Oh sorry ebbrell ... you really do have my sympathy and I really hope you get your phone back - I guess I was just responding to your first post: "It's technically the most humiliating way to get mugged. At least there's some dignity when it's a gang of hoodies..." But I wasn't belittling your experience... I was just demonstrating how terribly liberal and East Dulwich I am. Sorry.

Actually I find it interesting that you are so surprised ebbrell79... I too have encountered large, noisy deaf groups behaving offensively - but actually, it's not so surprising, is it.... they represent a cross section of society, don't they? So you are as likely to find a bunch of t***ers amongst a deaf group, as you are hearing folk. And birds of a feather flock together - I'm sure that particular group 'bond' over many more things than simply being deaf. Why do we expect people with a disability to be well-behaved? Anyway judging from his earlier post, my money's on Macroban...

I have always kept gay pets... easier to train than a husband .... But remember a homosexual is for life, not just for a night out at G.A.Y

Mmmm, I hear your point Scruffymummy but actually it's a question of how we educate ourselves isn't it? if education comes from having an inquiring mind and asking questions and being prepared for the answers then I think lozzyloz exhibited all those qualities in his post on page one. Surely having a dialogue on forums like this is one way we can go about learning more about lives different to our own. If people are geuninely interested then is it really such a drag to engage with them?

Ooooh - I had a lovely weekend, thank you very much and did East Dulwich proud. But yes, it was a dilemma. I bought knee high socks as advised ... - but I got them home and my poor little legs were so short that really there were no knees to be seen and they looked decidedly odd with the silk dress. Agggghhhh! So then I moved onto fake tan...Neutrogena nourishing glow...and got myself a lovely pedicure. Decision made. Or so I thought... For as I sat on the train it started to rain and once I hit the North the bitter wind made me breathe a sigh of relief that nestled in my baggage was a pair of black 40 denier tights....Hoorah, for the bleak North since if I'm honest that was my favourite option. And goodness, let me tell you... I stood a mile out from the forty-something wannbee wags I encountered that night. Darlings - I felt decidedly London in my attire and very pleased with myself too...fake tan, botox, and a distinct smell of desperation were found by Bellenden Belle on Eccleshal Road on Friday night. Indeed I am convinced I saw someone trying to pull a Chuckle Brother.. Did I get praised for my magnificent effort? Not exactly but I like to believe that sometimes silence is golden!

RosieH Wrote: > > *flounces with a swish of a particularly flouncy > multi-layered chiffon skirt" > Darling RosieH ... I think we can now see where the problem lies. Flouncy multi-layered skirts only work on Sienna Miller (who wants to give the illusion of a large backside).... You need to squeeze that delicious rump into a J-Lo style pair of hotpants and hit Lordship Lane with an alcopop in your hand. Omigod... did I really just use the word rump? Three days in the North and I have had a personality change.

Yes... and also mentioned in the Top Ten Complaints about East Dulwich thread in the grown up section as well.... I think it makes a nice change from breasts actually...

My favourite trick - and this will probably make some people's blood boil - is that if I am running for a bus and pass a crossing I will reach out and press the button mid-run just to slow down traffic and give me a chance to get to the bus stop in time. Makes my day when it works!

"I've had enough of you lot, you're all...."

RosieH Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I do think that flouncing is more acceptable > within your own gang and wonder how that plays out > on here As a flouncer, I have to say I flounced when very much an outsider on the forum... I think it was literally one of my first ever threads... and actually what made me come back was the fact that even during the debate there were enough people who made me feel welcome. And yes, I did get lovely pms from people saying Come Back - which really were no reflection on myself, because I was a stranger to everyone at that point, but instead reflected the fact that many people on this forum really care about it being an inclusive place, rather than a clique. -

Precocious? Excuse me .... how very dare you - right that's it, I've had enough, I won't endure this a moment longer... -

"But alas, I have better things to do with my time, so have clearly got the message - I hope you enjoy the "community" you have created here." I blush reading my own statement from May 2007.... mmmmm, one year on I clearly don't have better things to do with my time - thank God! -
Actually I must agree with Mockney Piers and Sean - what I love about this forum is that we all engage with each other .... whether it's about parenting groups, cat flaps, politics or alcohol - we get to know each other not as sources of information, but as people. I think it makes EDF quite a rare thing - and personally I love the fact that often individuals can disagree - with passion, belief and conviction - and it doesn't mean they aren't welcome on the forum, and that the same people who fall out over one issue, won't find common ground over something else.

28. I don't live there, I don't shop there, in fact I think I only vaguely know its location, but how can people possibly like living in the Bellenden Regeneration area? Regneration? Pah! Damn those Bollards! And besides.... it's all going to go to rack and ruin anyway- all those lovely shops and cafes are going to close down any minute now, just you wait and see...

What's so great about living in East Dulwich?
Bellenden Belle replied to Spangles30's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I could just say what Pickle said - for me the sense of community is everything...shops I can take or leave. I can't think of anywhere that matches your wishlist...a theatre and a cinema and a residential area...mmm, Bromley? If that kind of theatre is your cup of tea ...personally I feel ED is within easy reach of the centre and that suits me fine. I can reach the National Theatre, Old Vic, Young Vic, and the West End by bus...and the Royal Court is one tube stop and a short train ride ...perfect! Jags is a gym that is within reach and suits my budget ...so I have to get off my backside to get there...well, I can make the effort. Wherever you live you can say the glass is half empty or half full... that mindset is a choice. Perhaps I would like to hear where you are thinking of as an alternative Spangles? -
So What Song is Stuck In Your Head Today?
Bellenden Belle replied to HonaloochieB's topic in The Lounge
Almost like being in love / this can't be love...Rufus Wainwright after Judy Garland.... both jaunty swing numbers, tis the weekend after all ! -
I think I was a mini capitalist at a young age, and made sure I worked for a decent wage. After one week of slogging in a local bakery for a pittance; I hit the high street.... whether it's W H Smith, Next, JD Sports, Boots or a supermarket...the list is endless.... these are companies that will train staff, give them a decent wage, and staff perks like discounts on purchases. Get a Saturday job and you will find there are always hours to be had during Summer and Christmas holidays. And you get to work as part of a team - which can make a difference, even if it's just people to moan with over a tea break.

Now if she had Simon we would have reached a conclusion a page back surely? Now... do you sugar or wax dear.... I can't answer your sugaring questions I'm afraid Brendan... but I think it's similar to waxing, so yes probably. I used to use parcel tape in my teens .... I was terribly thrifty back then.

Absolutely Mightyroar. No pain, no gain boys!

Hee hee Keef - even I'm a little shocked by this thread. I mean here we are on our second page of discussing tights versus leggings versus knee highs... and we still haven't solved the problem of world peace. And I blush to think that I have been responsible for the most vacuous thread on the forum to date. I'm a very serious person really. Even when wearing turquoise knee-high socks! Right next up ...waxing, shaving or sugaring ...relax, I'm kidding...
-
But Moos - if I was tall like you I'd live in trousers too! Most of the time I look like a farmer's wife in trousers... Ooooh, wedding dresses - I loved mine! Not that I could fit in it now .... I was two stone lighter then... can you imagine - two stone! Mmmm, don't think I'm brave enough to do deep pink - I fear I will look like Zandra Rhodes! Though with her strong connection to the Bellenden Regeneration area that probably is quite befitting...
-
Oooh, DC - don't worry.... I hope I didn't sound too stern .... I'm very protective of poor Gok, aren't I? Taking of makeover/ trash/ self-help telly - did anyone catch Fergie doing her stuff... I watched the first episode but not last night... she was with a family up North sorting out their diet. I actually liked her. Knocked the socks off Gillian Quack McKeith - or whatever that witch's name is ....

Ooooh, I'd like Gok Wan to be my flatmate too! Or a fabulous radio presenter called Baylen Leonard because he has a passion for musicals and I could imagine us starting each day with a medley from Sweet Charity, Chicago, and the Producers. Oh and George Clooney next door if he promised to stop making those Kenco ads.
