  1. Great thread idea - can't help you out with yours from personal experience but I might guess about ?50. Friend of mine just had her passenger side window smashed. To fix that she was quoted ?250
  2. I can understand economic migrants from poorer countries working in a wealthier country and sending money home to help their family build a better life but people from wealthy countries going anywhere else just doesn't add up in my book, except, perhaps, when they are young free and single as Brendan mentioned. Might be great to be the pioneer and conquer far-flung lands, but when your family comes along, how about staying at home. I mean, there are only so many temples you can see in one lifetime. As Blake said, you can see the universe in a blade of grass. And, sorry, I think it basically unfair to deny grandparents and other relatives simply to satisfy your own internal wanderlust.
  3. Oh, the Duke is where the old Page 2 was, on Nunhead Lane.
  4. The Duke is a great choice. Thanks Mr Georgia ;-)
  5. The police stitch up had been a con-trick
  6. Sorry to be a sentimentalist, but I'd not want to be a few thousand miles away from my dear old mum. She'd have virtually no contact with her darling little grandkids. Is that not an issue for anyone re-locating abroad?
  7. There is a better way. Get a directorship of a major company. Work a few mornings a week. Wear an expensoive suit, shout at a few underlings, re-structure the company so that you have made your mark. Leave the post early and pocket your six-figure bonus. Sorted.
  8. I like it - a notable landmark at the entrance to the area.
  9. A terrific evening. The Gowlett is such a perfect venue and obviously such a draw for newbies! Last year Jah Lush and Bellenden Belle, this year Ms B, Benjaminty, Horsebox, Indiepanda, Fiskeroo and assorted other lurkers and partners (hi Mr Moos an Mr Buggie) so apologies to those I did not meet, or haven't mentioned.
  10. bumpety bump. 3rd anyone? or are we doing this on the 10th. Where's bl**dy Azul when he's needed!
  11. Just a little prompter for tonight. Chikinki - Drink hope the link works, never done an imeem before.

  15. and the water was filthy no doubt. When the hoodies hung out at the store...
  16. Oh but keeping on topic I feel that the guy who got the beating was lucky that the gang attacked him at the entrance to JS, with lots of people around and the sainsbos staff, and security to jump in. Just imagine if they had waited for him somewhere less populated. Perhaps they just wanted to put the frighteners on him.
  17. I agree with MP, I don't see why parents get the benefit of extra close parking. All you really need is the wider bays. I am a dad of two little ones who usually parks on the far side of the car park as there is more space and you keep away from the jerks poaching for a closer space. Pop the little ones in a trolley and wheel it over to the store. There is a zebra crossing so its pretty safe.
  18. Or baby on the front and babe on the back! Monhood proven. Surely, papoose man = one who cant afford a Bugaboo
  19. Happy unbirthday to you then, Moos.
  20. A brief mention of The The in Alex James' autobiography about his time in Blur made me recall how much, for a while I adored them.
  21. Jah, it's called Cafe 2050, I think, and its between Si Mangria and the Post Office. Oh, and it is lovely.
  22. queerly asexual is my guess, Sean.
  23. someone had a wee
  24. Just read through this thread again and heaven knows I'm miserable now. Having said that, if what Sean is insinuating is true - then i might be in there!
