  1. Bit surprised with that as he made quite a big deal at Liverpool of when he only had 18 months left on his contract.
  2. On Newsnight the two things that rang the alarm bells was Abbott wanted to drop our nuclear deterrant and increase taxes rather than making spending cuts. Abbott claimed she was a good communicator before bumbling her next few lines. Overall I thought she lacked depth and there was a touch of arrogance with some of her simpleton answers in regard who'd be in her shadow cabinet and team. When the interview finished she held a stupid smirk on the widescreen shot whilst Paxman moved onto the next story which struck me as her being totally out of her depth after Paxman's gentle questioning had in effect made her look a token candidate.
  3. Think it'll be a tough match for England v USA - probably a draw. The Americans are no mugs when it comes to Football - they are the only team to beat WC favourites Spain in the last 4 years and that was 12 months ago in South Africa during Confederations Cup
  4. Saw her on Newsnight last night. If she is the kind of talent they have in the Labour party then they're going to be out of power for many, many years to come.
  5. What is it about the PL... Jaun Ramos was another one who landed on his feet, thrown out of Spurs and then get's the Real Madrid job! Houllier kicked out of Anfield then picks up an easy ride with the triple defending Champions Lyon! Raneri booted out by Chelsea then taking over double Champions Valencia. By all this sound logic I guess that makes Phil Brown favourite to be new Liverpool boss!! On another note I do think Rafa will have learnt a great deal from his time in England. Taking over the double Champions sounds like a breeze but it is ageing team that will need to be reinforced. However I believe Rafa's philosophy of how to play winning football is perfectly suited for Italy.
  6. Yup England no chance of winning WC... but I was talking about Spain getting past QF? ;-)
  7. Dutch are likely to face Spain in QF (or maybe Brazil if Brazilians not won their group)... I'd say tight call
  8. Well, there is a reasonable chance Brazil will not top their group (they're in with Portugal and Ivory Coast) which would mean a Spain v Brazil clash in first knockout round with the winner then facing the Netherlands in the QF.. so what chance do you reckon then SCSB79?
  9. I guess it's the same if I watch Wimbledon
  10. President of the FA Prince William interviewing England team - clearly knows nothing about the national game http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/8724324.stm
  11. Well hopefully England make it through the group as it always makes it a better World Cup to see Terry, Rooney and Gerrard trudging off the pitch in tears after another penalty shoot out fiasco ;-)
  12. I thought we would hear from Sven during the World Cup... and this is how Sven has reacted to news that his Ivory Coast skipper and talisman Drogba has broken his arm and might miss World Cup... Eriksson said: "I have been a Liverpool fan all of my life. I never mentioned it when I was in charge of England because I didn't think it was fair. I was shocked when I discovered Rafa Benitez had left. Would I want to be the manager of Liverpool? It is every manager's dream to manage Liverpool. My father was also a Liverpool supporter and every Saturday we would watch an English match on television. It was the highlight of the week ... They have always been my team and nothing has changed ... Liverpool will always hold a special place in my heart."
  13. I think with Martin O'Neill there is a perception over his brand of football which for many Reds they'd associate with the darker days of Gerard Houllier. Hodgson is a definate no-no in my book. Too soft and has already failed at Inter Milan. Yes a new Manager is always a risk - but if you don't buy a ticket...
  14. It's like taking your hat off when a you pass a funeral procession - know one notices you behaviour but it is called respect
  15. matthew123

    Rant!!

You can tell a lot about people who behave in that manner - best keep a wide berth
  16. Hohoho Mick - I was a tenant, and at 122 Kg probably only a little skinnier than you are now ;-)
  17. Yup I'd even sacrifice Gerrard to make that happen (but not Torres!)
  18. You think that's bad, well I used to live in a house share and when some bitches were kicked out by the landlord the mean little cows took half the house light bulbs with them.
  19. I suspect your colleagues would be saddened if they found out you'd now rejected their gift. For your action to be morally acceptable imo you should seek prior approval from your colleagues.
  20. Probably find the Club was worth significantly more to a prospective buyer than an extra ?10m (or ?50m for that matter) if Wenger was Manager - would be money well spent! Of course Wenger isn't going to give up the limpness of the Emirates for a crack at the Kop is he...
  21. Hmmm interesting choice Martin O'Neil.. He will certainly be one of the main contenders (should he wish pastures new).
  22. England are trying to win the WC it's not meant to be a beauty contest
  23. Mancs up and down the country will be slitting their wrists tonight - anyone seen Sandperson!?! ;-) With no real money on the table, and Rafa indicating he cannot work with current squad, I think after 6 years there can be no complaints if Liverpool want to let someone else have a crack and get what is a strong squad to reach their potential at least in trying to play football the Liverpool Way. The results last season were misleading, and a one off, but the style of football was not (which has in general gone downhill over last 3 years). I am optmistic about next season if there is a new Manager... assuming it's not someone like Gareth Southgate ::o
  24. Doesn't look like he'll get the chance - all over the papers that Club have asked him to leave
  25. Looks like Fabregas is on his way to Barcelona - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/8717785.stm "An informal conversation with Arsenal became formal on 1 June and now an official approach has been made to the club," said a Barca spokesman.
