  1. I no longer feel safe walking in ED on two feet with health issues….sad really but that is the reality - safer riding a bike around- doubt it - might be faster but at the end of the day, be it walking or cycling, if one shouted as in need, say 11 ish - how many people would open their door and help? We are talking 2025…..
  2. Agree - another example of mis use or in this case no use of tax payers money.
  3. Food banks for sure and what about approaching these schools in area that run summer camps - although having said that with health and safety being so strict might not allow it - crazy really. Can’t remember name of church but was one in Peckham that from memory did a community meal a couple of times a week. Now they for sure would take them and probably Kingswood House as well.
  4. Gosh, calm down.. How about not getting so heated, and not eat for 24 hours with sips of water? Try it and you may, just may understand, starvation, no water. No meds at all even if you need them - hasten to add, don’t do it at all if you are medically dependent. In fact, why doesn’t ED - do this for half a day - say in Oct, when everyone has come back from enjoying their, hols, new term starting and as a community, we could all be 1.? Before, November, fireworks, etc.
  5. Well that really is not Christian Spirit at all - we all live in this world and yes, totally agree that it would be wonderful to have no conflict in the world but that is not possible. Yes we have people in need of food in this country but overall enough charities and organisation in the west to help. We are talking about thousands of people who are starving - not just going hungry - a huge difference would you not agree ? Aid can’t reach people - for whatever conflict and don’t think people dropping parcels, boxes etc from planes would be the answer either.
  6. Don’t see you making any positive contribution so with respect each person is allowed their opinion - matter closed
  7. Makes sense though… or do you not think so? Can’t book anything without dates!!
  8. Well I don’t approve for a shop doing the same food to open so near - just wrong in my opinion. Why not go to the village, Peckham - foot fall would be great in Peckham and certainly more multi cultural than ED. Village has money but doubt foot fall would be as good as ED. At least they could have gone to the stretch leading up to Peckham Rye or why not bottom of Barry Road?? Or even North Cross Road I for one, on principal won’t be going in.
  9. Best you post when you have an idea of dates - waste of everyone’s time
  10. Thank you and I wish you all the best in your new venture.
  11. I don’t do instagram so how c much would a cream tea for I be please? And what is included? Do you have a website ? and do you deliver? Thanks.
  12. Since I am of a certain vintage now, not sure if what I am going to suggest is even still around but here goes… use to be able to buy “dummy/mock papers on line and also had mini synopsis of Shakespeare plays specifically covering students wanting to gain a better understanding of play before taking mocks/ exams. Only know this as many many moons ago, struggled with English Literature and Language and this was the avenue-my parents went down. Also was at this point in my life, educated abroad as part of my fathers job.
  13. Love your comment about “shoehorned” - put a smile on my face..! As for comment about “Little Waitrose” ummmm - never really thought about it. Personally, could not care less. But guess Sainsbury Local and Tesco Express are to you more acceptable.. Ultimately, when I think about it, I actually don’t care what they call themselves - been lured by partially branding and partially convenience and what they offer in groceries.
  14. In answer to your question Pugwash, the variety of foods that they offer both in canned goods and fresh. i personally no longer am a Sainsbury customer after years - feel that the quality of both their fruit, veg and fresh products ie meat, chicken, fish is not of a quality that they use to be. Agree with Sue that Co- Op does not make for a pleasant shopping experience. On the subject of Waitrose not coming to ED - one can only assume that market research has been done by the company which makes it a non starter which, when you think about it is strange as all the big contenders are here.. Perhaps the powers to be have never heard of ED!! Maybe a Lidl or Aldi will rear their heads but somehow can’t see it as space is way to small. Really is strange that Waitrose is a non arrival - never ceases to amaze me how many eateries are in Lordship Lane alone and the majority all survive.
  15. Hi, Thinking about going with some friends and was just wondering if folk might like to report back please. Most importantly sound level when busy & is it disabled friendly. Thinking on a Sunday lunchtime but don’t want a busy busy environment or loud chatter - a couple of friends could not cope. Time can be flexible, if that helps - say 2 ish to avoid above.. Thanks…
  16. Now I have heard everything…..not send your kid to a school because you don’t like the name - so to get my head around this, if school is outstanding, parents won’t send their child there because of name of school? Or have I not understood?
  17. Why don’t you speak to head of English at private schools? Might be able to recommend a senior student.. pity now summer hols. Was how my friend found a tutor for both their kids - maths and science and English.. They also have some mag covering schools as well
  18. So top of Lane. Local Sainsbury, middle Co Op and M and S and bottom Tesco Express…..now everyone should be happy except those that want a Waitrose as well…0h and don’t forget M and S near ED Station….
  19. So please tell me are they open and where are they located?
  20. Totally agree - everyone is allowed their own views..
  21. Totally agree regarding not supporting chains. Gail’s was fine but last time I went in Feb this year, actually walked out Fayetteville looking at menu and waiting 15 minutes to even get glass of water and not busy at all. Staff gone down hill - sooner it goes the better… Always prefer to support non chains - so many lovely places with good food to choose from with pleasant staff who know about customer service and sadly, non English which says a lot for our culture, pubs are also becoming abit of a hit and miss affair but maybe just unlucky. At the end of the day all about the chef. Still abit unclear where new place is located - is it down the road from Goose Green where parade of shops are before Peckham Rye?
  22. Agree with you - just like Love Dulwich. At least it is healthier than pizza and god knows how many chicken, chips and burger places on lane.. And different.
  23. Does anyone cook at home anymore?
