The first aid training for Southwark childminders is compulsory and has to be completed over two Saturdays (12 hours) every 3 years. It's very thorough and covers everything for babies/children/adults. I've got mine coming up this Sat and next.

Hi civilservant, would agree with the report you've highlighted, but just confused about the links with breast/formula feeding? I was determined to breastfeed my three children but due to reasons beyond my control (early birth with my first, mastitis with my second and pulmonary embollism with my third) it just wasn't to be. Needless to say, they have always loved school, done very well, never suffered any allergies, excema etc. and it's a shame that there is still this negative feeling around formula feeding.

The buildings have been there since the 1950s (my husband's uncle went there, as did myself and sisters and husband and his brothers, and my children and my nieces/nephews) and would agree that Bessemer did have a new Children's Centre built a couple of years ago but until then it was left on its own really. I would agree with all your points and especially about a head teacher having the impact on a school. By the way Bessemer is spelt with two S's and one M.

Wondered why the old pavillion was closed!

Was there last Friday and only saw the sheep but spoke to a park ranger and she told me they would have more by next spring/summer. The big building stuck in the middle of what was the animal enclosure seems out of place to me.

There's no harm in taking some formula feed into hospital if that's what you want to do. I'm not sure if hospitals still provide cartons of formula milk as back-up like they did when I had my children so it's worth checking first. It all depends on the help and advice you get after the birth and I think a lot has changed since I had my kids (first one 20 years ago) so I wouldn't worry.

This doesn't sound right. Scared to use the toilets at school - why? I think you need to have a chat with your child's teacher.

State school nurseries accept children from the term after they turn 3. So if your child is 3 before the Sept intake then they will start then. Why don't you phone Goose Green's school office and they can tell you for sure.

Oh dear, I hope your cleaner doesn't read the EDF, unless you've already been this frank with her. Couldn't you offer her more hours, especially as she's spending probably nearly half an hour ironing? Couldn't you go out for the morning and leave her to get on with it? I used to clean houses/flats and it was very awkward if employer and family were still around.

The paper vouchers I've received from parents (from various companies) usually have a 12 month expiry period in which to redeem them, but not sure about from your side of things - probably the same.
