pushchairs and which is best for what?
snowboarder replied to Sally81's topic in The Family Room Discussion
A pram buggy tester?!? How do I do this please?!? -
It is AWFUL there atm - like a bog - it's ok where the plastic web matting is but that is slippy too. It also attracts little sb like a magnet, unsurprisingly...

Ha ha I love buggies!!! City - Bugaboo Bee (Cham too but maybe a bit big to be truely classed as a city pram) def the most popular around here, also maybe Maclaren? Country - All the NZ rugged 3 wheeler types - Mountain Buggy, Out and About etc. Jogger - these are quite serious looking!! Baby jogger do one and Phil and Teds about to bring one out (called sub zero or something hilarious!!). Style - Bugaboo is the ubiquitous one and price tag means it thinks it has 'style'. I think icandy is it's british rival. Mamas and Papas do some quite funky stainless steel affairs but somehow don't really do it for me. Micralite are a bit 'different'. Traditional - well yes there's the proper Silver Cross but I have never really actually seen anyone pushing one!! The 'pramette' type prams that Silvercross and mamas and papas do are quite traditional, and there are a load of the fixed big wheel prams (like maybe bebecar?) which while they look traditional sometimes also a bit bling!! Overall the popular route seems to be Bugaboo (either bee or Cham) with Maclaren quest for the car/toddler followed by Phil and Teds when no. 2 rocks up!! -

Good luck! Oh dear....guess what category little sb falls into...oh well I also adore Christmas and trees etc and was so disappointed not to have a tree last year as went away for most of December. We'll give it a try and report back. First w/e of December is officially tree week end! -

We used a little cup to give our little one some of the milk bank donor milk at Kings in addition to b/f in the first couple of days - it was specifically provided for that purpose and that seemed to be how the midwives administered the milk...and they showed me how to do it. I remember the achievement of getting 25ml down him!

In the early days I used to think it was like scratching a mosquito bite. But that is rather literal in terms of the physical pain and relief cycles of latching on and feeding...

Cannot understand why, if SO common, babies are not routinely checked for this? Bizarre. Always wondered about little sb who seemed to feed ok and gain weight, but only in the last month or two has he stuck his tongue out.

Fuschia - nightmare!! Thinking of you and give me a shout if you need anything - you know we are just down the road from Heber sch...happy to help if can. Thought to bear in mind - Erika at the Lanes told me (last week) that if all goes well with CS you CAN be out of post natal in 24hrs - esp I would think if the ind mw's would give you the confidence to discharge yourself as you know you would get their support once at home.... xx

Christmas and hand me downs..

Will she really notice? We hardly gave little sb anything last yr when he was 8.5m as were in Oz visiting my sister - think he got a book and little train. For his 1st birthday he got a trike but it came in July rather than April!! Suppose if big sister is getting a mermaid she might cotton on to the present thing earlier though... -
Private lactation consultant?

Couple mentioned on this thread? -
These are a bit random looking but I thought quite good to wear underneath normal clothes. I got heartily sick of supposed breastfeeding tops which were a-horrid looking, b-expensive and c-not very good (fumbling for boob through weird slit under arm....hmm)

Oh my god this weather!! Anyone else stuck at home with little ones? What to do?!? Mine practically has a seizure if I out the rain cover on his buggy...and falls asleep in the car which not ideal for sanity saving lunchtime nap. Currently the telly's on. where is the big indoor play barn in east dulwich please? Grumpy!

Anyone involved in NCT Sales?
snowboarder replied to The Nappy Lady's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Next one not till Feb. See here. On the 'How to sell' page it seems members get priority over non members for selling. I'm a member so if remember will give you a shout when the info about applying to sell comes out nearer the time if you like.... -
B - have I told you how I do Z? He screeches when I get his face wet too - so I just get all toys out in bath immediately and start washing him with flannel whilst he plays...the wet flannel surreptitiously reaches his head without him noticing and wets his hair enough for shampoo, quick shampoo moment then do my best still with flannel to get soap out. It takes a bit longer (and yes easier when have less hair!) and usually end up with one last wipe when I go over his head and wipe his face - but quick and as with flannel all excess off quite quickly! Did try just pouring water over head for a bit as short sharp shock tactic but did not go well - wouldnt even get in bath after couple of days. As above - strangely when he splashes his OWN face it's funny..... Brushing teeth, however, is our current battleground....

Going to go cold turkey. GMT all the way. No adjustments!

Ha! Yes it works the other way round these days - I love it when the clocks go forward now! We didn't do too badly, strangely. Predict tired pre nap melt down later, though...

new mother Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's alot of money post tax isn't it? 60/65k? Yes, it is, but if you think that will probably include a new kitchen as well. The structural works can cost quite a lot as you are essentially removing 2 supporting walls of your house (if you have nice glass doors onto garden) and the steel work for that is significant. I have absolutely nothing to base this on but I'm not sure you get as great a financial return on a side extension as you would an extra bedroom in the loft. But I like to think that you increase the desirability/sell-ability of your property and make it stand out from every other 3 bed terrace in ED. Esp if you put in a downstairs WC etc. Thinking of doing the loft next but not sure can bear it....
