  1. I bow to your superior local knowledge, as i get out to pubs twice a month, and you would have withdrawal symptoms of you did anything less than your current twice a day... see you tonight.
  2. Two American tourists were standing in Trafalgar Square looking up at the sculpture "Alison Lapper, Pregnant" from their converation it was clear they thought they were looking at the Venus de Milo... citizen
  3. Mockney, I might get drunk tonight, but although he's a thoroughly decent guy, I trust I wont wake up with the fear...
  4. I reckon the Herne was a contender before the New Plough for next Forum drinks - might be better to wait another month for the Plough to settle after it's recent refurb. From the recent postings about the place, they have not yet rid it of it's yobbish crowd - and perhaps Friday nights will still attract them for a while. Having said that, I've popped in there at a quiet time and thought it was impressive. citizen
  5. Naturally, Tillie - I am there for a ringside seat.
  6. *anyone got a set of darts?*
  7. Damn, whilst being a schmuck for a happy ending I feel that we have missed out on the last moments of a scintillating melodrama. It's like that brilliant episode of Hancock's Half Hour where the final page of the novel he is reading is ripped out. C'mon guys, I know a PM is a PM but couldn't you just let us have a little sneak at the contents of those private messages between the two of you. We were privvy to the tiff, I mean, I was even taking sides and now its all come to nothing. All that vitriol dissipated by...what, exactly? On the matter of misunderstandings, Keef claims that much of the disagreement comes from things being Lost in Translation. This happens quite a bit on the Forum. Someone posts but gets their commas and full stops all out of synch and someone reads it wrongly and takes umbrage. Accusation and counter-accusation fly around and then, all is calm as people realise they have rather jumped in, both feet wedged firmly in their mouth. I guess this is just the nature of things when the written word is used in place of the spoken word. Intonation and nuance are difficult when writing: we throw in Smileys, exclaimation marks and the such like, but taking a minute to check that you are saying what you think you are saying, and the other person said what you reckon they said would clear up some of the unnecessary spats. citizen
  8. You old opportunist, Keef. Having a go at bloody doctors is a brilliant arm-chair sport. Bit like moaning about the weather. As it is, my post was referring to the fact the Govt. are being very knee-jerk about this. Of course the checks should be in place anyway. It shouldn't take an incident, in this case doctors being accused of something, for the rules to be tightened up. That is very re-active when surely the key is to be proactive. Shutting the door after the horse has bolted. citizen
  9. Like Tom, I am torn on this too, because i think the presence of Nero has been generally a positive one and, on a selfish note, I love going in there - but I would not like a precedent to be set for other chains. Hate to think that they get their retrospective planning permission and then other chains move in. Must admit it would be one in the eye for them if the council closed them down. citizen
  10. Fractionator, By the look of all the threads, you should be paying a fraction of the price...
  11. Did I catch it right, are the government acting to increase the employment checks in the NHS because some doctors have allegedly done something wrong. Makes a mockery of the innocent-until-proven-guilty rule. citizen
  12. Makes you wish that instead of banning smoking in pubs they'd simply banned fighting in pubs... citizen
  13. Hold on, I liked that house, I saw the programme and wouldn't mind living there. now, let me break open my piggy bank - you never know! citizen
  14. Perhaps they could be granted their licence as on the condition that they employ some more cleaners to keep the place tidy. citizen
  15. When the Plough re-opened its doors...
  16. Sad, but I went in there and bought exactly the same shopping as a I always did... citizen
  17. OK, so in the place vacated by Woolwich, we should open an actual branch of the Quiet Room. citizen
  18. Its where you swim and hang out in summer, Jah - as in Brockwell Lidl citizen
  19. how about.. they were hounded out for their sins
  20. They roared down our street
  21. *perhaps he'd do better in a smoking jacket*
  22. Dear Mockney, never, i repeat never, put a turntable on a surface. It should be (a-hem) on a wall-mounted shelf. Leave that surface for photos, nic-nacs and stuff. citizen
  23. Thank you Brendan - long may you keep up the honourable mores of your sort-of profession. citizen
  24. *rummages in bag* *passes round ear plugs for all* *passes round eye masks for all* *settles back and chills-out, aoooooommm...*
  25. Mrs C was visiting a friend on Choumert Road earlier this evening - she confirmed tooled-up rozzers still there in red police van (but they were kind enough to pull over to let her and another driver through...) citizen
