  1. Several favourite moments have been suggested by others - for example that view from the Cafe on the Rye towards the Clock House (and the grand houses that front on to the Park has lifted my spirit many a time, and the "coming home" feeling I get whenever returning to ED: That comes on as I go over the crest of Dog Kennel Hill. And annaj I also went to a New Years party at the Clock, in fancy dress, and had a fantastic time, though it was evidently a different event than yours since I was a toff, accompanied by two gorgeous tarts. And HonaloochiB the Bus-bridge-balm is a truism is ever there was one. And also - I love walking round the streets of ED. There's many a favourite corner, building, view etc.
  2. Heard this on the radio this morning - love it. Radiohead - Creep
  3. If I remember rightly, last summer they did erect a temporary marquee in the grounds as a cheaper alternative that sold tea, coffee and cakes. work it out. They charge what they do to keep you out. They don't need you, there are plenty of people with the cash to go regularly and enough "special occasioners" to top up the attendance. They want to keep the oiks out.

    LOL Posts

Why surprised; Jesus and Mary Mag did got it on - only they never got married so never honeymooned.
  5. It is a real pi$$er when people do not take the "one step backwards" approach when posting about businesses on here. If a shoddy treatment has been experienced, be civil and ask "what are people's experiences of (shop name here)?". Look at the responses and then make a judgement as to whether your experience was the exception. I've not been in the new bike shop yet, but I'm glad it's there and wish them all the best.
  6. I don't think the OP has ownership of the thread. sure, it can be frustrating if the thread drifts away from the original topic - but that is just like a regular conversation. If enough people are interested in keeping things going with the topic then it will run. Different when a thread turns into a slanging match between two posters. That's not nice. still feel it's up to the Forum body to step in.
  7. When all the threads start getting locked...
  8. No, surely Corrie is some Elstree thing with a load of RADA toffs showing they can do regional accents.
  9. I like the place for a special coffee and cake every now and again. Proper waitress service, starched aprons and the whole gubbins. Makes a difference from virually anything else in the area. A stones throw from the Pavilion Cafe in the park - but a million miles away. What you moaning 'bout?
  10. Watch out if you nick from the store....
  11. OK, blossom?
  12. For a pint of beer and some falafel.:-S When a poster made use of a smiley...
  13. Sometimes overlook just how brilliant this is: Bjork - Venus as a boy
  14. KP obviously selected on his merit as a bowler.
  15. Sits crossed legged on the floor bags after Jah.
  16. Down, girl, down - being up there is less becoming as you ripen.
  17. If the sun does not shine
  18. Boneyard - 'tis a thread started by Azul, the waters are muddied. No change there, then.

No, but red ones are faster runners and better dancers.
  20. And a nice little number from Billy Bragg to keep you going through the night
  21. Jamma is completely right in the substance of the argument and yet has seemingly managed to lose it. Woo debating skills?

    Olympics

I don't know so much about getting rid of sports from the Olympics, I'd actually be in favour of increasing the numbers of events. Take swimming for example. Should certainly add in more strokes such as doggy paddle and side stroke. And that one where you lay on your back and float forwards, feet first. In the horse riding I'd like some breakdance dressage, just to liven it up a bit and in the cycling isn't there room for tandems in there somewhere? And for the love of PGC's Jesus, I trust they have not got rid of the walking races, now there is a sport I would queue to see. Of course I'd also include backwards walking.
  23. Please, please oh please for the love of God will you let this thread die? It's just going round and round in circles.

    this emoticon

I think it's one poor, confused, emoticon. The fingers up gesture suggests an angry dismissive state of mind, a countenance of aggrssion and arrogance but this is countered by the kinetic grin which is at the same time a snigger and, I posit, a sneer, reminiscent of the sadistic grin of Nicholson in The Shining. And then there is the colour. Whereas all fellow emoitons are in pale yellow, this sorry fellow is devil red, like a steaming, raging bull. Perhaps he has shifted all the way through the chromatic notches as he pulsed through many different stages of rage on his way to the rude symbol he proffers or perhaps he's simply a slip of the mouse during the clip-artist's colouring-in session. Either way, I wouldn't give the matter too much thought.
  25. Tony, the similarities are greater and far more important than the differences. Most of us, every race, want to feed and clothe ourselves and families, we seek happiness, friendship, community and success. If, on the very perimeter of our experience and achievement there are some differences in the speed and dancing ability of a tiny percentage of a particular race then it matters not one jot.
