  1. Holland were playing Jamaica so we decided to fly over (mental day!). What a ball! Not even particularly liking footie much, it was great fun - almost everyone was wearing the colours and all the pubs were decorated. #why-am-I-in-London?#
  2. I found this https://successatschool.org/advicedetails/506/Work-Experience-Ideas
  3. You can't do everything. Don't do the cleaning when the baby is asleep - that's when you (well, mum) needs to get her rest too. and drink coffee instead of tea, that way it doesn't matter if it gets cold. get your shopping delivered, get outside as much as possible, don't worry that you're not doing it by the book (you'll instinctively just know), try lots of different types of food (noodles were a wonder!) and get used to repeating everything a million times, keep your grown up stuff separate from baby-time (whether it's deep conversations, checking your emails - it can all have a delegated time - don't mix them up, get plenty of baby grows - ones with feet and little shorty ones, religiously have half an hour to yourself each day to maintain sanity, spend time with your partner (same reason), learn about how baby's develop and learn so you can understand what's going on and what they need, stay patient or get someone to take over for a bit to give you a break, baths are nice if you get in too - and get a door bouncer :-) it's a wonderful time - don't be too busy with things that don't really matter. The important moments in life happen when you're not doing anything important ;-)
  4. does a 'Pour Over' put hairs on your goatee? .... and maybe your trousers shorten a couple of inches?
  5. well, some buffoon who didn't think it through.... "What will people do when the bikes run out of juice?" Maybe they forgot that question needed answering.
  6. Very sensible approach.
  7. It would, but the moment passes really quickly. I would hope that a driver flagged down would think it was more likely a woman needing help than an organized car jack (which also des happen, but probably less likely?
  8. I though they couldn't move if the doors were open. This is shocking and I hope it's been forwarded to TfL for an answer.
  9. if you take her to the vets, they would check for a micro chip and locate owners. maybe she likes you....

    Bread

I wrap our homemade loaves in linen and they don't go mouldy - they keep fresh until we've eaten it all - a good few days. Go and tell the Brickhouse about the bread - they may have a new baker or a new recipe, but I'm sure they'll appreciate the feedback. Can't say they'll agree with you though, or maybe it's just not been right until now, and they've got it sorted (more sour)? Maybe other people loved it? They won't know if you don't tell. Personally, I like the olive bread... have you tried that?
  11. we will continue to support it - it's fab.
  12. ohno :-( won't support the circus
  13. no, I don't - but I do like coffee and walking, so sounds good to me!
  14. thanks Dom, lessons learnt :-(
  15. how exciting! when is it coming?
  16. different to the steamfair they had earlier in the summer?
  17. hi Alice, I don't think my daughter saved hers to the cloud, or turned the cloud off. She said she thinks it will be ok if the phone is switched on, I just need to know if there's anything we can do if it's not.
  18. There's lots of software on the internet available for download, but so far the device has not been turned on since it was stolen. Are there any techies who can help me with what to do? I really want to get photos back. Is all hope lost?
  19. Oh no! I'm sure that's a tough decision. Have you looked into options to manage/ reduce your allergy? HEPA air filters significantly reduce the allergens - it's not actually the hair that causes the allergic reaction, but the proteins from saliva or dry skin (when they clean). You can get hoovers with these filters too. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Purifier-Multifunctional-Eliminator-Allergies-Bacteria/dp/B07F24WVS7/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1535403170&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=hepa+air+filters&psc=1 You can also get immunotherapy from your doctor. It might help.....
  20. We are emotional creatures and people respond differently to things. There is a whole thread on irrational rage. Get some empathy. Jeez.
  21. That's brilliant, Alice. Happy to be able to help :-)
  22. is your memory stick registering as a drive? here's a video - it should be really easy
  23. Change solicitors. There are many useless ones out there who drain your money and do sod all for it. Have no qualms about sacking them. Likewise, there are many out there who are beyond competent - so choose wisely. I've had experience of both - and the difference is huge. It sounds like you're unequal shares, as you both have different contributions (and your contributions will change over time - as you pay off the mortgage. 1. You will have contributed 25% deposit and 20% of any payments (so, at the very beginning, you contribution will be most) 2. Partner will have contributed 80% of any payments (at the end, he'll have paid 80% of the mortgage, or 60% of the total) if it was equal, you would both get the same amount regardless of contribution. So you need a deed of trust to be drawn up. This needs to be as detailed as possible, so make sure you find a solicitor who knows what they're doing. If you fall out and end up arguing about it, this document will save all the pain. You don't want it to be ambiguous. I found this https://www.samconveyancing.co.uk/news/conveyancing/can-you-have-unequal-shares-in-a-property-4387
