No Yes (no Europa League this week ;) No I think it will be quite sterile tonight with unnecessary good manners - I am expecting all 3 to come across as nice but dim. The heated exchanges and desperate statements will have to wait for the final encounter in 2 weeks time.
-
Actually I think it will be United who will feel the heat next season as I think City will really kick on. They've already got some outstanding players and expect that to be beefed up considerably during summer with world class signings.
-
I think squatters should be made to pay their way, foot the bills for their activities or if they really are broke put them out to work on behalf of the country. Maybe they could even do a full half day of work with members of the Royal family. Free loaders the lot of them - no more excuses.

I don't believe that bollox. You do not have your morale crushed by seeing the opposition still on their feet. My favourite memory of WHL is getting back to Liverpool Street within 30 minutes of final whistle. Hate the place.
-
Well if they'd applied for their UEFA licence they'd be in Europa League next season now they've reached Final. I suspect UEFA will only act if Pompey actually win Cup as it would be a betrayal of Football to deny them entry (assuming they wish to participate in Europe next season).

Bad day for Liverpool - not sure we created a single chance of note.

Bleeding hell, Ross County... Sorry Mick but Celtic have just failed their Premiership entry exam!

As for Liverpool beating Benfica to reach the semi final - yes I was pleased to progress but tbh I thought it was an average performance. Although I was delighted to see Lucas once again show he has the ability to be a box to box player. I think if Babel ever gets a run in the team on the right wing we'll also see the best he can offer. Again it's not rocket science. Similarly Aquilani is not a holding midfielder and until he is allowed to play as an attacking midfielder for a sustained run we'll not see best of him either. Manager of the year for me would be Arsene Wenger. No money, young squad, more injuries than anyone else, and they're on the brink of picking up the PL title. Amazing.

This one is a slow burner but well worth watching it for the full 5 minutes of Fergie cracking up - he seems to lose it over some bus trip a bunch of hacks were making back from Rome back in May.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1264836/VIDEO-Watch-Sir-Alex-Fergusons-rant-Manchester-Uniteds-defeat-Bayern-Munich.html?ITO=1490 Q: Should the quality of performance [v Bayern] galvanise the players? SAF: Well, we have to remind them of that because it still hasn?t come across in the press. It is hard to understand the press. You know, someone told me that the press came back from the Rome Champions League final last season and they were all delighted on the press bus that we had lost (to Barcelona). They were absolutely pleased that we had lost. The English press. Q: You don?t know that. You weren't on that bus. SAF: Well, somebody who was on the bus told me that. Q: Alex, there are United supporters in this room, you know that. SAF: Well, it is disappointing that a British team is in the final and even one member of the press... Q: But you don?t know that. SAF: No, listen. The issue is, a member of the bus told me that and he said he was absolutely disgusted by the British press in that final and that?s a fact. He has no reason to lie to me. And you were on the bus, You will know that. But what has been lost from the game on Wednesday is our performance. Our performance was fantastic. At 3-0, it could have been 5-0. We were magnificent and that gets lost just because you want to write a headline about what I say about the Germans. That is disgusting. Q: We have given the team praise. SAF: It?s disgusting. The players deserve some praise from you lot. That performance was outstanding.

Pepe Reina signs a new 6 year contract for Liverpool - yes!

I laughed when I saw Rooney's effort but when I saw the rest he is by comparison a boy genius.

If the non Big 4 managers were given enough air time I'm sure that we'd find likes of Moyes, Redknapp & Big Sam moan as much after other games they lose as they do when they are nailed by the Big 4.

Narnia - its not me who is fishing.. I've made my point and it is dismissed by yourself on nothing more than the belief that Ferguson is beyond reproach. Rather than saying i'm blind and deaf i suggest you watch the video url i posted then make your judgement.

Narnia Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > > Are you saying it's not typical of the Germans then Matthew? Why is it typical? On what basis do you agree with Ferguson. It infers that all Germans are conmen and that the British Isles is one of fair play.

Narnia Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > > Blind and deaf as ever Matthew. No I had my ears open - he actually said, "typical Germans, you can't dispute that they're like that". FA might have let him off the hook with those remarks if it was a domestic match - but I think he'll now be charged by UEFA. No need for that xenophobic nonsense especially on national TV. 'typical Germans' ... more like Ferguson gracious as ever in defeat I think United hit such an early pace that they run of steam even before half time. I wouldn't say it was a doddle for Bayern but they had total charge of midfield during that second half and just pushed United further and further back and over the two legs were IMO the better team.
-
Well I am not sure what that says about United then as Bayern deserved their win last week. For the record all 3 goals were lucky - but then United can count themselves lucky Bayern were more than a bit sloppy with the goalscoring chances they had which perhaps would have made the scoreline more emphatic.
-
Yes very surprised by the pass to a player who was tightly marked - and the pass itself was very poor. It seemed Arsenal were still patting themselves on the back when Messi completed his hat-trick. Looking forward to the big game tonight. This really could be a classic. I think Bayern hold the upper hand (even with a fit Rooney) after that late winner last week. Bayern pretty much destroyed the United midfield in Munich and without Rooney tonight I simply cannot see how it is anything but a Bayern Munich win.

When Barcelona put their foot on the gas Arsenal had no answer - and as such they treated the 2nd half like a warm down session. Inter Milan will play a lot deeper than Arsenal so maybe the semi final will be more competitive just like Barca v Chelsea last season.
-
Ferguson comes across as quite genuine in that interview (by his standards). The Dixie Dean interview was a bit sad - someone who scored a record 60 league goals in a single season yet once retired had to pay the bills by becoming a postman. He was only spoken to once in his entire playing career by a Referee when asked if would 'like a peppermint' :)
-
Bluerevolution you still owe me ?20 from that bet - so you're in no position to call the kettle black ;-)

Watching that West Ham goal again on MOTD I hadn't realised how far he'd run from his own half before delivering that cross for the striker to make it 2-2. Perhaps a goal of the season contender. Kuyt certainly has the right attitude but as a footballer he has done very well to make a career at the top level.
-
Ngog has fantastic movement but physically he is too weak to lead the line by himself. IMO his development would be greatly enhanced by playing alongside Torres rather than always as his replacement (he ain't going to learn much from the less than nimble footed Kuyt!). It may also benefit Torres having someone else up top to drag the opposition around to create space.
