daughter denied medical care by father
Angelina replied to Angelina's topic in The Family Room Discussion
yes, thanks - but this is the problem - she cannot be supported in London unless she is registered in London. Hence my quandary - she is not accessing the support that there is, where she is, as her father is not supporting her and taking her to the appointments. -
one of my daughters lives with her dad and I've just found out that he refuses to take her to the doctor. She's been diagnosed anorexic and had been referred to a dieticain - he's not been taking her to appointments and when I've asked him to go back to the GP he says he will but he has not. He has just told her that he will not take her either. He's agreed she can move back with me (as he can't cope with her) but refuses to sign the paperwork. While his is going back to court, I've tried to take her to my GP in London, but because it's a longer term treatment than an emergency (visit) they won't see her. They live outside of London so I'm planning on going down there to the GP with her one day after school. Will the GP make notes of the lack attention he's providing, as well as the stressful/ circumstances she's in? he's particularly controlling and she's quite scared of him finding out. I want a proper medical record and a referral to a psychiatrist in London, which I'll arrange privately.

I have a cigarette (rollie actually) while I'm planning my day first thing in the morning. I'm usually awake at 5am and then start the school routines. I have a lot going on - work is intense, stuff outside of work too. I decide how I'm going to get on, the mental approach I'll take - so I sort out my plan and mental strategy. It's important - saves me feeling overwhelmed or missing anything important. It feels like a strategic approach to battle! :-) After that, I don't really smoke at all!

As for farming standards in EU it is a myth that animals are safe and happy. Animal abuse is rife and don't pretend otherwise. Out of sight/ out of mind. There are regulations but they are not enforced. Compassion in World Farming - www.ciwf.org.uk UK is better placed to set up it's own laws and standards than it is to influence the multi EU countries required to make any changes - particularly as animal welfare is low on its list. Having said that, there are certain things that the EU has put in place which UK would not have done on it's own. It's swings and roundabout. As consumer - you have power over what you buy and I would hope that your exercise your right and make your choices with your money - as it's clear you actually have little influence otherwise.

is this connected to the cigarette scam reported in other thread?

There was no need for lots of good places to eat - as everyone was out partying. Now it's the opposite. different mix of people. Pity, really.

A friend of mine gave a chap ?10 for a little green bag and didn't see him again. He did not see the irony when he told the policeman walking past what had happened and could they look for him....

Shopping robot spotted on Lordship Lane
Angelina replied to Carrie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don't know.... I'd probably trip over it. Don't often watch my feet when I'm out. I imagine it would be a bit like my cats at home - always under my feet and a general hazard. -

We have them around our offices. They'd last five minutes in Peckham out on their own. A good practical application of technology, but environment needs careful consideration. -
I do hear you, but there are a number of good suggestions on the forum - and it's quite clear that the idea of new lamp-posts is not thought to be the best. It is very much a case of not being interested in what the local community have to say. Perhaps because it's not the applause that was wanted. Investment in the vacant shops - maybe pop up shops at a reduced rent - would bring new life into the area. This was a fantastic success in Brixton.

Rats amid filth surrounding Sainsburys car park
Angelina replied to grancabrona's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
rats are common in a city. The issue is the rubbish. It's either Southwark's responsibility or Sainsbury's responsibility. If it's the latter, Southwark might be interested to know it's not happening. I would suggest call environmental services and make a complaint. -
The NHS is in such a mess and with multiple factors affecting it, that it is not possible to identify one, singly. I would love to review their budgets and what they spend money on. It would take a complete objective review - but unfortunately, it would seem too many beneficiaries to allow that to happen...

Bakerloo line extension - have your say for Peckham Rye
Angelina replied to Goldentoothpick's topic in The Lounge
well, Brixton is an absolute nightmare. I used to like it but you can hardly move on the main road now. -

When the tube comes, more people will come. It will end up like Brixton. -
Dogs being nicked from outside Sainsbury East Dulwich
Angelina replied to PeckhamRose's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Dogs in food shops/ restaurants? No thank you. There's nothing wrong with leaving dogs outside, briefly. Although you would think people would realise the stress a busy street would cause a dog. It is shocking though that people will just untether your dog and walk off with it. Just as it is people grabbing your phone, robbing your houses, slashing your tyres.... There's a very serious pattern of bad behaviour in ED so it would just be wise to not provide an opportunity. It's very very stupid to do so, knowing the pattern of behaviour locally. -
yes - in order to be labeled 'free range' - chickens only have to be outside for a very short portion of their lives. It does not at all indicate that they are allowed outside - it just means they are not caged.

10%? so the pork in a bun is just adding it on even above that. supply and demand....... basic. they probably realised they were selling it regardless so just added more on top.

You do have to pay towards external works, unfortunately - it's the terms of the lease you signed when you bought the property. The major works schedule will have been circulated in advance and the cost should have been communicated. Was that not the case? If you are arguing that the work wasn't done to specification, then you should make that point to the council, as they are managing the contract for the work. If they are saying this work didn't happen because you didn't allow access, then - if they are now offering to get the work done - you need to arrange with them to do this. It's not going to happen that you don't have to pay. A last resort would be that they approach your mortgage company and ask for the sum to be added to the mortgage.

'Don't care' is exactly right. It's the same reason we buy washing powder that has a clear large warning on the side saying 'dangerous to environment' yes - go look at your Persil Automatic (or what it is you use) - it's probably next to the warning that says 'Keep out of reach of children'
