We want witha Bugaboo Bee as a good compromise between portability and being usable from day zero. Our hope had been to have that as our only pushchair ever, but the nursery only had storage for umbrella strollers so we have a lightweight one of those too. PM me if you want more thoughts.

I think you're going to have to foot the bill for a surveyor. However if you just agree to use whichever surveyor they nominate you can at least keep your costs down by only having to pay for one.

We always take 1 nappy per hour of travel, plus a full pack of wet wipes. The other things to carry on are a couple of changes of comfortable clothes (babygrows, tracksuit trousers NOT jeans) and some basic medicines (sachets of calpol etc). We took to checking the stroller at the main check-in counter and just using a carrier through the airport; packing up the stroller at the gate was always a hassle especially when juggling a baby. Some airports (e.g. Dubai) do have 'courtesy buggies' when you get off the plane.

We've been going to Tenerife since our son was 9 months old. It's a good balance of being far enough south you're guaranteed good weather but still a manageable flight time with a baby. We stay at Baobab Suites in Costa Adele, full cooking facilities in the suites as well as a couple of restaurants on site and room service. We also find having a separate bedroom and living area means you don't need to go to sleep when your baby does.

My vote would be for a Roku stick as it supports the widest range of service and is cheap. I have two at home and have no complaints.

Personally I avoid London Bridge and Southern Trains at all costs, they've been terrible for over a year and show no signs of improvement. The overground/Jubilee route is quick and reliable on the way in though you'll let a few trains go by at Canada Water. On the way home you sometimes have to wait 10-15 mins for a train at Canada Water which can get fairly crowded, but it's still fine. I get on the 7:44 at Peckham Rye and a few people do get seats so you might get lucky at Denmark Hill. On the way home I get a seat about once a week.

James - whilst you're talking to the legal department could you ask them why my complaint that double yellows appeared on the north side of the Adys/Nutbrook junction despite not being in the consultation was ignored?

We just had our entire house (5 beds) carpeted by Stephen and he's been nothing short of fantastic. We had found a couple of carpets we liked elsewhere and using his carpet detective skills he managed to source the exact carpets for us significantly cheaper. His fitting costs were very competitive too. The quality of the workmanship is first rate and he worked very quickly. We wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

It's a bit crap where we are in Adys Road but O2 are no better. EE offer WiFi calling on the iPhone which means that if reception's not great at home you can still make/receive calls.

Jasmine - thank you for joining this thread and I hope you'll continue to be engaged. I've unfortunately found my local councillors none to responsive so far but hope this is changing.

My experience with the Adys Rd/Nutbrook St junction is that it has made parking much more difficult and led to an INCREASE in incidents as cars now try to cut the corner more regularly and predictably hit the bollard. I haven't even been able to get a response from my ward councillors who clearly don't care.

I wasn't at the meeting last night (got stuck at work) but I was at one of the workshops that occurred over the summer (also not well publicised but they did drop flyers through the door of Adys Rd. My understanding is that the proposals shown last night were the result of inputs from a small group of local residents (two workshops of about 20 people) plus a survey of local primary schools. I think some of the problems they're trying to address (e.g. the Chadwick Road junction) are real issues, but it does seem like a big scheme without a huge demand. Unfortunately from my perspective fixing the jams around the lower part of Bellenden Rd and the reduction of traffic (especially HGVs/Coaches) on Maxted, Nutbrook and Adys is outside of their scope and nobody in the council seems interested in engaging.

Which was basically the point that a dozen of us made when we objected to the double yellows. Unfortunately we were ignored and "our" councillors don't seem particularly interested in engaging with us. This is in contrast with the ED councillors (including James Barber) who blocked the stupid proposal at their community council.

It's the Lane Ward councillors, I've emailed them and heard nothing unsurprisingly.

I think it's partially that, partially because the shape allows vehicles (especially larger ones) to drive up it and trap their wheel arches and partially because it's completely black. Adding some reflective material would be an easy touch to improve matters. That said unlike posts it can't be bent or broken and just needs re-concreting in every month or so, it would probably be more expensive for the council to endless replace damaged bollards. This is probably why they switched the tall bollards out for this one.

It would be a nice thought, but I'm not sure one way would help much with this particular problem. A large vehicle can't safely navigate that corner whichever direction it is going. Unfortunately the council seem completely disinterested in solving this. They did a traffic survey over a year ago, said there was a problem and then have done nothing since.

Well a massive Cedars Assist lorry towing another flat bed truck just ran straight over it tonight and broke it out of its concrete. What is this the 6th time this year it has had to be concreted back in. Those double yellow lines will just encourage that type of vehicle to try and make the turn rather than back out.Shame the council don't seem interested in solving the issue.

It gets worse; having consulted on double yellows on the North East side of Adys Rd at Nutbrook, they decided to paint them on the South East side too. I've emailed the council (got the usual gibberish reply) and emailed my ward councillors (and have been ignored as per usual). Pretty sure what they've done is unlawful, but I'm not sure I can fight the machine.

I think the other thing (that also happened in my experience in West London in 2009) is that people who don't absolutely need move to just don't move. So I expect there will be a dwindling of supply as well as of demand, with more sellers being ones in 'distress' who need to move.

I'd also like to recommend Billy. He and his brother have just fitted a new boiler, hot water tank, underfloor heating and a number of new radiators, as well as basically replumbing the house! He was really competitively price and more importantly has fantastic attention to detail (OCD he says). He dealt admirably with our less than helpful main contractor and worked around the delays in the build schedule. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.
