  1. We looked at it, but it didn?t make sense for us in terms of flow, use of space or cost. In the end we stacked our washer and drier in a purpose build cupboard in the kitchen which hides it all away without taking too much space.
  2. Bahn Bahn is really nice.

Good junction design does help reduce accidents (and vice versa bad junction design increases accidents). Clearly we should hope everyone drives carefully, but that will be scant comfort if you're hit by someone not spotting the changed priorities at this junction.
  4. My anecdotal view is that speeds on Adys Road have increased since the double yellows went in, certainly we've had an increase in large vehicles getting stuck on the nutbrook/adys corner.
  5. When we were doing our loft we designed a terrace over the rear of the house; changing the pitched roof to a flat terrace. We proposed 1.8m high screening (frosted glass) around the edge of the terrace to allay any privacy concerns, our architect felt this was the minimum we could get away with. When the council officer visited he seemed ok with the privacy measures but said he'd recommend against granting planning permission as the terrace would be visible from the road. In the end we decided to remove the terrace from the application to make sure the rest of it got through, as we were raising the ridgeline. As Jules-and-Boo mentions you'll also need to think about the structural elements, this is for building control rather than planning. A local architect would be able to advise you on this as well as the planning aspects. Do you know if the roof terraces around you have planning permission? There are a few on our road that from their construction I'm sure are built without planning consent (i.e. they are accessed through a normal window and have lightweight fencing).
  6. How is the existing Low Emmision Zone for heavy vehicles monitored and enforced?
  7. It isn't suggested to take effect for cars until October 2021, so another three and a half years. I'm not sure a further 'residents' sunset clause could be justified. Also most new cars were Euro 6 from Sept 2015 (all were from Sept 2016). As PCPs are typically 3 or 4 years it seems doubtful it will have a disastrous effect on PCP final payment values for current PCPs.

  9. It seems to vary some boundaries run along the middle of the street others run along the back gardens. There are also some streets where the ward boundary has the lower half of the street in one ward and the upper half in another.
  10. We tend to do Tenerife as it's a good balance between flying time (4hrs) and guaranteed year-round sun. Friends of ours have done Cape Verde which is cheaper but less developed. I'd happily recommend Baobab Suites in Costa Adeje, Tenerife which are self-catering apartments but with hotel facilities (restaurant, pool, sports club, spa on site).
  11. We bought a gro-clock and found that to an this has calmed down the night time visits from our 3 year old. It's not perfect but it helps provide a clear way of communicating that it's night time and he should be in his bed. Also does she still nap during the day? We found that stopping the afternoon nap around three years old gave better sleep at night.
  12. He does and I greatly appreciate the work he does. In my mind the problem is that Southwark council are so opaque and inaccessible that contacting councillors over fairly trivial issues is the only way to get a timely response.
  13. James - Thanks, the number on https://forms.southwark.gov.uk/ShowForm.asp?fm_fid=276&np=1 (Tel: 020 7525 2000 (24 hours)) just sends you to a recorded message saying the line is closed and open during business hours. Northeastview - It's about two feet deep and seems to have undermined about three paving slabs, one of which has broken and half fallen into the hole. It's not going to swallow a house, but big enough for someone to step into and break a leg.
  14. James I know this is a bit off your patch, but there is a really dangerous broken pavement (and sinkhole) outside 42 Maxted Rd. I?ve reported on the Southwark streets website but I don?t know if that gets looked at on the weekend. On a more general point the Southwark website gives a ?24 hr? number but when you phone it there?s a recording stating it?s only open office hours. Could you ask to have the site updated please?
  15. mikeb Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > And then for some reason the bike lane was on red > while the car lane was on green (so I didn't join > the cycle lane in the end). My observation is that the bike lane goes green followed by the car lane. Of course cyclists who move to the front of traffic wont see the bike lane green.
  16. I went through last night. Although I appreciate the change in priority between Calton Av and Court Lane, I suspect there will be plenty of accidents as the priority is a bit counter-intuitive. Coming the other direction (Tourney to Calton) is confusing and has turned it into a left turn followed by a right turn; at a minimum some no-entry signs or road markings are needed. I also noticed that the natural place for cycles to stop coming out of Calton (ahead of the stop line) means that they can't see the priority signal for cycles, even behind the stop line the priority light isn't exactly obvious.
  17. An 8:40 is really only useful if your office is right by London Bridge, 7:40 allows you to get to other parts of London.
  18. A friend of mine (who volunteers in North London) was saying that Crisis tend to be oversubscribed for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing day, but the setup day (tomorrow) and the rest of Christmas week tend to be less popular for volunteers.
  19. Started showing as an area fault at 8:30ish and service restored to our house at 9:15. Annoyed that I had to waste 20 minutes on the phone doing diagnostics to get a technician booked even though I knew it was an area fault. I?ve raised a complaint for all the good it?ll do.
  20. It?s out again in Adys Rd as of 1am.
  21. I just wanted to say these were great (despite the weather) and our son really enjoyed himself.
  22. Mine was up and down on Thursday with a brief outage on Wednesday too.
  23. As I understand it lists are drawn up entirely on the entrance criteria for each school, the school doesn't know (or care) where you placed them on the preference. One thing we were told (at Belham) is that if you're not in the top 1 or 2 places on the waiting list you are extremely unlikely to get in through the waiting list.
  24. Given we get one of these every month or so on the corner of Adys and Nutbrook I have a great deal less sympathy. This means she was cutting the corner and not paying much attention to where she was turning. She was also going quickly enough to drive up the bollard and wedge herself on it. It may be that the roadwork sign obscured her view, but she should have been exercising extra caution in that case. As drivers I'm sure we've all had moments where we've been careless and most of the time we get away with it, but there could have been a child on that pavement waiting to cross as she cut that corner.
