Looking to buy or adopt a dog
Angelina replied to sarahsouthlondon's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You are best going to Battersea and adopting a dog. You’ll be able to meet different dogs and work with the staff to understand the breeds, temperaments etc. Training is ongoing. If you get a very well trained puppy and don’t continue and maintain the training you will soon have an untrained puppy. You have to put the work in. Are you ready for this? It’s a lifetimes commitment and you don’t get to walk away or change your mind. Maybe register with Borrow My Doggy for six months and get to know local dogs. I’d happily meet you for a dog walk if it will help? -
I don't think anyone wants people who need support not to have it.
-
My perspective is based on reason - my first comment was a question - what is driving the forecast increase in claimants. It suggests that - if so many new claims are expected, that either there is something seriously wrong or the tests are not sufficiently stringent. Happy for you to have a stab at that.
-
It isn't a blanket removal of support though is it. It's changing the criteria, so that those who need the support get it and those who need other support get that.
-
Perhaps it needs to be in conjunction with other measures - eg Pathway to Work - and perhaps the question of why there is such an increase in applicants forecast, needs to be addressed. There is also Govt funding for people to use (Access to Work)
-
Do you disagree that the projected increase in the cost of providing benefit's is unaffordable, and that change is not required?
-
You have told us you have reported a group of young people to the police for dangerous behaviour. It is sensible to provide a description. Why would you want to tell us if not so we can be observant and aware of potential danger?
-
be careful not to over-react. groups of people can generally be intimidating - doesn't mean they are up to anything illegal. The groups of kids on our nearby estate are very intimidating but are actually just really nice kids with nowhere to hang out. I used to be scared of walking past them until we actually spoke with them
-
not at all odd to ask for descriptions - why is everyone so sensitive about it? If you see a group of kids being obnoxious and intimidating, it would help to be able to decide if they like like the group who were previously reported to the police. It might make it easier for people to feel that doing so might be helpful.

Do not show fear - they will take full advantage of that Little sods.

It's the tech corporations pushing it, with (literally) billion dollar deals going on - they're not concerned with the humanity side of it, although are saying it will be harmonious
-
These are very real and sensible questions to ask - and seem to be dismissed or swept way. There are indications of a catastrophic impact to human life, but that is also being dismissed - and we carry on regardless
-
what's wrong with people? just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. you can go to a restaurant and order through an app, and then go and collect your food at the bar, or you can choose to go to a restaurant where you will have a waiter. AI will inevitably cause severe losses at entry level across many industries (call centres, data entry, customer service). In fact it already is. The scale will be far more severe than any indication by AI companies etc (AI will compliment the workforce, not replace it). Do you want to support this - or do you want to support people? Make your choices wisely - the consumer has FAR MORE power than you realise
-
they should be interested - you've had someone trespass on your property and break into your car, and there is clear record of that
-
surely there are fingerprints?

We have found 3 stag beetles in the old tree stump, and single nesting bees in the grass, so we're still not mowing it. I have taken the seeds head off the dart grass and trimmed the dead bluebells and it's alright.

They don't think and I seriously believe they couldn't care less.

the pond needs cleaning regardless of the rubbish being thrown or blown

Since the ES have posted such a glowing report of the festival, perhaps they'd be interested in a report into the resulting damage, or the Guardian?
-
I completely agree. Pride used to be in Brixton and Brockwell Park before it outgrew it and moved to Finsbury Park. Quite reasonable to accept limitations and respond properly
-
Have to admit, I did have to check myself - I've been to many festivals and it seems a bit contradictory to challenge one, but our local park is not the place for a festival of this size. It just needs to either scale down to the environment (smaller footprint, less damage) or find a better location. There is a VAST difference between festivals out in the countryside and the same in an urban park.
