  2. I think the problem is specific to rear-facing car seats - certainly de-activate the airbag in this case. Incidentally, latest guidance from doctors is that rear-facing car seats should be used for children aged 4 and under as the risk of serious injury/death is greatly reduced. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1192448/Use-rear-facing-car-seats-age-4-warn-experts.html

  6. Alas, can't make this one.... have fun y'all.
  7. Reading that Sean has made me wish I'd joined the forum earlier than I did - a fun thread without someone calling someone else silly names.
  8. Anna, it does seem that the reasoned arguments put by you and those actually at work in the Public Sector, are not going to change the views of those on the other side of the debate. I do think though that before we accept that it is just down to the perceived 'take it easy' culture in the NHS and other public organisations - the question that needs to be answered is why do those in the private sector have much less sickness than those in the public sector? Is it to do with the 'profits before people' work ethic in the private sector, exploiting employees, many of whom do not get fair representation and are all too aware that if they take time off when they are genuinely sick they may still lose pay or even get the boot??
  9. Annaj and Lulu - excellent posts. For what it's worth, I can say that sickness/absent monitoring in my profession (the emergency services) is also much more stringent than a few years ago and the culture of 'throwing sickies' is long gone. In my opinion tax payers can feel assured that overall they get fantastic value for their money from the NHS/emergency services and other public sector organisations.
  10. "It's not like I lick it or anything" Even if you did that wouldn't bother me. I actually prefer to bite the end off, especially if its a fiddly roll. Mind you, those fancy dispensers are good. I agree about your previous post ref the for sale section, BTW.
  11. Losing the end of the selotape.
  12. I'd spend my 500k on a yacht and sail the world in her, accompanied a beautiful woman, who would apply sunbloc to those hard-to-get-places. Daizie, did you tell us what you would spend the money on? Or haven't I been paying enough attention?

I'm sure you'll feel very welcome and enjoy the evening, I know I did on my first time. I look forward to meeting you there.
  14. Is that Condor in his pipe? He's a rogue, no mistake.
  15. I'll be there too. Looking forward to it.

  18. The full time whistle has finally blown for this fine gentleman.
  19. Sorry I posted this in the wrong section.
  20. Another point in favour of legalisation is that drugs weren't the problem they are today when they were available legally on prescription, up to the mid-1960's.
  21. A bit harsh there, Gimme.
  22. Annaj - spoken like a true scientist. Journalists look for headlines, scientists the truth.
