  1. I think that charity shops are - in general - no longer the place for bargains and affordable items, as they used to be. It's a little ridiculous that you can spend the same for a second hand item as you can for new. We donate to two particular ones that are not overpriced, because we want our donations to go to people that need them, and are affordable.
  2. There are plenty of charity shops around, even on Lordship Lane. For SCH one, would be interested to see how much of the donations goes to rent and overheads, rather than the actual intended cause.
  3. Good condition, couple of small marks £10 SE22 near library/ Dul Park
  4. Hi, if you have any jars with lids - any size, any number, may I please have them rather than recycling them? thanks Angelina
  5. I think that's the whole point of this thread - highlighting unnecessary and detrimental removal and if it can be avoided
  6. Thanks for your help googling the council responsibilities and being patronising. How lovely of you. That's certainly cleared up the matter.
  7. let's have blind faith in our council doing the right thing, with the right considerations for environment, for wildlife and for conservation, or let's not and expect them to be transparent and accountable
  8. why do we have to guess what the reason is? Why isn't that information readily available, especially in advance.
  9. It sounds very much as though they like using the chainsaws too much
  10. no you shouldn't post the address, just that anyone making a complaint will need the address to do so. ideally, you could work with local neighbours. Is there a street whatsapp group?
  11. just say yes you'd like all the work done - do they take credit as you have no money - when can they start
  12. If having been bitten has left you fearful of dogs, I’m sorry to hear that. You can report an attack, the owner is held liable ( Animals Act). I’d take photos of them and call the police.
  13. As a dog owner, I completely agree. I’ve been chased through the park by a dog, whose owner was completely ignoring it, in spite of me calling her, dog walkers who cannot control the number of dogs they walk, owners who don’t understand dog behaviour (yes, small dogs can be aggressive). It’s not all dog owners though, and it might be better to label them as socially inept people, because really the lack of respect for other people and self entitlement is the main characteristic.
  14. Isn’t that the same time that Sainsbury is open til? It’s hardly late
  15. No - the post yesterday requesting help was three months after the last chat about it - so it's not resolved and the dog is still distress barking every day
  16. Sue, and? that was months ago, the situation has not improved and people are concerned about the dogs welfare.
  17. we need an address to report it to the council can't you find out where it is and go and speak to the people? Owners, neighbours....
  18. They are spectacular! We have been inundated with butterflies this year but I'll now keep a proper lookout.
  19. Given the level of care in Dulwich Park, I would not expect this to be careless or unnecessary. It will grow back.
  20. Given its location, a nice little deli would be good.
  21. "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" ????
  22. Well, for that very reason, I think people who tend to like gardening and cultivating plants tend not to do it
  23. Sue. 1. Taking cuttings or digging plants up from private land is illegal 2. Picking flowers on cultivated land (verges, parks roundabouts etc) is illegal 3. Taking cuttings (from non private land) is not illegal unless it damages the plant as it is not uprooting the plant. You can look online if you want more details - it's readily available information Whether plants are worth growing or not is subjective and you can decide that for yourself. We all like and value different things.
  24. Well, yes, if you think plants worth growing only grow on private land
  25. well, if it's from someone's property - yes.
