-

help!! day 3 of 2 year old with tummy bug....
snowboarder replied to clux's topic in The Family Room Discussion
clux how is she? BabySb recovered from the puking pretty quick and we just have disgusting nappies and no appetite now - sounds like your little one had a pretty horrid bug.... I don't deal well with illness, grumpiness or any type of upset generally either......! -
Shall we set a date? I'm easy....
-
I know I should be elated....but daytime sleep dreadful and stressful, baby tired and grizzly all day, full of stomach churning anxiety whenever baby cries and I'm not sleeping now! I almost think we were happier the way things were! One melodrama after another in the snowboarding household, eh?!?
-
Would be good to know what has been successful for the really small ones - we're just getting into books now really with my 1-in-3-weeks old! So far he's not interested unless each page has something to do - so the That's not my Lion/Puppy etc and Where's Spot with lift up flaps are going down well. No flaps/things to touch = thrown away in disgust!
-
Hmm yes I think local is good - my days of the Clapham Grand and Infernos (do they even still exist?!?) I think are either over or suspended for now! How about the Mag? I had a rare night out on friday and was in a bar in Camberwell (before fab fab tapas at Angels and Gypsies - can really recommend) and found myself thinking how terribly loud it was.....OH DEAR!!!!

antinatal courses - advice needed
snowboarder replied to goldilocks's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I would email/call the Southwark antenatal nct person - I couldn't understand the website either and I think some of the courses are not on there - so don't despair! -
My mothers day pressie - I think babySB might have slept through too - unsure as turned off monitor and his door and ours shut, but I didn't hear him until 6am!! Gosh....
-
I need to start reading again! Would need somewhere with supervised creche for babySB though - he's far too demanding!! In all seriousness I'd be keen but it's hard to control the older babies/toddlers...but would certainly give it a go!
-
Sounds fab. I generally need food of some description when I go out these days or tend to fall over.... Pretty free/easy on dates. Social life in April will revolve around first birthday parties..!

The Nappy Lady Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- not what you need right now. Quite!! And yes v cheery this morning until it came to lunch, I got cross as he wouldn't eat, picked him up and bleughhhh! He's never been sick before other than early milk stuff... At least he's sleeping.....
-
Sorry I know threads been before but what do I do re projectile vomiting 11 month old? Currently just giving him water and b/f when he wants, with rice cakes out for him to pick up if he wants them....`Only been happening since lunchtime but already 3 'attacks'! Whats that BRAN thing or something? Bread and apple?? Sorry being flakey. Covered in baby sick.... He's now sleeping and am terrified he will be sick in bed....

The bee is nice and light though yes? I got a fold up one (maclaren quest) as i have a big icandy pram/pushchair that is a nightmare to fold up but lovely and comfy for bubs. Suppose depends what you think you'll use it for - like we find it is good to have a light one folded in the boot of the car so you don't really have to worry about transporting the pram when you go somewhere, and for holidays.....but if the bee is nice and light and foldy anyway.... But it's not just about need is it?!? Buggy's are the new handbags.....

Micralite superlite DOES looks fab. Strollers all the way I reckon apart from I'm keeping a beady eye on babySB atm - no buggy naps! You are welcome to try out my maclaren if you like but sadly the micralite has moved on.....!
-
Billy - if you regularly get 45 mins in cot 3 times a day it sounds pretty good to me - we have always had dead on 30 mins cycles. God knows how you resettle - I have NEVER managed it and I just know it's pointless - he's so awake. There are suggestions about trying to lull them into the next sleep cycle by stroking their backs before they wake but v hard! This 2 hr nap is some time away for both of us I think!
-
Oooh BUGGYS. So much more fun than my miserable day of sleep and naps traumas (shopping is my therapy!). So - verds as you know I briefly had a slightly older fastfold and I really love the look of them more than any other buggys and the bouncy back wheels (but did sometimes find I kicked the back wheel as v narrow).....But - KBN - I have to say I am loving my new maclaren quest more. Although a bit clattery (?word?!?), better recline, looks like he may fit in it beyond his first birthday and really easy to fold up even with cosytoes.
-
OH sorry still seriously traumatic - why is it impossible to think straight when you have a loudly protesting TIRED baby on your hands?? I don't want to think what he'll be like when he's older...so.stubborn....yet such fun when on form!

If I don't get some sleep, I may die...HELP!
snowboarder replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yes - babySB definitely started his real problems around 12-16wks. I almost thought it was when he stopped really needing food in the night and started just waking and needing the comfort. It's so hard because in many ways HE had a lovely time - lots of milk and cuddles and snoozing. So if you can co sleep and get through it you'll have a pretty happy baby - it was also around this time he started being much better company in the daytime... -
Ditto above re basic tommy tippee. We too have loads of fancy ones too but for water with food the tt ones seem to work best as they require so little effort! BabySB caught on to using it pretty quick when we practised together, me a sip, him a sip etc. He's only just picking it up and drinking from it himself now at 11 months.

If I don't get some sleep, I may die...HELP!
snowboarder replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Um - yes - maybe don't listen to the sleeping through the night mums!! They will NEVER understand unless they have had long term bad sleep. I stopped talking about sleep pretty early on to sleeper-through-ers! The bad news is I think I probably posted in a similar way...oo...8 months ago re my little one. I am only just tackling sleeping problems now. I think you need to decide whether you're happy for him to be in bed with you or you really want him to be in his cot - maybe decide one or the other, then go about the next step. I comfort fed my baby through the night for 11 months. I stopped last week. I have no real advice as we are so not there yet other than you really need to be ready to do something about it, and have a really clear plan that you are really dedicated to see through - so often I thought - right - tonight we will only feed every other wake up (or something random like that!) and give in because I just needed to sleep and feeding was easy. On the up side - well - after 11 months you get pretty used to no sleep - you don't feel nearly as bad as you probably do now!! -
