  1. Having eaten a Burger King meal last night travelling through the wastelands of Manchester (they classify it as a 1 star Michelin restuarant up Norf) thank fook we don't have one in East Dulwich... morale of the story is don't have a takeaway, wait til you get home and make yourself a sandwich!
  2. Looking carefully at the Gherkin it appears to have a pair of angry red eyes and thus letting off a lot of steam! >:D
  3. I think the real question is whether you could live in the wild, build your own shelter, hunt down your dinner.. and the answer is yes, humans were born to survive... so living in the country would be a doddle for most people although no doubt for the weak it would be razor blade time without a mobile phone reception..
  4. Perhaps in their own little worlds the fox, cat and mice also consider such observations on life ;-)
  5. Of all the places to start a brawl he had to do it outside the Daily Mail offices for them to capture it all on CCTV... I suppose he was just a quiet Jack the lad before he was called up to England squad and mixed with likes of Gerrard, Cashley, Frank, Rooney & JT ;-)
  6. I think the pitch is now a lot better since they've added synthetic fibres into the grass. I am sure the England players said it was much improved when they played on it a few weeks ago. Spat out my cornflakes reading this from Rafa Benitez, "At the end it was too open. The tactics are not quite there, we've got to work harder. I will have to change things after Mourinho. How much time will it take? I don't know."
  7. Liverpool have Steau, Napoli and Utrecht in their group. So could have been worse travel wise for the team.
  8. Great thing about Rangers being in same group as United, is they can go an give Manchester another face lift ;-)
  9. I vaguely remember being in Kebab & Wine at 4 a.m. one Thursday night many moons ago.. After listening to this pantomime of evasion maybe it is not such a surprise after all that no one in football has had a good word to say about Rafa Benitex since his sacking from Liverpool - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/8947916.stm
  10. Sorry Mick but it's now 4-0 Good result for Liverpool tonight coming through with a 2-1 win in Turkey, and it was great to see the sheer delight in Roy Hogdson each time we scored. Top man!
  11. Rafa Benitez on why he could not possibly be trying to tap up Dirk Kuyt : "I am the coach and I cannot sign players ? that is for the technical director and the chairman," he said. "I am fine like this ? I can focus on my work on the pitch and that is all. I am the coach, not the manager."
  12. Overall it was a poor performance from Liverpool last night although they did show flashes of learning of how to play football again. I guess players need a little time to adjust to a new mentality as they too readily drifted into passive mode.
  13. Money does talk and what knocked United off their perch was a lack of it compared with Abramovich. If it had not been for the Russian they they would have captured Michael Essien to replace Keane. Plus a whole host of other players such as Michael Ballack, John Obi Mikel and Arjen Robben who they were also favourites to sign until Chelsea showed the Roubles.
  14. Heh heh - I enjoyed the game but at the same time no wonder people thought Howard Webb had a good World Cup final if the Refereeing today is deemed acceptable! It was an end to end game and was quite surprised by the number of times Fulham opened up United. Maybe not as many times United opened up Fulham there but worryingly, for United fans, there did not seem to be much resistance in the United midfield. But the real puzzler is why were the United fans singing the Torres song :-S We shall see what happens in Manchester tomorrow night - could go either way, but probably a 1-1 draw. Hope I am not tempting fate here but the last time Liverpool played their second match of the season away at City they lost 2-1 missing a last minute penalty which I believe had a certain Niall Quinn as goalkeeper.
  15. Great game that, how football should be played. Scholes goal was magnificent, but that Ref must have Man U tattoo'd on his a$re. The same coont that sent off Joe Cole last week. Blatant pen denied when Fulham player hauled to the ground then the Ref trumped that by giving a pen to United. I can find no excuse for that Pen whatsover.
  16. Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Apparently Shay Given has chosen Celtic You mean City gave Shay Given a choice of Clubs and from that he has chosen Celtic
  17. I think the plastic pitches are a lot improved from the bad old days of QPR and Luton. Bottom line is Young Boys played with a verve that was refreshing and that caught Spurs cold.
  18. Very exciting game, but Spurs lucky to escape with a 3-2 defeat - although I do think they'll wipe the floor with the Swiss next week at WHL.
  19. Good luck to Spurs, they played well Saturday and would imagine they'll not have any problems against the Swiss. Might be a 2 horse race on the final weekend - but with much stronger Spurs and City joining the usual mix I believe it will a very open season at the top end of the table. You cannot compare the league today with 10 years ago.
  20. Quite impressed with Scholes last night - even if he should have been sent off. Overall from the games I've seen this weekend it's been good stuff. Houllier, Evans and Benitez all did well in their first few years but the real problem was not cutting them loose once it became crystal clear they were taking the Club backwards. We lost a minimum 3 years keeping those guys on far too long (Rafa 6 months, Houllier 1 year, Evans 18 months).
  21. My tip is Chelsea. They've been the strongest team for the last 5 or 6 years and would probably have chalked up the title each year if not for their high casualty rate to key players (which always seem to involves likes of Terry, Cech, Essien and Drogba having long term injuries). I am predicting Liverpool for second, City third and then another dogfight for 4th.
  22. I couldn't agree with you more Jah. Putting aside the arrogant media who with their back slapping think they are an elite tribe of prophets dictating the future with their half baked headlines - most Liverpool fans who I chatted with on the Kop yesterday were in agreement this is going to be a fantastic season for Liverpool.
  23. I thought Cole was trying to block the pass rather than make a challenge on the player.. just because players accidently clash heads doesn't mean they should both be sent off either for headbutting each other.. I was impressed with Liverpool - I think this is a good sign for future success

Looks like any player they are linked with they create a player profile in advance. So if you change the final id number on url you can come up with some others such as Joe Cole, Raul, Benezma, Steven Ireland..
  25. I found this great photo, think it really captures the tension and passion of football. What is your favourite and why.
