not all have mould, but some do.. live in one room even if you are a family with good only knows what other sort of people… not referring to ethinicity here but more along the lines of mental health problems, drugs, alcoholics. Single and families all in one property. Or if you are one of the lucky ones, into a hotel you go… Why don’t we as a nation claw back more money in the form of tax or avoidance avoidance, off shore accounts or other ways that rich or investors do buck the system….
