    seacow

The Sea Cow were at the Dulwich Fair in Dulwich Park a couple of weekends ago - by all accounts their mobile unit had not got their act together either - sloppy, rather than mushy, peas and no cutlery to eat it it with. citizen
  5. Good luck to the White Stuff. Can't imagine it will be a bad addition to the Lane. At present, for guys, there is the small outlet on Grove Vale that Jonboy mentions, the rack of expensive stuff in ED(that takes all of 30 seconds to run through)the two charity shops and....er...Amazing Grace up by the Library. It's not much better for gals either. So I cannot see the problem with having a dedicated clothes shop. I doubt it is the thin edge of the wedge for chains as some seem to fear. Face it, Caffe Nero has been up and running for ages now and there is no sign of another coffee house muscling in. citizen
  6. *goes to urn - thanks DM* *sips tea, dunks Rich Tea finger* *puts Satie on i-pod*

  10. Dear Jim the Chin, If you read the original post in this thread, you'll realise that I was walking down the non-shopping section of Lordship Lane and it was mid-morning on a Sunday and it was not exactly heaving with people. Once I got to Budgens and there were more people around, then it got more difficult: i agree it could be seen as weird just to be selecting some people to greet and not others. Even whe it is busy I generally try to make eye contact plus welcoming smile and then say hi if i think its a real human being walking past and not some grumpy git/nervous wreck who will simply not make eye contact with someone they don't know. You say hi to people when walking in the woods. Is this because you have some affinity with a person who is doing what you are doing. This is just an extention of the same thing. Most of East Dulwich is made up of residential streets. When you walk down one you are doing the same as the few other people you meet. Say hi next time. Can'tsee that it is anything other than completely normal behaviour. citizen really just an extention of the same thing
  11. top post PP - you are right, resistance is futile citizen
  12. I think i'll just go out and say "hello" to the Camberwell massif. citizen
  13. *stops dusting* *puts feet up and lies back to watch a true professional* *takes notes as Ana cheerfully cleans every nook and cranny* *is in awe of the fact that she's smiling as she goes*
  14. Easy Michael P, have not got round to Rich Tea taste test quite because someone had gone out and bought some Chocolate Malted Milks. Update as soon as I get through them. Hope you get some sleep. citizen
  15. It has always been a little odd that strip, but at least it does have some decent shops ie DIY place, the chemists and there are places to eat. Nero is right, the street furniture and paving needs smarting up. Good luck with the new Italian place - hope it works out. If you want a really impoverished strip - try the one opposite the Harvester. OK so we have Barcelona and a flower shop but the rest is awful. A little cafe opened up there - Coffee@501 - looked smart, nice decor, decent frontage. Looks like someone spent some money. only lasted a couple of weeks before it closed down. citizen
  16. When Ant turned up at the Gowlett...
  17. I bought a pack of sainsbos rich tea fingers to have with my after work cup of tea. Should i have gone for regular rich teas? citizen
  18. *lounges in deck-chair, knotted handkerchief on head* *drinks crushed ice drink, pink grapefruit and orange flavouridge; raises glass to Bagpuss* *ties dusters to feet, slides them up and down, lazily*
  19. Thanks for the brilliant tips Fuschia; I'll be using some of them come August. There is another farm worth visiting at Godstone in Surrey - just outside the M25 http://www.godstonefarm.co.uk/ citizen
  20. 'twas a perfect venue, and good company, great conversation and good to meet newbies. I sat there with my book (Robert Newman's "Manners") for nearly the whole time i was there, waiting for someone to swap with. Punters came, punters went, no one brought a book... unitl Bellenden Belle turned up with two. Happy reading Belle. I'll get through "Kevin" as soon as i can - which in my case will be the next time the meet gets round to the Gowlett! citizen
  21. After the little sortie into Camberwell perhaps we could have a EDF drink in all the surrounding areas. Nice places in Forest Hill, we could try the Dulwich Wood House, we could head out west and end up in the Dog. Imperialist East Dulwich. citizen
  22. *opens eyes - squints a little* *holds out glass to Michael - huge splosh of Sancerre for me please* *notices dusty floor - wipes a finger over the bar - yuk* *gets out dustpan and brush* *anyone for a spring clean?*
  23. popped down there on thursday last week - not only bought some lovely kiddies bopks but noticed that they have a outdoor chess board and a swanky new outdoor backgammon board (doubles up as a brilliant piece of playground equipment for toddlers!) dust off your chess sets and backgammon pieces and get down there. citizen
  24. *turn the lights down lower on your way out, if you will, dear Tillie*
  25. *slurps remainder of Pimms (those quart measures are devil)* *searches suave looking brown bag for chocolate delights* *disappointedly, cracks open can of special brew* *roll on Monday morning*
