  1. Anyone looking out for Brendan... here he is with Sean (Left) and Big Phil (right).
  2. Two hours twenty minutes, Tony. Have you got them separated yet, or is it looking like a long one?
  3. Bites. Wearily. You were criticised (pilloried, in your self-narrative) for the prolonged and seemingly spiteful nature of your comments, which looked to some like bullying. But then, you're against bullying aren't you?
  4. No problem, glad I could help.
  5. At 12.00AM I will spend 2 hours seperating The Lady who lives with me from the cleaning Lady".... Tied those knots real tight, did you Tone?
  6. Put the subtitles on. Are you taking a telly along to the drinks tonight, Sean?
  7. I heard it was Se?ora Zavara, the Mexican president's wife, visiting Addaction Maya in Peckham Hill Street. That's what I heard anyway. (David Mc - NorthLondoner was making a joke, pretending it was Barry and Michelle O)
  8. Poppy, you're improving. You've certainly hit a richer theme, and it was a good idea to cut down on the dialogue, as you couldn't really handle it. The reported speech is, even so, a little rickety. About 7/10 I'd say. If this thread rumbles on tediously for about 6 pages of discussion about social responsibilities, I suppose that'll be up to about an 8.
  9. It was cut on the live TV version as well, as far as I can remember. Certainly it had the same ending.
  10. I'm not sure there is an original interview, Brendan. I think it was done just for Newswipe. Nick Davies did one last week and Adam Curtis is doing one later in the series I think.

  12. No problem. Glad I could help.
  13. Thanks for clearing that up Ted Max.

  15. Keep going Tony, I'm nearly finished...
  16. From today's Court Circular: "Se?ora Zavala this morning visited Addaction Maya, Peckham Hill Street, London SE15." (She's Mexico's first lady)
  17. http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/apr/01/michele-hanson-spring 'The daffodils are out, and so are the daffodil murderers' Nice first comment, I thought. Hang on ... Loulees, Louisa,... it couldn't be, could it?
  18. By opening up the PM system, PM's could be sponsored too, in a content and context-aware manner. For instance, intimidating messages could carry a security message from the locksmith's on Lordship Lane.
  19. If, like me, you've often wondered how this Forum finances itself just by means of that measly Donate button down there, especially as the site expands, I think I've discovered how. I heard in the pub yesterday that Admin has struck a series of deals with local businesses to give them access to user profile data. Businesses will be able to see real names and email addresses, and tie those to our browsing and posting habits on the site. Ideas include loyalty offers to users who have stuck up for certain businesses, or even counter-offers to those who have complained about their product or service, effectively commercialising the Sea Cow's famous "Louisa gambit". A record is built out of page views as well, to see how interested a user is in certain sections. For instance, Brendan's incessant clicking on the "Find me a nanny" pages may well mean he could be offered similar family services. Moos could be offered a sunglasses deal from White Stuff, or ???? and MickMac a credit line with Coral, along with targeted special bets and offers. What do you think? On the plus side, everything will be targeted and relevant, and it may be a small price to pay for being able to continue our chatter.
  20. Ireland are playing already. (and doing quite well)
  21. Clear enough for ya, *Bob*?
  22. Someone is roasting a pig on Northcross Road, about 50 yards down from the Islamic centre. Which was there first? You?ve no idea. The smell of rendered pork fat mingles with the singed coffee beans from the next stall. Three men, none of them young nor so old, unshaven, wool hats pulled low, munch hog rolls outside the barbers, as if it were normal. A glance inside, and there are more of these men slouched in the chairs, at ease. The wait would have been too long anyway. ?He?s not comfortable in his own skin,? Dad used to say. The ultimate insult ? to defy the facts of your own birth. You duck into the Drum and take a seat at the back. It?s the sort of place people drink coffee in on a Saturday morning. Everybody?s reading and you are too, although you brought nothing with you. Your eyes haven?t moved from the two guys talking by the front window.
  23. I'll save you the bother. There'll be slightly too many shots of the pretty blonde one. Several close ups of the spreading pit stains on the fat bloke's T-shirt. A self-taken shot of a trio of red-faced women squinting into a lens held 18 inches from their faces. A shot of the bloke whose camera it is looking like he wants it back. One of someone halfway up a lamp post outside at closing time. Have I missed any out?
