  1. Response to a question of mine to club chairman Liam Hickey on the club forum about the new share offering and changes in the ownership of the club. Very welcome developments. "As a Private Limited Company we are not legally allowed to advertise the sale of shares but we can answer questions about them. We would have expected those at the meeting to have brought the contents of it into the public domain by now but as they haven't then this question is the first time we can say anything. Yes there has been lots of movement as 73% of the current shares will pass into the ownership of a new holding company within the next 7 days. The club's new Directors will be the Directors of that company - namely me, Tom Cullen and Gavin Rose. We have no intention of selling that holding at any time. However, we wish to be diluted to bring in new investment and so the meeting also agreed that authorised share capital be increased to ?1.5 million. These new shares are available to purchase in blocks of 500 shares at ?1 each. We have also brought the Register of Members up to date and taken some shares that were not taken up as part of the call and those of deceased and non contactable shareholders back into Treasury. It is our I mention to hand these to the Dulwich Hamlet Supporters Trust as soon as they have tidied up one of their own rules. The rest are available for fans or investors to purchase as part of the recapitalisation of the company. Should large investors come forward then we shall look very carefully at their motives as part of our due diligence but we are already aware of people friendly to the club who may wish to invest. The new Board will shortly be formed and offer places on it to representatives of all the current stakeholder groups. Please forward any requests to purchase or questions to [email protected]."

Because that undoubtedly would > have happened. Nah. English self-loathing is almost as unattractive as 'rampant nationalism'. If we had won, we could have rightly felt proud of the team and would have celebrated accordingly. That's it.
  3. If it's in an obviously perilous spot ? in the road or on the pavement ? move it to somewhere very close that's out of danger. Otherwise, leave it alone ? mum or dad will find it :)
  4. I can be there by 9. Can I phone you my main course choice while I'm on the train from Ģatwick? :)
  5. Moving to East Dulwich was Year Zero. Before that, nothing :)

I never said it > was like New York in the 80s... With all due respect, and in reference to sillywoman's comments, one stabbing is not "stats".
  7. Any green growth this year that's overhanging the pavement is not going to have nests in it. Trim it back to allow people past, as I assume they've done in the past.
  8. Trossachs is fine for safety ? the trouble is confined to a particular spot on Glengarry Rd that the police know all about. In 23 years, I've never felt worried.
  9. Pleased to see that Google Maps now recognises that the Lordship Lane / Goose Green roundabout is now called the Dulwich Hamlet Promotion Roundabout. Some rave reviews too :-)
  10. Car club? Minicab? Both cheaper than buying a new car. Or even carshare with others.
  11. You and Thornberry both.
  12. I was watching the on the opposite side of the estuary, in Leigh-on-Sea. Regular boozer ? tats, tans and singing. Loved it ? busy but very friendly, no animosity, no xenophobia. Landlady played a selection of inspiring tunes before kick-off. When I heard "Jerusalem" followed by "Vindaloo", I knew it was fine. Emily Thornberry would have hated it.
  13. That's unusual, as other gregarious birds like sparrows are happy to come back not long after a sparrowhawk has picked one off. Over time, predators have very little influence on prey population numbers.

Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I used to get loads of starlings in my garden, and > some years back a raptor took one of them off. > I've never seen a starling in my garden since :( It's more likely that this is a reflection of the steep decrease in starling numbers in the southeast over the last twenty years or so. The cause isn't clear.
  15. There's been plenty of drug dealing going on around there for months and I've seen the police visiting the same address twice in the last few weeks. Not necessarily related to this incident, but it does set a 'tone', unfortunately.
  16. I'm AB Rh+ so they like me ? 3/4% of the population. And yes, it's become frustrating finding venues to give blood. I always used the temporary truck near London Bridge off Southwark St, which was handy for work, but all the trucks have been withdrawn I believe. Now use one of the City venues, but it's very hit and miss as to when they have slots available.
  17. And there are blackcaps breeding on Green Dale fields behind Sainsburys, as well as fellow warbler the chiffchaff.

  19. Possibly a stag beetle. They do fly, but very badly.

Hope this thread dies a quick death. Shouldn't that be 'extreme right-wing' or some such? I'm sure you're not excluding people with right-wing views* from any debate? * Disclaimer: I don't have right-wing views and never have.
  21. But the 'Best pub' awards are not run by CAMRA. Both the Blythe Hill Tavern and the Ivy House deserve their CAMRA awards as they're excellent real ale pubs. By contrast, the 'Best pub' awards are run by the "National Pub & Bar Awards", an industry organisation that includes American Budweiser among its sponsors.
  22. If they're moneybags city boys, why would they bother saving a few quid by wanting to park in ED? It's nonsense. The 'commuter' parking is nearly all local, as the council discovered when it proposed the Grove Vale CPZ.
