I am sure I am not alone in feeling very sorry for the guy, despite the fact that he has made some bad decisions. Did he really want to be Prime Minister for all that time and then realise that when it was handed to him by people who respected him, trusted him, hated him and were scared of him, that he just wasn't up to it. Context is all. I don't mind swearing one bit. Can make you laugh or make you scared. It can make you sit up and listen. I love humour, and I get upset by hatred. If the profanities are linked to humour i embrace them - but if they are connected to hatred I don't like it.

They are up and running. Joined them up at the Canning for the off, but with two little ones in tow I was never going to get very far. At the start line was Brendan, Floating Onion, annaj, Hannah6_6 and Sean Mac. fare thee well, honourable forumites. Onwards and downwards I expect.

But does anyone remember that version of Robinson Crusoe that was screened in the mornings during the summer holidays. Boy I just loved that show and it seemed to go on and on and on, measuring out the endless summers episode by episode. Oh, and The Clangers was total TV genius.

If you want to look at it like that - yes. but I don't think it is quite the same as a private company offering a single service or product. A society is a unique entity and not like a commercial enterprise. Basically you cannot be outside of it. So we don't employ the Government in any real way. We contribute tax and parliament administers it on our behalf but to my mind that is not the same as paying for a service. -

Brendan, sorry about this, and I haven't really thought this one all the way through, but, in principle, I disagree with the notion that tax is a charge for a service. I believe that tax is your contribution to society. -
