  1. I feel exhausted just reading your posts about your 3 year old! Things I picked up on are the changes you've had, daughter changing nursery, moving house, new baby coming along. It's also a good idea to get your daughter to help out with anything connected to baby e.g. nappy changing, pushing him on the swing, etc. Then there are the times when she is "whacking her brother over the head with her teddy" and what do you do? Don't worry about upsetting her. You can explain to a 3 year old that this is wrong behaviour and at least remove the teddy! Also try not to give your daughter too many choices as it confuses them.
  2. Thanks for starting this thread. The Charter has been a great school for my children. Daughter found out this morning at 7.30 she had secured her first choice of university. Felt a bit behind with everything as had been at King's A&E with my Dad until the early hours but I'm very proud. Now begins three hard years of work but it will soon fly by. Two weeks ago went to my son's graduation from King's College, London. Just one more daughter to go through her GCSEs next year!
  3. One of my cats suddenly sat bolt upright as I was on the phone to my friend. This was just before 9pm last night. Seconds later there was a flash of lightening across the sky in the direction of the World War 1 light in London. Started to count to 10 but the loud bang had already happened by that time.
  4. Why not just contact the case officer on Southwark Council, even though somebody in Pall Mall is interested?
  5. Have you considered using a childminder? As a Southwark registered childminder we are advised not to consider a place for a child until their birth date. A mistake a lot of nurseries make when compiling their waiting lists and this in turn leads to a lot of unsatisfied customers. There are a few nurseries that open before 8am and also a few childminders.
  6. If your daughter is getting lots of infections, which usually require antibiotics, can your doctor not offer some advice, if not referrals to places? It sounds like you are disturbing your daughter's sleep pattern and this in turn can affect bed-wetting.
  7. I can see what their rules are as maybe being on your husbands shoulders your 2 year old would only see the top half of a painting. The rucksack situation is something I tell my teenage girls to be aware of everyday.
  8. I've been having same problem with an an unneutered cat terrorising my cats for the past 8 months. Finally found the owner with help of posters and hopefully will get his cat neutered. In the meantime I have to lock my cats in during the night. Two of them are home cats anyway but one likes to go out all the time but has been constantly attacked and now is scared to go out day or night. Your cat is very young. Re-homing would be more traumatic for her.
  9. Well if 'HA clearly had a much cleverer quotes intake' maybe you should go with that.
  10. Can understand your dilemma (cost-wise) but do think you are making a bigger deal of some things. You sound like you've already ruled out a childminder due to the possible buggy runs and a long list of other reasons. I'm a Registered Childminder and I've done school runs in the past and most nearly 3 year olds get a lot out of it. For instance, learning how to cross the road, spotting numbers on buses, letters on street names, going to a nursery/school environment. All basic stuff which helps prepare them for starting school in a few years time. A full-time nanny is more than able to care for a 1 year old and 3 year old in the home I'm sure.
  11. How sad.
  12. King's College Hospital have their own nursery on-site I think.
  13. etta166 - thanks for recommending Wednesday Hilltots at Herne Hill United Church. Just to let everybody know it's very popular and has a catchment area when there's a waiting list (like at the moment) so ED and Nunhead is a bit far out I'm afraid.
  14. It's good people like David are on the forum. He can say what some of us are thinking! Reading the last few sentences of newmummys post got me thinking as soon as I read it. "We don't go moaning to the council if YOUR child falls over in the park" etc.
  15. Where is that cedges? DPG? Venues have got a bit lost on this thread! Think it was mentioned on page 1 that Gymboree will be operating from the Gardens pretty soon.
  16. Convex, I would speak to your Health Visitor. They can help out with stuff a lot more than doctors who just seem to want to get their slot over and done with.
  17. Would check with the sale box in the shop at Herne Hill. If not, JJB or Sportsworld sold leotards up until a couple of years ago.
  18. That's never happened to me as I always get back to everybody. I always go by the first pm, forum reply, but often they don't get back or don't show (this has happened twice since last Thursday) and when I get back to other interested people, they've lost interest!
  19. I fill mine with fresh water 4/5 times a day as have so many birds having a bath and they drink from it, especially the magpies who like to soften their food first. Sparrows and blackbirds love it. Luckily my cats are not too bothered with catching birds as they're in most of the day, lazing around. Night-time is a different story and I've had a mouse put down at my feet just the other night!
  20. Ukdeal, Sept 2016 is a long way off but which pre-prep school are you talking about?
  21. Been to the Dulwich Tandoori today with family. As always, the food and service was excellent and they've recently introduced some new dishes for the Sunday buffet. The cauliflower cheese was very tasty.
  22. Once they turn 3 it's ?4.10 per hour whether at a nursery or childminder.
  23. Missyelliott is the Herne Hill gym closing then?
  24. treehuggers, I can't believe the responses to your post. How unhelpful. Sounds like the staff need to be more welcoming to all ages.
