  1. I think quality at top end of PL has been going downhill since 2006, but seen some great end to end football recently on TV watching Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal. It's definitely an exciting season and I am sticking with my tip Arsenal to be Champions.
  2. Annasfield Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Game is rearranged for 12th January. For all the reasons why Chelsea v Man U has NOT been re-arranged the same night...
  3. How times have changed. Once upon a time Boxing Day meant half the Premiership would kick off at lunchtime such was the number of southern Clubs, now it is just Craven Cottage hoisting the Flag this Xmas. Not sure how so many Clubs from the North West have PL status, but there are 5 PL fixtures in old Lancashire at 3 p.m. this Boxing Day!
  4. BTW Shanks, Paisley, Fagan, Dalglish, not to mention Wenger and Mourinho, all won the Title within 2 years of being in top flight. As for Fergie he was runner-up in his first full season in England. Great managers let their greatness be read on the pitch.. whilst others have their mates in the media write it for them :)
  5. Forget about signings being good or bad, its what you do with the players you have available. There is no doubt that when puts his mind to it he can deliver for the big occasion... but he is a loose cannon who I think has engineered his sacking. I don't see Liverpool touching him with a barge poll until he has at least proven he can behave and focus on the team at another Club.. and I dare say try and sustain good football.
  6. 5-0 home win over Villa, 5-1 over local rivals Sunderland, 1-0 win at the Emirates, 1-1 against the Champions, just been promoted, half way in the table. This was nothing to do with Chris Hughton's qualities as a Manager this was all you need to know about Mike Ashley.
  7. Apparently Cameroon was the other England vote. Where is the legacy is taking a World Cup to Qatar when they are going to dismantle the stadia and take it to countries that do have a heartbeat for football? Zero culture for football, zero people to fill the grounds, anything but zero money now in the pockets of those who take bribes. Would it have been so bad to have given it to Oz? If it's all about human rights being cleaned up why don't they just pass it around the whole middle east every 4 years? I say stuff FIFA and let's get on with PL and CL football!
  8. Assuming England qualify for 2022, how is the beer bellied England football hooligan meant to quench his thirst in 100F+ heat when booze is banned!!??
  9. Qatar 2022... absolute bonkers decision! Let's hope they don't have a heatwave that summer because the average summer is about 100f !
  10. Question, are Barcelona an improved version of World Champions Spain? I think so.
  11. >:D< Looks more like thumbs up to me.. although in future will bear in mind the alternative interpretation.
  12. Brilliant performance but what must have really hurt was how they toyed with Madrid keeping ball for long spells. I think only maybe Messi could have also scored that first goal.
  13. That is great thing about visiting Anfield as you are pretty much guaranteed to see a Torres goal, and more likely at Kop end.. and there was Roy thinking it was down to his team talks ;-)
  14. I remember when Liverpool played Millwall in League Cup in 2004. The Police locked us in at final whistle for own safety! Hundreds of riot police to escort everyone safely back to London Bridge by train... eventually leaving about 20 or 30 Reds still at South Bermondsey station waiting to get first south bound train with a handful of geriatric officers. Then in distance outside station saw an angry mob of Millwall yobbos trying to break Police ranks to also catch train. Train pulled in with a panic stricken Police announcement, 'everyone must get on this train where ever they are going!!'
  15. Sucker punch but still great game.
  16. Very impressive first half from Liverpool, best football away from home for a very long time without bursting a blood vessel. Should really have another goal but either way going to be a tough second half as I'd expect Spurs to up their game.
  17. Well also take into consideration the context, for instance a simple smile smiley after a snide remark can be worst of the lot!
  18. Maybe it has been infected with the Android virus ;-)
  19. Going to watch it at home with central heating switched on >:D< I am predicting a 2-1 win to the Reds.
  20. New Year surge from United will probably depend on them making some major signings in January. I think Spurs, City, Chelsea, United and Arsenal are all in with a great shout. I'd probably just give the edge to Arsenal - on the basis that their major flaw, of home defeats, looks the easiest to rectify.
  21. I would say have it valued by a few estate agencies to compare with council valuation
  22. West Ham were poor, they looked like a team who should have their wages stopped till they put in a bit of effort.
  23. For me Liverpool, United, Chelsea and Arsenal have weaker teams than they have had for a long time. Whilst the chasers have beefed up their line-ups to close the gap that has been helped by the gradual drift of the very elite from England. I think that drift will continue particularly to Spain if Madrid and Barcelona agree to share more of the TV money with rest of La Liga. I'd expect PL to remain the most exciting but I fear the heyday of the PL has passed.
  24. The heavyweight fight was a joke contest. Audrey Harrison was way out of his depth and one connection backed up the look of a man who looked like s scared rabbit. Not really a boxing fan because of exactly those kind of contests. Having said that I ended up watching the Manny fight and that was well worth the effort!
