  1. What a block tackle by Upson in stoppage time!
  2. Cry baby Wayne Rooney might think he has it tough but following North Korea losing 7-0 to Portugal their ex-North Korea coach (now defected), said: - poor play overseas has meant punishment at home, including being "purged" and sent to coal mines. http://www.channel3000.com/sports/23981088/detail.html
  3. Be able to watch it in the office on various screens... but going to sneak out to the pub with a bit of atmosphere to watch it, then might nip back at HT to send a pre-prepared email then dash back out for 2nd half... ;-)
  4. If Spain beat Chile on Friday night they will finish ahead of Chile regardless of scoreline. Spain will top the group unless the Swiss can win by a bigger margin than the Spanish come Friday night. If both the Swiss and Spain win 1-0 on Friday night, that would leave Chile and Switzerland in joint second place with the same goal difference of +1. I believe that Chile would progress in second place due to their head to head meeting with Switzerland which they won.
  5. Capello gets all hypocritical, telling Italian TV - "I don't understand why he didn't speak with me, I read yesterday that John Terry said this. I don't understand why he didn't speak with me. When you speak you have to speak privately and not with you (the media)." http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/22062010/58/world-cup-2010-terry-admits-far.html
  6. Bloody hell didn't someone else post that few days ago on this same thread (think it was quids) :-S
  7. Top 5 1. Jimmy Armfield 2. Andy Gray 3. Souness 4. Gullit 5. Southgate Bottom 5 5. Matt Le Tissier 4. Jamie Redknapp 3. Alan Shearer 2. Gary Pallister 1. Mick McCarthy
  8. French farse... as Evra confronts the traitor who dobbed in Anelka.. then marches his team mates back onto the team bus to boycott training... followed by Domenech then having to read out players statement in support of the player who'd foul mouthed him.. and finally the Team Director leaving the French media to wander off into the African hills
  9. I've no idea what Adebayor is saying, I can pick up his French accent but really why was TV licience money spent on this guy? He also sits there slumped in his chair as if he is day dreaming about his next goal celebration whilst Jurgen Klinnsmann speaks better English than Alan Hanson. Have to say it is quite refreshing watching the panel on ITV with the more natural humour of Adrian Chiles and Gareth Southgate over the wooden planks that are Linkear and Hanson on the BBC. As for Shearer... he lost all credibility when he interviewed Rooney and his opening gambit was 'Wayne you are the best player in the world' (or words to that effect)... which Rooney greeted with the usual humbleness associated with a Manchester United player of just smiling rather than correcting Shearer with the mention of Messi or Ronaldo..
  10. From Independent why Anelka has been sent home from SA : - L'Equipe sports daily claimed the Chelsea forward told Domenech to "go screw yourself, dirty son of a whore" in the dressing room at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane after the coach criticised his first-half performance in Thursday's match.
  11. I feared another draw for England but never thought with such a cowardly performance. Algeria are a team who lost to Gambia for crikes sake in the qualifiers! England seem to to be loaded with a few egos whose heads are stuck up their arses, namely Gerrard and Rooney, where everything has to go through them at the expense of expansive team play. It's up to individual fans whether they want to boo the players, maybe it'll help them pull their fingers out as Capello's team talks seem to have failed. If booing upsets some players then maybe these lambs (certainly not lions) do not have the bottle when the heat is really on to actually win this World Cup? Personally, I'd not be booing the England players off the pitch like that as instead I'd been too busy throwing custard pies at those clowns!
  12. Everton are said to be interested in signing Ashley Young, Robbie Keane and Darren Bent. to coinside with the launch of the new pink shirt. A spokesman said they are exactly the type of players we are looking for. Young, Keane and Bent
  13. Reds start with a home fixture to Arsenal, then it's an away fixture at Man City to follow... so nice easy start! Game 5 is a visit to Old Trafford, which I think it after CL group match 1 (and let me get in the excuses early that'll no doubt be 3 days after a far flung trip to Asia for Liverpool in Europa League on the Thursday night... thanks Rafa ;)
  14. Forget the World Cup the Premiership fixtures for next season are announced this morning, 9 a.m. I am hoping Liverpool start the season at Anfield for the first time since 2003 ...
  15. Not going to be able to make it but I suggest you choose somewhere with a TV as it's Spain v Chile that night (i.e. 7.30 til 9.30) ... no heard of Victoria so maybe you are okay
  16. Hey don't forget Titty Cheatingham
  17. ITV get their act together and have terminated Robbie Earle's contract with immediate effect Apparently his WC tickets for friends & family found their way into the hands of a third party
  18. Just saw this on BBC site and I am stunned - New Zealand 1 v Slovakia 1! (full time score)
  19. I've not got a problem with Carragher wanting to play for his country but I just don't think he can be left exposed at the back with his chronic lack of mobility. The only way England are going to win World Cup is by playing very defensively, having everyone behind ball and using pace and break out skills of Rooney and Lennon.
  20. DJKillaQueen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yeah Carragher, definitely off the pace and I > question the commitment of any player that > previously didn't want to play for England. > Scholes has never changed his mind for example. Scholes: - "If they'd asked me earlier, I probably would have accepted." - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/8726935.stm
  21. I cancelled my Sky last month as it was too expensive with nothing to watch, although they took that as 31 days notice. The full works (HD, Movies, Sports, ESPN) was costing me ?67 p/m! Yesterday I was feeling pretty pleased how after 2 days of not having Sky I was about to save ?130 over the next 2 months before I had it re-activated for start of the new Premiership campaign from mid August. So there I was browsing the web when the phone rang... ring ring ring... unknown number. So picked it up as you have to when you refuse to pay an extra ?2 p/m with Southern Electric just to view caller number. Anyway, I digress slightly, back to the story. The caller was from Sky and so I took the verbal position of 'ok what do you want?' ... but before I could wrap up the call the caller said Sky want to offer me Sky at half price for next 12 months.. So I hesitated. The next thing I know I've agreed for what I had previously paid ?67 p/m to now paying ?34 p/m (exc EPSN). They also offered me the 1 Terabyte HD box for ?149 so took that as well (I'll use old box for free HD as have another satellite connection in different room). Anyway I'd had Sky for 3+ years... so if anyone in similar boat you may wish to consider this way to cut your bill dramatically.. although no guarentees of course. (Btw had to pay ?15 to have Sky re-activated). You'd probably be offered some kind of discount if you merely threaten to cancel but not sure how much. Anway that is my tip of the day following my success of tipping England to have drawn their first WC game :-S
  22. Green cannot play again in this WC - it was only the goalpost that saved his chocolate hands from gifting America a second goal. David James is no better - time to hand the gloves to Joe Hart.
  23. Henry to miss World Cup after drug shame http://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Henry.jpg
  24. Today I did a WC forecast at work from who'd finish 1st and 2nd in each group to the Final... and I was surprised to see I'd predicted a Spain v England World Cup Final. So that is my first tip Second tip, is England v USA to be a draw on Saturday Finally, I am predicting top scorer to be Frank Lampard
  25. It's not really about whether you believe in her policies or not it's a case of they are political suicide
