  1. You'd need to take that up with them, because they're claiming it was on time.

According to http://www.recenttraintimes.co.uk, the 07:09, 07:30, 07:50, 08:10, 08:30 and 09:10 arrived on time, the 08:20 arrived 6 mins late, the 08:51 1 min late and the 08.57 2 mins late.
  3. Utterly depressing. Meadow Residential really are the lowest form of pond life. They're not even interested in turning a profit - they clearly want to destroy the football club. I don't want to say "I told you so" but two years ago I made myself very unpopular with the supporters by absolutely rejecting the developers' plans and warning the club that they shouldn't get into bed with these predators. Yes, there were bills that needed paying, but in the long-term, no small football club in London and the southeast has ever benefited from a relationship with predatory property developers. Please consider donating some money, no matter how small, to the 12th Man fund ? all of which goes to pay for the football club and none of which benefits the ground's owners: https://www.paypal.me/dhfc12
  4. We were in a pub with our kids when they were little and one of them went extremely pale. My other half realised that he was going to hurl, so quickly grabbed the nearest receptacle to hand ? an empty pint glass. And the lad vomited *exactly a pint*. We almost felt like celebrating.

They have been put up by Meadow Residential (not the club), the owners of the stadium. Those fences are on their land, I believe, and the consensus is that they're there partly to inconvenience the council who have taken back control of Green Dale fields, as it will prevent them from gaining full access via that route.
  6. They tend to flock in winter, so you tend to see more of them when you see them, but you see them less :-)
  7. Billericay have been involved longer in cup competitions (eg FA Trophy) than the rest of the division, which has meant postponements to scheduled league games. They're in the crazy position of playing at least twice a week for the rest of the season (bar two weeks), including games on March 10th, 13th, 15th and 17th. Let's hope injuries and exhaustion derail them :-)
  8. And Tim Martin is very responsive to customer feedback, whatever his politics.
  9. This is the route I walk (rather than jog) ? nearly all quiet but safe and including a bit of park. Looks complicated but it'll make sense on the map :-) London Bridge Guy?s Hospital Crosby Row Pilgramage St Tabard Gardens Tabard St Law St Great Dover St Bartholomew St New Kent Rd Balfour St Stead St Orb St Nursery Row Park East St Portland St Albany Rd Burgess Park New Church Rd Edmund St / Benhill Rd Wilson Rd Grace?s Rd Grace?s Mews Lettsom St Camberwell Grove Grove Hill Rd Dog Kennel Hill...
  10. You don't think the phrase "crime disaster area waiting to happen" is rather OTT?
  11. Try the Testaccio district and just south of it for authentic Rome and some great buildings ? many of them old industrial buildings and converted to new uses: http://www.archidiap.com/opera/gazometro/ https://www.mattatoioroma.it/ http://www.centralemontemartini.org/ Testaccio is just south of the Aventine Hill, which is a quiet and leafy place to stay and handy for the Colosseum, Forum etc too.
  12. Just to confirm that Mrs BNG is good for the 8th too.
  13. Some decent boozers in Surbiton with live music, but pretty dull otherwise. Here's local musician Peter Bruntnell's bittersweet take on Surbiton and Kingston:
  14. Yeah, Sue, it's like something between a cold and flu but goes on for ages. Still got a lingering cough and splutter from whatever it was I caught about six weeks ago. Not enough to knock you out, but bloody annoying.
  15. Someone should tell the Flying Pig that they're still taking out a full-page ad in the Dulwich Hamlet programme ever home game offering a discount for supporters. Maybe it works with croissants too...
  16. There are certainly breeding blackcaps on Green Dale fields (behind Sainsburys on Dog Kennel Hill) and in Sydenham Hill Woods. Lovely song.
  17. ... But Lovebox have abandoned their plans to use Brockwell Park. http://www.brixtonbuzz.com/2018/01/field-day-2018-festival-confirmed-for-brockwell-park/
  18. Field Day festival, planned for Brockwell Park on 1st-2nd June, not only have tickets on sale but they've just said that the line-up will be announced on Monday 5th Feb, so they're clearly confident that Lambeth will ignore the objections.
  19. I asked the planning officer that and there was no intention at any point to carry out a binding consultation or have a subsidiary application.
  20. On the wider question of local infrastructure, I fear uncleglen is right. A case in point is the now thankfully shelved development at DHFC and Green Dale, where the developer proposed to build 155 dwellings where none currently exist. As someone deeply involved in the campaign to stop the development, I read through all the documentation, including comments from statutory stakeholders including the emergency services, utilities etc. One response that stood out among the mainly box-ticking that was going on was Thames Water's: "The existing water supply infrastructure has insufficient capacity to meet the additional demands for the proposed development. Thames Water therefore recommend the following condition be imposed: Development should not be commenced until: Impact studies of the existing water supply infrastructure have been submitted to, and approved in writing by, the local planning authority (in consultation with Thames Water). The studies should determine the magnitude of any new additional capacity required in the system and a suitable connection point. Reason: To ensure that the water supply infrastructure has sufficient capacity to cope with the/this additional demand." And was anything done to further investigate the impact on water supply? No, not a thing. Their response was completely ignored by the developers and the council, so if the plan had gone ahead, Thames Water would have have just had to lump it and deal with the consequences.
  21. ... for eight hours for one night won't really be a major inconvenience.

Grayling has changed his mind, so hopefully this will happen sooner rather than later: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/transport/southern-rail-to-be-hit-by-major-overhaul-of-londons-commuter-routes-after-years-of-misery-chris-a3704721.html
