  1. There will be a table sale on the 9th March at St Barnabas Parish Hall - stalls selling secondhand baby stuff will be there.
  2. Big ad in the SLP today to have your say on the JKPS proposals.
  3. Looks like the Cherry Tree had another inspection just before Christmas. Sounds like they are doing a good job to me.
  4. Southwark Council are selling off their stock left right and centre. Over the last few years they've spent 30 million pounds refurbishing the Dog Kennel Hill Estate and they've probably made a tidy sum from the sale of Badminton House/Bromar Road. To refurbish their properties and then sell them off means they can't have a social housing waiting list? Is this waiting list down to 0 then? Of course the 5 four bed houses planned for Bromar Road won't be for social housing.
  5. Bouncy - I would go for a second child. My biological clock started ticking away as soon as I had my first, then second, then third. When my third was around 18 months old, I got the biological urge again and could have had a fourth child. Even after lots of sleepless nights etc. I only put it out of my mind due to medical reasons as I'd had a pulmonary embollism (blood clot on the lung) with my third. I can't say how close they will be when they're a lot older, but at the moment they get on fine.
  6. I've always given 50p or sometimes a quid.
  7. Exactly - but it seems like James has been supporting this new school all along anyway. He prefers Point E (Rotherhithe) to be dropped but Point D (ED) be 100% Do the people of Rotherhithe know anything about this new school that is meant to be opening soon? Looks like they've already appointed a new headteacher two days before Christmas. She is taking up her post this April so it looks like the school is up and running anyway whether we like it or not.
  8. Or in your local park?
  9. Schools shouldn't have got rid of the School Nurse (think it must have been early 70s). They kept nits at bay and I can't remember myself or sisters having nits, even though we had long hair!
  10. Hi A Fowler - I thought that was the time the Albrighton started? 10am? If you get there for 9.55 you have the place all to yourself for around 10 minutes!
  11. Jeremy - a very nonchalant response.
  12. Midivy - 10-12 month olds seem to catch so many coughs/colds/infections and this then interrupts their night-time sleep anyway, but have you tried giving water instead of bottles of milk during the night? You might find he gets bored of waking up to water and settles sooner?
  13. I'm guessing your 10 month old probably has a morning nap from 9am-10am and then another after lunch (when he's at home)? He's still very young to get through the morning without a nap (IMO) and I'm surprised that a nursery wouldn't pick up on this especially if they have a dark room with cots. Maybe they don't have enough staff to cover the dark room so he is just put down according to the older children. I would definitely follow this up.
  14. No I don't think joggers are a major threat to my safety, only if they send me flying in the mud, which some of them nearly do. Was just bringing up an observation for people who use the woods. Now where's that couch? If only I had the time!
  15. 0017bond I totally believe your story. As said before we've been regulars in the woods for years (was there today actually) and if the women had at least apologised it would have hopefully been a better outcome for everybody. This time of year the woods are obviously muddy, especially on the main walkways where it covers your feet in places. Walking in other remote parts is a lot easier (but some parts, like the moat, are now fenced off) so it's not so interesting, as it was years ago. Anyway, you can never tell if the little dog running towards you is going to be ok, let alone the big one! Another person to be aware of in the woods is the jogger! They appear from nowhere and then expect you to move out of the way with no word of a thanks.

  17. How about malt extract? A bit sweeter on the taste buds but still contains cod liver oil. I used to love this as a child and remember my Mum buying jars and sisters and me would dig in with our spoons!
  18. Hope all the Santa's grottos went well! Just to say I've supported the Santa's grotto at Dulwich Park as my 16 year daughter was actually one of the elves, along with some of her friends from the local 6th form college. This is part of their community service contribution for their exams. They've worked voluntarily for the past 4 Sundays from 10am-4pm and Whippersnappers kindly agreed for them to do this. Other students volunteered in charity shops, etc. Daughter had a very busy time with the children, reindeer, decorating a gingerbread man, waiting to see santa claus but her and friends know how to keep young children amused.
  19. St John's Church on Eden Park Avenue, Beckenham. They have a hall where there's lot going on over the week. They might be able to fit you in.

  21. Just noticed that the original post is dated December last year.

  24. Have you had a word with the nursery if this has been happening since your daughter started there? It could just be the different environment during the day etc. not just illness. Does she have a regular naptime there? If she doesn't this could lead to disturbed sleep at night but 13 months is the classic age for waking up during the night!
  25. Glad your daughter had a good time!
