  3. Must admit, I shake the one rug I have in the house into the garden and then vacuum. Upstairs and I've shaken spiders and the odd cat hair from a blanket out of the window. How did our ancestors cope without hoovers etc.?
  4. Sounds a lovely day out and all for a good cause. Will spread the word. Rachel and her family are in today's South London Press.
  5. Just trying to say that yes, at 2.5 - 4 years, most children can recognise toileting needs and actually go a wee or poo by themselves, whether on a potty or toilet seat. Girls learn potty training a lot quicker than boys in my experience. I've thrown out a lot of rugs over the years due to keeping up with the 'pants and knickers' thing but you just have to persevere and guide your 2/3 year old to catch up with their peers, even if they're reluctant. The EYFS is a guideline in lots of areas to help prepare children for nursery/reception/Year 1 and this includes toilet training. I've worked in a reception class and spent a third of the day in the toilet (and another member of staff had to be present) due to changing children and it was very disruptive to the whole class really.

  9. Are you trying to get an ASBO on your neighbour about this? Couldn't you have a chat about it first?

  15. But wasn't it something after the Electrical Shop? A caf? I remember with people complaining on this forum about buggies, poor service, etc. Good luck to Gymboree.
  16. You don't have to be physically impaired to get a disabled badge, although it helps.
  17. Major works are taking place on a lot of Southwark Council properties at the moment/during the near future/into the year 2015/16. Unfortunately, these properties have been left to stagnate by Southwark Council over the years and now major works are now required.

  20. Hi Xeres, I've had some of my For Sale posts deleted in the past because I posted each item on it's own. I now keep everything in one post, even if the items are totally different. I just keep on a continuous thread, especially as you can only post 3 photos each post. Somebody must have complained about one (or all) of your posts for Admin to delete them.
  21. That's good news. With my PE I had no swollen legs, just the nagging thigh pain. This then developed within 42 hours to pain in my chest, trouble breathing to the point of nearly passing out and coughing up blood. My Mum was with me in A&E and, god bless her, she looked after my newborn daughter for the next week or so while I recovered in hospital. I was told by my doctor that they had lost a Mum a while before me due to the same thing. The charity, Lifeblood, did a lot to raise awareness of signs of DVTs.

Vgrant - I knew what the Op meant but didn't want to correct the spelling but it does look so much better spelt 'kerbs' as we know it! No wonder James B didn't know about it!
  23. Anya, it seems at 3 and your son has never used a potty, I would go down the pants/using a normal toilet seat route, and also getting him to pull his pants and down by himself. Most nurseries (and childminders) work according to the EYFS which states that at 16-26 months a child is clearly communicating that they have a soiled nappy. This is great but then the proper stuff comes in. At 30-50 months children can toilet themselves. Using pull-ups is confusing as I find they're just like a nappy really.
  24. I was in hospital with a terrible throbbing pain in my left thigh after having my third child (nearly 16 years ago). Was told it was probably after-pains after birth and discharged the next day. I told staff I knew what after-pains felt like but I trusted them and I also had other children to get home to. To cut a long story short, I ended up in King's A&E after experiencing chest pain and other unpleasant symptoms with a pulmonary embolism (blood clot had gone from leg to lung). Don't want to frighten you but hope you're feeling better now.
  25. I read this thread last night and then again tonight as very confusing! Were you taking the dog to the vet and the child you were meant to be looking after? Or just the dog and leaving child with Mum? Hope you get it sorted soon.
