  1. Thanks for that - none of mine have been Mordena - whilst vulnerable cat, think I will just take my chances… Will be having flu though - certainly not by choice - much prefer not to but in vulnerable group.. Avoided them until last year…. Luck of drawer if you are as sick as fog or just sore arm … assume - god knows - that flu jab is same throughout country.
  2. Wow, that is what it costs for one prisoner. So they get full board and lodging, 24 hour monitoring in over populated prison, we are led to believe, minimum exercise, assume a tv in each cell provided - in USA it is together with wash hand basin and c toilet - some have showers as well. Clearly this amount of money takes into account overstretched and overworked prison officers, protection for them, counselling which is, in my opinion a bare minimum dealing with prisoners in all settings. Do if Sweden can look outside the box, why can’t we? Or are we just not bothered at all / read statistics some where that reoffending is normal and to be frank, with economy as it is at the moment re employment, cost of living and homelessness..not surprised they reoffend to get back inside - food provided, roof over your head - much better than street living, mixing with wrong crowd, trying to get roof over your head, find a job where 90 % won’t employ you as been inside..
  3. Well sure someone will correct me but years ago, in Singapore and I was quite young so not sure if it is true. but if you were caught stealing, your little finger or just the tip part with nail was chopped off. Stigma for life as all know that was punishment for stealing… no questions asked.Totally agree it is barbaric but equally putting people into overcrowded prison for minor offences is also not right. Tagging I guess would not work or maybe does… no idea at all. Not so long ago, heard a talk about how European’s cope/deal with prisoners and how the suggest rate is higher and offences lowered greatly as in not going back to prison for same or another offence. The general gist was their approach was each prisoner mattered , was heard and listens to and a suitable package was tailored towards their needs. Not b one package for all. Not cooped up for the majority of the day - encouraged as an example to cook, garden, grow food, other household stuff plus study if wanted for courses, languages etc. and mental health, dependency on substance abuse also addressed. Can’t remember if they were paid c pocket money which clearly accumulated or could be used to I purchase whatever in prison. If they can do it by experimenting and I think but not sure, at the time an English prison was learning why can’t this sort of program be rolled out throughout UK - cut backs not an excuse - think of the millions lost by govt during Covid… Maybe it is - no experience in the matter at all.
  4. Did you have the same covid jab as you have had over the years?
  5. Really like living in a country where big brother is looking at you -, not that it is likely to happen in UK but crime should have stricter consequences.. not just put into jail which I gather is where more bad habits are learnt.
  6. Wow, well served with local supermarkets then… Agree with ATM.. good c position to been mugged or cloned card - prob why not been considered before. Wasn’t there one outside post office and still is2where people were abit nervous of using? Hope I am wrong but won’t see me rushing to use it…sure lots of folk will benefit thou. Not a great fan or user of Iceland but when it closed years ago people complained.. Guess they only b look at bigger sites - can’t recall an express one but a pity to those who frequent the store. Strange that Tesco can use it as local but Iceland can’t - guess it is power of large supermarkets. Personally would have loved an Aldi or Lidl but clearly site to small. Only grocery stores left to come are Waitrose, Aldi, Lidl…
  7. I belong in “ should wear on” especially after bus and hospital visits last time I was up - a month ago and Gita virus which took 3 weeks to leave me.. In future, always in London especially in confined spaces..bus, tube, train etc, will be doing so. In vulnerable cat so can’t afford to get sick as have family responsibilities as well. On that note, only had 3 Covid jabs so far and very reluctant to get more… would like to avoid flu shot as well - only doing that as gotta come up for hosp apts in Jan.. had enough junk been in my body in last year - on that note, and I know it is personal pref/choice would be interested in hearing from other vulnerable as a matter of interest only - not judgement at all….
  8. Krystal is great - short walk or hop on a bus… not sure if you can have both a sametime… assume your surgery doesn’t do it…
  9. Well Carneige Library went through carnage a few years ago.. basement which had toilet facilities - just refurbished all ripped out to make way for health club - private of course. Hours of opening reduced… lock in protest that hit press against refurb plans! Now library much smaller than it was, community rooms available to hire - not cheap.. but folk now us rhe whole building as combination of library and community - choir, yoga/Pilates classes, stop in on certain days for health advice, etc.. cafe only serves tea/coffee and cakes as kitchen gutted! Hours of opening more than before so really win win.. those who have not been, know it is EDF but go have a look - beautifully building and use to be lovely enclosed garden at back. Sorry completely off track for Dulwich library….
  10. Also has a free film afternoon once a month… shows a range of films.. Free as well. On first floor. Not great toilets but still.. Staff are all very helpful. Have lessons one to one if you need help on most computer issues. Can borrow iPad as well on site - ground floor. Extremely well stocked library with some new titles as well.
  11. Love Blue Brick and have had some lovely meals there,, never had a problem with service, always so accommodating.. Try and support local business, as much as I can.. on a recent visit, clapped my hands that Gail’s was done.. pity, as staff were great at the start, just went down hill …. Be, nice not to see another eateries..chain.. all for supporting individuals.
  12. Such a pity there is not, apart from Spinach a decent affordable vegetarian.. there is a stall in North Cross Market which does really yummy food and different one in Herne Hill Market… both tell me they can’t afford the rents charged on spaces… I wonder if there is a community space available? Know Kingswood House might be interested but that is such a hike..
  13. On news last night, section on kids with catapults killing all sorts of life…
  14. Have a good meet up with forum
  15. Oh, I met you years ago… doubt you can remember bought stuff from you. Drink meet up aren’t really my thing - know plenty of folk on the forum - several have become friends.
  16. I don’t ’ have the time that you seem to have…and not that good at Facebook nor do I like Why don’t you take the time you have to find your board.. people have given you suggestions…. i was asking for other people’s opinions… Why don’t you and I agree not to comment on each others post or replies.. As for mate, was referring to Malambu posting or reply…
  17. Stuff on Facebook disappears so fast - can only explain what I saw… ask your mate…
  18. Well if it is true, would have thought even with restriction would be better than living in a-room or two in a hotel.. who knows…. Thinking about it - a couple of years ago countries were offering incentives a villages were dwindling or population was as well - oh well we will see what other forum items think…
  19. Just seen on Facebook, hasten to add not sure if real but think so -26 counties offering incentives for families to go to them. Sadly, don’t think singles are included. Spain, Greece, Canada, Ireland etc of course stipulations attached . Were I younger would jump at opportunity - cash incentive…. Some towards refurbishing properties, some have to go to colleege

    Lego….

Hi, Anyone have any that is looking for a home? Can collect on Monday… Tks. More along the lines of making things….
  21. Years ago, I adopted a moggie from Battersea… thought it was 6:7 but was actually 10… great mog though… no checks at all as in home check.. spoke to me about cat ownership, had several before, paid my money and off we went. I do get what they are trying to do totally and agree.. having said that, RSPCA think that is the one, Near cemetery in Norwood, until last year was offering free microchipping & s’thing else… Realistically, really is a drop in the ocean as more cats in London and surrounds… was just totally surprised as to the amount and obv each area is different ….
  22. Sorry have I read this correctly? Almost£250,000 to neuter3,500 moggies? Granted, when neutered a lot less off spring… That sort of money could help elderly, schools - both for books and food for deprived children, carers, a coach for community use…. I am an animal lover but just seems excessive to me when we read in the press how hard some families are coping. Is there not a pill that could be given which would have the same result and be cheaper? What do our European neighbours do? This has been going on for years - why not have launched an appeal when people were more prosperous?
  23. Well you must have a vague idea - perhaps mentioned it to work colleagues? Must know within a month, two weeks ago? Anyway, personally do report it - next time someone might be killed… Up to you thou…
  24. Wasn’t suggesting you took photo - Sod’s Law,no one was around!!! What I meant was others might have taken or indeed, might if spotted taken a photo. Well as you are younger than me, hopefully can run faster! No matter what age, uncomfortable experience…
  25. Abit hard for police to do anything as clearly he is out and about at all times… would help if one had a photo…even taken from afar. Hoping as police are appealing for assistance you reported it..ie tried our local beat officers as opposed to central number and on line or leave message.
