  1. make a den under the table with blankets etc. put all the teddies/toddlers to sleep there. or under chairs with a blanket over it. you can make pretend meals for them bath them in the sink first. oh sounds divine - I am feeling broody.
  2. DEFINITELY NOT. They stay a same school.this is a top trick - see all those cars that drop off in dulwich village every morning.
  3. all you need are teenagers- or at least teenage boys. they hoover everything up. i think they should be let out at 9pm every night to finish off the contents of everyone elses fridges. just leave a sign out to say you have FOOD. put any bits left over in the fridge, and if they get in before you it will be finished off the next night. i only throw away vegetable peelings and tea bags.
  4. try the new sports shop at herne hill. intersport.the staff are really friendly.
  5. i always thought I would go to Mallory towers and arrive on a horse at the beginning of term. I am just about over this............
  6. i can recommend the duel control electric blanket that only warms up one side of the bed-- or if you are partner less you can keep the heating on the other side of the bed all night and it feels a bit like there is soomene there ( without the snoring)
  7. oh yes, a visit to optician and mention of having to get bi focals in the next few years and a referral to "at your age " was enough to send me screaming................

  9. hey it was in peckham - radio 4 said , so must be true!
  10. Sun - and a spot of tennis- followed by a pint of lager top -bliss ( just 6 months to go)
  11. is there enough time to go to the pottery cafe place and paint pottery specially with their names etc? is it stickky earth?
  12. I think this is the hardest thing. I still cannot get over 2 doctors leaving 2 babies and a toddler in an apartment in Spain, when there was a babysitting service and money was not a problem.
  13. if you saw someone doing this would it be a good idea to take a photo of them at work????
  14. Ian, your wife is now public property to be commented on- wait till your lovely baby arrives and all the comments you will get- ohh they are teething, have croup, are hungry- people love offering an opinion- secretly they are jealous ( really!!!)and want to be new parents again ( promise)
  15. try coating the choc. chips in flour before you put them in-and again maybe the mixture is too runny?
  16. it is normal to get some, but you could try and beef yourself up a bit. it is hard to prioritise yourself. I was always being ill but cut my work hours down to get some me time and it made a huge difference.I tried to improve my diet, took extra vitamin c at the first signs, healthier diet and tried to do some exercise also. I think i went to see a homoeopath too! It can get worse when they are at school, so try and chill a bit (LOL)
  17. might try calpol before you set off and one of you go into the back and play/ read to him/ sing story tapes too? when you think about it it is very isolating in the back not seeing your parents a bit like being put in a cupboard. good luck.
  18. i went to Australia as i had baby in our winter and the british winter is always a downer. ( expensive remedy)PND is a very lonely place to be. second baby I was already had baby at home and bought in lots of help and did make more time for myself.
  19. i think if you have a summer baby you will go out much quicker than if you had one in middle november. my first was born mid nov and i don't think i went out side until the health visitor said i had to go down the clinic for a weigh in/check up.
  20. I am sure 30 years ago something like 10% of 18 year olds went to uni/poly to get a degree. now it is a lot more- and govt target is for even more ( think of all those nurses). I do not know if it was actually the top 10% cleverest people that went, or that it is the top say 25% now that go - It is the most supported/ educated/motivated that go- and always has been. It was free for me to go 30 years ago, 95% maintenance grant -it was that, or joining the forces ( in my parents opinion). So a no-brainer for me to leave home. I do feel so privileged to have made it to poly when I did. My son hopes to go to uni next year and he is far cleverer that me academically, but does not have the same life skills I had at 18- I just hope he enjoys it and makes the most of it- I think I was probably too shy/chippy to get the best out of it- lots of middle class know-it- alls were quite scary en-masse, but it can't be like that now if so many more people go can it?
  21. Local girl Please tell us what your book is called- i like to support good local authors ( especially at Christmas)
  22. As a family we have used the library for 15 years and I would say it was critical for children. Many happy hours spend reading and looking at childrens books, now means that family are comfortable to go there and take out book/ dvd/talking book -essential for long car journey. Don't get me started of the ones upstairs hogging the papers and doing the crossword first............
  23. if the drivers of bendy buses were not locked into some sot of security cube and would open the doors when the bus was stuck in traffic between bus stops then they would be fine, but if you are stuck for 10 mins and can see brixton tube station but can't get off they are blXXdy annoying. Some of these drivers are just zombies.
