  1. Well in that case, whatever that "UN definition" of a forest is, it's silly. A cursory Google doesn't give any detail.

  3. Yes, it's fundamentally OK, with a capacity of 3,000, though the club must show the possibility of increasing that in the future to 4,000. Some pitch perimeter fencing changes might be needed though. But nothing fundamental.

Next year..! Ah, thanks! I was in Mitcham yesterday biting my nails and then celebrating Dulwich Hamlet's victory, so didn't notice any local swifts :-)
  5. Just heard the first swift of the year near Dulwich Hospital. Summer is definitely on the way. Here's how the arrival compares to previous years: 2011 ? May 9 2012 ? May 1 2013 ? May 17 2014 ? May 8 2015 ? May 9 2016 ? May 4 2017 - May 6 2018 ? May 8
  6. Yeeeeeeesssssss!!!!!!!

No, they'll be back, but it might take a while.
  8. Get your tickets here for Dulwich Hamlet's play-off final v Hendon on Monday afternoon at 3pm. Only a tenner - fiver for concessions - and the weather's going to be glorious. Come and support your local team and cheer them on to promotion. https://www.seetickets.com/event/play-off-final-dulwich-hamlet-vs-hendon/tooting-mitcham-united-fc/1224961
  9. James, thank you for your hard work on behalf of the local community. I hope that the Labour clean sweep in our ward doesn't make our councillors complacent.
  10. Yes indeed. A nailbiting 1-0. Now for the play-off final at 'home' (ie Tooting & Mitcham) against Hendon at 3pm on Monday.
  11. Just a reminder that the crucial playoff semifinal is tomorrow evening at Tooting & Mitcham's ground ? just 20 mins direct to Mitcham Junction from ED station. Tickets available here: https://www.seetickets.com/event/play-off-semi-final-dulwich-hamlet-vs-leiston/tooting-mitcham-united-fc-surrey/1222724
  12. I'm up for June 7th. You might want to correct the date in the thread's title, oh Radiant Bhuna ? we wouldn't want to confuse Mick Mac again :-)

When the Grove Vale CPZ was proposed a number of years ago, it became clear even from Southwark's plans that marked out parking bays and double yellow lines would reduce the parking capacity of the zone sufficiently to create greater pressure on residents' parking even without any additional visitor parking. That was one among several reasons why I was very much against it.

Ditto the 2012 Olympics. Some people's bread and circuses are royalty, some are elite sports. I couldn't be a*sed with either but I'm not decrying others for their choices.
  15. Yes indeed. Crunch play-off semi on Thursday evening. Get tickets here: https://www.seetickets.com/event/play-off-semi-final-dulwich-hamlet-vs-leiston/tooting-mitcham-united-fc/1222724
  16. There hasn't been any planning application for building there, according to Southwark's planning site ? just a tarting up of the phone mast there.
  17. Well, moneybags Billericay Town won tonight and are champions, so Dulwich Hamlet will definitely finish second and will have home advantage in the playoff semi-final on Thursday May 3rd. But come along anyway to their temporary home at Tooting & Mitcham on Saturday v Margate to give them a rousing send off for the league season.
  18. They're probably Holly Blue butterflies, which emerge earlier ? and are more common ? than the other blue butterflies.
  19. Worth pointing out that DHFC are guaranteed to finish in their highest league position since 1959, which is brilliant given the nonsense off the pitch.
  20. A brilliant 3-0 win today at third place Folkestone Invicta guarantees that Hamlet will finish no lower than second ? which gives home advantage in the play-offs. The title is still a slim possibility but it'll be Billericay's if they win at least one of their last two games.
  21. On Twitter, Sydenham Hill Wood and the Wildlife Trust have made it quite clear: "Hi, please be aware that visitors do not have permission or rights to forage wild garlic or other plants in Sydenham Hill Wood or Dulwich Wood. This plant is an ancient woodland indicator and its populations are recovering across both sites. Please do not forage wild plants." I despair at the thoughtlessness of many urban "foragers".
  22. OK, so I was right :-)
