Just re-read this post and laughed out loud, my head like a nodding dog, very, very, funny. Ale is for the refined palette,It takes time effort and research. A good ale "mentor" helps you appreciate it's subtleties.Go to any small town or country village and order a pint of their local ale & it won't be long before a regular strikes up a conversation with you, some how you slip through the net of suspicion easier. I'm sure most are put of first time by quick a sip of warm muddy John Smith or a pint of cloudy Bass. I myself started out on "Badgers Tanglefoot" served crystal clear at the perfect temprature in a Sussex pub ( The Vine at Tarring) on a busy sunday lunch, free roast potatoes dusted with chili flakes served at the bar.............. ohh but they were the days.... 23. Ok as a sketch how does this sound,we meet up at E.croydon station one early morning,I live near Sydenham so makes sense but Forest hill may suit also , get train to Amberly/ Arundel and set off from there, the country side is beautiful down there ,do a few hours at a leisurely pace and aim to have a lunch in one of the lovely country pubs like the George & Dragon at Burpham possibly, make tracks again & gently and do a circuitous route over the Duke of Norfolk estate & via a tea room* which ends up back at the station, head home for early evening. I am away until the last week in March so can make plans for after that Do you have mountain bikes, this will determine what route we can take. W**F
  24. OK some years ago I used to guide rides out of Arundel in West sussex, I know the trails around this area like the back of my hand. I am keen to show others the routes I know well, we on average ride 30-50 miles in a session through varied terrain. Do you fancy a go ? W**F
