Has Southwark council stopped free dog poo bags?
Angelina replied to Soylent Green's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just buy biodegradable or compostable dog poo bags, most are just plastic which will go into landfill and stay plastic for many many years to come. -
The Plough has cask ales and the food is good, the staff are nice. Dulwich but not really East Dulwich which is fantastic. Actually, don’t go there and spoil it please.

what ID will they accept?

The only way to stop people doing something has to be extreme. if it makes it too expensive or inconvenient to drive, people will stop. if will of course affect those who have to drive for work, or cannot get around otherwise.
-
I think LTNs are a good thing - however there also needs to be a drive to reduce the number of car journeys - in part people not jumping in the car by default, and also by improved train services and other public transport. Unnecessary car journeys being the most obvious and quickest impact. If there are areas that are affected by infrequent buses, have you written to TfL and said that? If there are more buses introduced, there should be a related reduction in cars. Of course, people choose to live where they do, and transport options is a big part of that.

that's helpful - do they pick him up in the morning and drop him home later? What's the day rate?

Oh he was just lost? I’ve just seen that picture. Hopefully he’ll be home soon, looks like he has a brother or sister. Id love an update to know he’s back home
-
I hope he doesn't get reunited with this owner, who decided to just leave him on his own. I'd prefer he found a nice home where he will be properly looked after

so judgey - none of your business how other people want to behave in such matters. -
You did the right thing - always better to be safe. Happy to have taken him something - my dog thought we were going out for a picnic!!
-
I hope so - he'll find a lovely home that way. he deserves it I'd have been happy to have brought him home with me.

Just been up and taken the dog water and food - he's much calmer now. Such a beauty. Looks more like a boxer from a distance. Some people are just awful - I can't imagine every abandoning a dog. The police there are very nice too, so hopefully it will all end well.
-
Poor thing. We were just about to go up there - I would have done sooner if I'd seen your message in time. I'd have called the vet. It MIGHT be a banned breed - however, ANY dog is likely to be very frightened if he's been abandoned - don't assume that it's a dangerous dog. Staffy's are NOT dangerous.

It's far more serious than is being noted. One shop has regular shoplifters, who are totally brazen and no attempt to hide it. They have threatened the manager and that they will stab him when he is out, if he challenges them. They are rightly scared. Discuss it all you like at the community meetings, but there is a nasty, violent under current that is not being policed and it's just giving the kids and criminals a green light. There is a lot that is not being reported.

It is not at all about children's health. it's about minimising the traffic but using children's health is a great cover.

Whatever came of the insider trading questions with Rishi? I’ve not heard anything.

We love Wagamama. About time to see something reasonably priced and good value. They also have an amazing vegan menu. Those who have said they've had bad experiences, hopefully you've spoken to the restaurant? We have one by our office and they are top notch - super busy, lovely staff and the food is perfect.

The problem with shops like this (and shops like Primark) where everything is cheap - even if it's size is smaller so it's not really cheaper - is that the environmental impact factor is ignored. Not saying shops like Sainsbury are any better, come to think of it Everything is disposable and made of cheap quality so needs replacing often. Batteries for example - you can buy 20 for £2 but they last a few weeks and need throwing away and replacing. A better way would be to sell cheaper but good quality rechargeable batteries Consumers have a great deal of power when it comes to making choices that mean shops become more environmentally friendly, but it's clear that that only happens if it isn't an inconvenience.

Looking for Volunteer positions for Duke of Edinburgh
Angelina replied to lynners's topic in The Lounge
We volunteered at Vauxhall City Farm, which was amazing -
Interesting to hear that Labour have made the Borough bankrupt. It’s almost like saying that we can trust the tories to keep us afloat and financially secure.

EU is promoting sharing of gas and reduction in usage to avoid any economic crash, which would affect all members. Germany is the biggest user.

Thank you for your replies. The issue is that they have just added it to the meter so each time I top up, it takes a percentage so I'm technically paying for it - which is why I want to have it removed.

I see Germany are saying they were cheated. Just like 1966.
