  1. Is Snorky back on the buroo?
  2. Unsurprisingly, we reached rather different conclusions? Unsurprisingly? Sounds like a subtext. Has the king of the naga jilted Mz Purcell at some point?
  3. The dog walking thread
  4. It's a variant on, "If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck..." In other words - if all the evidence points to the new MD being the problem, then he must have been the problem.
  5. Oh I see. You're just generally on the lookout for stuff to have a whinge about. Good luck with that, then.
  6. I would like to know ( as a parent ), how the school can justify this expenditure. The school doesn't have a choice. Sections 110 and 111 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 set out that: * All maintained schools, city technology colleges and city colleges for the technology of the arts adopt a home-school agreement and associated parental declaration
  7. Really??? Wow, you learn something new everyday. I've touched a raw nerve here. Someone asking how to conduct their lives on an internet forum is clearly as addictive as watching reality shows such as the x factor and BB for you, You seem angry, Emerson, and not a little confused. Has someone dumped you in public recently?
  8. merely an observation as to what EDFers find more interesting. Yes, the EDF thread on the miners has been the only way to follow that story.
  9. Ah well. Never mind, eh?
  10. The sad tidiness of Frinton, where chalked cricket stumps are washed off the blackened groynes on chill September evenings. Nets fluttering in Westcliffe bungalows swish dead house flies onto acrylic carpets. In the caravan park hard by the docks at Felixstowe a retired seaman's final years are played out to the sounds of cranes picking and unpicking an endless cycle of rusting containers. He sees the lights of the shipping lane fade into the distance on winter evenings, and turns back to the flickering portable TV. In the marshes too, rain and rivers bid a withdrawn, mud-spattered farewell to England.
  11. Scrap child benefit and people make their own choice and take their own responsibility on what THEY can and can't afford........ Some will, some won't. The sort of Mailbait person this discussion is about will keep having kids whether they can afford them or not - benefits or not. And if those kids grow up neglected or in poverty as a result then your Libertarian is making those children take the hit for their parents' decisions (or lack of them).
  12. A post that started with cock, moved through the balls, and ended up the arse. Poor old repressed Quids.
  13. We have too many human rights these days.

I ran this through my ectoplasm software scanner. Look what it found. http://i53.tinypic.com/2a0new.jpg

    Halloween

There's a reflection of a big ghost hovering above the rooftops in the window.
  16. Well, that's CofE vicars for you.
  17. "Kowalksy...those damn bums down at City Hall have said you're off the noise team." "But Lieutenant, We're about to bust that bozo racket racket wide open..." "Now look I don't like it any more than you do but that's the way it is with these bums down at City Hall, so I'm pairing you with Flaherty in traffic. Now gedouttahere before I have your badge..."
  18. Do you think I got served Halal snacks when I had my meeting with my bank manager to open my sharia bank account.
  19. He'd voted for Ed, of course, because he truly believed the man stood the best chance of delivering social justice within an appropriately-regulated free market economy. But now the doubts creep in and he wonders if his namesake, the elder brother, will be OK. Perhaps a hand-written note on his best Basildon Bond might be in order. Something soothing yet inspiring. We are young yet, still in the late morning of our lives, after all. Yes, he thinks he can see something coming together. He selects the green pen, and commences writing...
  20. david-carnell helps himself to a free breakfast muffin every morning - an acknowledged but unofficial gratuity.
  21. There's a bin for rubbish. There's a bin for compostable waste. There's a bin for everything else that is recyclable. It's so confusing I'm thinking of emigrating.
  22. Oh my. This story has me staring out the window and brought me to this thread, or it could even have provided an alternative ending to the long-gone CPT thread. It's all in the detail - the two Buds a day, the Celine Dion, the work breaks speant staring at a bridge to nowhere, the restaurant manager who never gave him a raise or a card in 10 years yet considers him part of the "family". Think I need to go for a walk... "Then she hopes to go to New Hampshire and put the rest of his remains at his parents' graves ? if she can find them. She will call Rogers, who will then drink the remaining beer in the refrigerator. They will toast the memory of a solitary man who knew his likes and lived within his means, a man who could be counted upon." http://www.tampabay.com/news/obituaries/hit-and-run-victim-was-quiet-and-dependable-co-workers-say/1124721

    People I like

If a satirical construct is promoting a product, doesn't that mean that "we" are being asked to think the product is rubbish? ie If Tom Ford is beloved of vapid, self-obsessed monsters like DulwichMum then "we", being the right-minded readers in on the joke, wouldn't want to be seen dead in Tom Ford, for fear of being thought of as sharing the tastes of vapid, self-obsessed monsters. Therefore, I conclude the author behind DulwichMum is actually in the pay of Boots No.7, and is conducting an effective counter-campaign against over-priced "designer" cosmetics. No further questions, m'lud.

    Spooks

I like it when he speaks Russian too. But I hate it when they show those flashbacks of his naked body shuddering in simulated pain on a cell floor, prison tattoos defining the musculature of his lithe, twisted torso.
